Back in May, we reported about rumblings that E! Entertainment marketing president Suzanne Kolb had emerged as the top internal candidate to replace Ted Harbert as the network’s president, after Harbert moved on to NBC to oversee stations, affiliates, and sales alongside Bob Greenblatt. NBC Cable chairman Bonnie Hammer took her time, but today she made it official about Kolb. Here’s the release:
Los Angeles, July 7, 2011 – Suzanne Kolb has been named President of E! Entertainment, reporting to Bonnie Hammer, Chairman, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios. Kolb previously served as President, Marketing, News and Online for E! and The Style Network and has played a key leadership role in driving the networks’ record-breaking growth over the past six years. As E! President, Kolb’s senior management team will include longtime E! executives Steve Dolcemaschio, Chief Operating Officer, Lisa Berger, President, Entertainment Programming, and Cyndi McClellan, Executive Vice President, Research & Program Strategy.
“As a member of E!’s leadership team, Suzanne has played a pivotal role in getting the network to the great place it is today,” said Hammer. “Her strong oversight of three areas key to E!’s success — news, online and marketing — makes her the perfect person to lead the brand through the important next phase of its evolution.”
“I am incredibly grateful to Bonnie for the opportunity to lead E! during this wonderfully exciting and unique time in the brand’s history and equally thrilled to do that in partnership with a management team I know and love,” said Kolb. “E! has enjoyed great success in the past but we’re just getting started.”
In her previous role as President, Marketing, News and Online, E! Entertainment and The Style Network, Kolb led all marketing, communications and brand alliances for both networks, and oversaw the networks’ popular non-linear destinations E! Online and mystyle.com. Most recently Kolb successfully unified and expanded E!’s news entities, including E! News, E! Online and E! News Now, and has helped to establish E! News as the top global entertainment news brand.
Kolb joined E! in 2005 as SVP, Marketing for E! Networks, and was subsequently elevated to Chief Marketing Officer for E! and Style, and General Manager, E! Online. She has overseen the marketing strategies and creative behind the networks’ most successful and popular franchises, including E!’s mega-successful “Kardashians” franchise, “Chelsea Lately,” “The Soup” and “Fashion Police,” as well as Style series “Ruby,” “Giuliana & Bill,” “Jerseylicious” and “Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane,” among others. Prior to joining E!, Kolb served as EVP of Marketing at The WB Television Network.

I’m genuinely happy for Kolb. But you take away “The Soup” and E! is truly garbage television.
what happened to entertainment, if u’all think the kardashians is entertainment u r sadly mistaken!!!!!PLEASE NO MORE REALITY TV………ENOUGH ALL READY!!!REAL TV SHOWS PUT THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE AWAY.
I think the most interesting part of this and all this sub-genre of corporate press release is the intense phoniness inherent to the language, the empty, forced rhetoric, “leading the brand in this wonderfully exciting time”… it all speaks of a souless culture based on falsehoods, lies, dishonesty, narcissism and bullshit. Call me naive, but I find it disgusting and profoundly corrupted. These folks in the rat race embracing what they know is pure baloney and indulging in this displays of hypocrisy… Sad.
one of the best comments i have ever read on this or any show biz site.
reaching the peak of the cubicle pyramid and it sounds like zombie cult speak
Andy: You nailed it Right in The head! ‘Zombie Cult speak”.
I’m taking Zombies to the next Level.
Doc Sinda
I’ve watched this kind of sausage get made for many years and you are right on the money.
Suzanne is a talented, hard working, dedicated executive and she’ll do a fantastic job
Well said Richard. really, well done!
Sorry you didn’t get the gig, Richard.
Bonnie will surely realize this is a huge mistake. Kolb has no creative skills, has done nothing to up the ante with the news and does not know anything about the Internet. Further she has continuously scored the lowest ratings among her staff and colleagues on her management skill ratings. It’s sad that her life is E! She is so typical of lonely, single 40-something, unattractive women in Hollywood.
ANONYMOUS (and cowardly), look at your comment..you sound like a jealous, ignorant jerk! I have known Suzanne since she began her career at Grey Entertainment on the ABC Television account and knew then what I know now— she is one of the most ethical, intelligent and hard working people you will ever meet. I have watched as she’s proven herself time and time again. Many “doubters” have come and gone and most usually realize that they’ve jumped to an inaccurate conclusion b/c Suzanne does not engage in the court of public opinion. Your comment is really stunning in its mean-spiritedness. Perhaps you should look in the mirror and think hard about where all this loathing is coming from. You are disgusting.
Have fun working until 2am every night! She’s smart and all…but Jesus, get a life!
Surprised Seacrest didn’t get the spot. Between him and Kristen Stewart’s publicist, they practically run the network and the website. Seriously, how much narcissistic image stroking do two people need?
Is this woman the genius who gave ROSS THE INTERN his own talk show pilot?! If so, we can expect many more years of shitty E! Programming.
So does Chelsea Handler have to go down on her now?
More like this woman will have to go down on Chelsea to keep her at E!
The only think I care about is the fact that this woman is smoking hot. She’s freaking gorgeous. Give yourself your own show lady.
Suzanne has been a shining star for a very very long time. I have had the good fortune of working with her at The WB and have witnessed first hand her smarts, talent, dedication and extreme drive for quality. Richard, yes, the press realease is over the top….but don’t let that keep anyone from thinking that Suzanne isn’t capable of taking E! to another level. Bonnie, a GREAT move on your part. Congrats to all….
Thank you, Richard for your spot on comment.
Look to the President of (Non) Entertainment programming, Lisa “Blowhard” Berger, and you will find someone with all the (non)attributes you mention.
Comcast/NBCuniversal, please bury this channel, and do our country and hollywood a great service. They think TMZ , is the AP wire service.
“… it all speaks of a souless culture based on falsehoods, lies, dishonesty, narcissism and bullshit.”
Can everyone get a reality check? This is TV. People are being paid to develop content that the mindless souless culture likes. Suzanne shouldn’t be Villainized and neither should Bonnie. They have made it to the top from playing the game well. To them, CONGRATS! To everyone else, get an INFORMATIONAL. All the best!
