Sony Pictures has dated the untitled movie from The Hurt Locker team of Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal on the Navy SEAL Team 6 and its methodical hunt to kill Al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden. The picture will open Oct. 12, and the studio is using a strategy similar to the one employed on The Social Network, which also launched early in October.
When bin Laden was killed, Boal and Bigelow were well along on a project called Killing Bin Laden, about the so-far unsuccessful attempt to kill the mastermind of the 9/11 terror attacks. It immediately became the hottest project in town, and Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Films banner agreed to fund the film. Buyers materialized during the Cannes Film Festival even as Boal was rewriting the script to reflect a most satisfying third act. Deadline broke news around that time that Sony signed on as distributor. They’ve kept details close to the vest even as thesps like Warrior’s Joel Edgerton were rumored to be taking part.

This is the same person who commented her anti-war views when she did the movie The Hurt Locker. It should be interesting if she actually presents a fair view of the hunt for Bin Laden.

A film is a form of art, not a way to rub anything in anyone’s faces. By the same logic, a German film about Hitler would be Nazi propaganda or an American movie about Hiroshima/Nagasaki would be bragging about it.

The use of limousine service by the Democratic Administration is up 73%! The horror!!
Obama stabilized the economy, solved the banking crises, saved the automobile industry, tried to do something to help people with their health care needs, and restored some of our standing in the eyes of the world. Yes, housing is still in a slump, and unemployment is high, but it’s hard to correct the mistakes of eight years in two. At least for most of us we have a president that we trust, who actually uses his head and heart to try to solve problems rather than the unilateralist approach of a semi-literate pseudo cowboy.
I personally find it irritating that a website for entertainment and media is marred by political comment, and I’ve hesitated many times before replying but have to rebut this constant conservative drivel. The national debt was $10.4 trillion when Barry took office. It is now $14.3 trillion–nearly a 40% increase in our debt in just 2 1/2 years. Quit blaming Bush! This is our man-child’s economy and he’s getting exactly what he wants–an economic catastrophe!

Then saved the Auto Industry by shutting down businesses belonging to good hard working people who had PAID for GM FRANCHISES. He stole their money and gave it to the unions. Bachman can rale about Limo’s, I will rale that the Obama Admin has fewer members than any in over 100 years that have actually worked IN the public sector, owned a business or made a payroll. A whopping 8% of them.. lowest since FDR who was 32% I think.
The Economy is not stable. Soros has pulled Billions of Dollars out of Money Markets in order to ruin the economy and get Obama elected. The September 28th, 2008 surprise was directly due to economic interference by SOROS. The economy is NOT better. Unemployment is UP. Home foreclosures are up but not as much as they could be since foreclosing means no income on the property. Banks have stopped in order to get what they can from the unemployment checks.
The world would be better served by pseudo economic morons like you if you ACTUALLY knew what a cowboy CAN do. We work, we pay our bills, we deal with life as it comes, and not by imposing on others to pay our bills. We take care of our selves and those around us. Give to charity and make sure that the women and children are taken care of. We do not ask for anything nor will we TAKE anything. Keep drinking that kool-aid, big fella. With few exceptions, Hollywood hasn’t made a war movie in any way complimentary to the armed forces since John Wayne. Of all the times they could have done so, why would a bunch of rabid anti Iraq /Afghanistan war types who suffer from serious Bush derangement syndrome make a movie about killing Bin Laden? Why now? People who pay attention know there are authentic, gripping stories of incredible American heroism, daring, and selflessness in the first Gulf War, the Iraq War, and Afghanistan. It is not a coincidence that Hollywood has, after all this time, decided one of those stories needs to be told – right before election day of their favorite politician.

Are they going to include the Seals being “identified” through a White House leak that put them and their families in danger, so our president could get a short-lived ratings boost over it? This after it was agreed in the WH Situation Room that the Seals would not be identified. And will it include an epilogue on how members of Seal Team 6 –and 32 others–were shot down and killed by a Taliban RPG less than three months later and the Seals were identified AGAIN to our enemies? It’s being reported that Bigalow has “unprescedented access to classified information to complete this project. Our president has no shame whatsoever.

Up until now, I have boycotted movies with Jane Fonda in them. I have also boycotted movies starring other anti-American Hollywood types.
Now I will start to boycott Sony products. I will tell my friends and family about what I am going to do and try to convince them to do the same.

However, his latest tax returns showed that he and Michelle took full advantage of all of the exemptions allowed. Why doesn’t he, if he is so generous with other people’s money, forego the exemptions? Because they are all a bunch of hypocrites.

I’m stunned at some of the responses. I did not see the Oscar winning Hurt Locker as leaning to the left or to the right. The charge that the writer and/or director is liberal, thus ‘the film’ and the one they are about to make is therefore ‘liberal’ is outright silly to consider. Yes, the release date for the Bin Laden/ Seal Team Six film is scheduled before the election. According to the right, while Bin Laden’s fall was on President Obama’s watch, much of the tactics to locate Bin Laden were as a result under the previous administration. Out of argument, let’s say the above comments are spot on and the film attacks the previous adminstration. That also won’t help the current President get re-elected, for it does no service to attack the Bush years one more time. It isn’t that I agree or disagree, but simply that it would be pointless to do so.

The lead: Will Smith playing Obama, who gives a crap about anyone else?
The synopsis: A brave but inspirational President makes the reluctant decision to kill a popular Islamic leader that was framed for the greatest attack on American soil.
The Poster: Obama, with that upturned nose superimposed over a Pakistani “mansion” with mountains in the background with a barely recognizable shapes of a blackhawks in the background.
The reaction: ZOMG! this President is so great! i can’t wait to see how he kills bin laden!

No movie can harm an already morally and ethicaly bankrupt Republican Party and its closet cousins The Tea Party – the same crowd who ALMOST alllwed the US to default on their debt payments and international IOUs because they wod rather have the poor, the black, and the down-trodden majority sacrifice more than the rich, powerful, and well-connected. Any SEAL that gives the Japanese details of a top secret raid and details should be thrown in military detention for the rest of their lives for TREASON
