OWN, Oprah Winfrey’s network, announced an Oct. 10 premiere date for its new nightly Rosie O’Donnell talk show The Rosie Show and OWN Your Life: The Oprah Class. Rosie will air weeknights at 7, OWN Your Life at 8. The latter will feature Winfrey using her library of 4,561 shows as “a teaching tool” to viewers to help them improve their lives, as she said in making a semi-surprise appearance today during the network’s TCA summer press tour session at the Beverly Hilton to introduce O’Donnell. “We’re repackaging the shows to use them as the world’s biggest classroom,” she said.

I’d like to see a reality show about Oprah – a day in the life sort of thing…
XYZ – really? I mean, not to be mean….but I can’t think of anyone we’ve been bombarded with more of that kind of information about than Oprah. The Behind The Scenes show told us nearly everything in her day to day – about the only thing missing was when/where/how often she used the loo.
Repackaging her past glory isn’t going to do much for Winfrey or OWN, which is slowly disappearing in an inferno of its own vast, deep irrelevance.
We are going to learn about irrelevance from someone who still uses the word “loo”? Networks and shows take time. Every viewer knows that.
Believe it or not, some nationalities still use the word in everyday language. As for “shows take time” – do you pay attention to TV these days? If you’re not a hit right out of the bag, you’re gone. Unless of course, you have a show on OWN.
Q #1: Who wants to talk to Rosie O’Donnell?
Q #2: Who wants to hear Rosie O’Donnell’s voice?
Answer to both: Absolutely no one. Why Oprah thinks that Rosie will help OWN baffles me. But then again, OWN in general baffles me. Depressing “documentary” series… really?
I love Rosie and Oprah, but 7pm? That seems like a tough time slot. I hope it does well, so they need to really amp it up in the first few months!
Oh, and “loo” is a cool word. Why so negative? Sheesh.
I have yet to see OWN really do a full-court press marketing their shows and network. If they want to get anywhere….they better start spending money and advertising everywhere. There are a lot of options on television at 7pm and people will need to be reminded who Rosie is and why they should care about her. Honestly, I forgot OWN even existed and I am a huge television fan. Best of luck to them.
I would like to see a show about the teaching profession filled with actual teachers and school success stories. A show that teachers, principals, and parents would enjoy seeing that could inspire them to do a better job at their school.
