Series about ethnic and religious groups appear to be the latest hot trend in reality TV. There is MTV’s mega hit about Italian Americans Jersey Shore and TLC’s Mormon series Sister Wives and gypsy show My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Bravo yesterday announced Shahs of Sunset, a new docu-series from Ryan Seacrest about Iranian Americans in LA. Today, TLC is unveiling All-American Muslim, a new series about Muslim Americans set to premiere in November. Set in Dearborn, Michigan, home to the largest mosque in the United States, it follows the daily lives of five Muslim American families. Shed Media US is producing, with Nick Emmerson, Jennifer O’Connell and Dan Peirson exec producing.

Should be interesting. Jennifer and Nick are the producers behind Real House Wives of NY and NJ.
Love the idea. Should be enlightening and interesting and hopefully bridge the gap. Still too much prejudice after 9/11 and should help heal.
Wonder who’s to blame for that, can’t be Muslims themselves, lol. Please, whatever prejudice exists is because of their own actions, this show will just show Muslims acting on their best behavior, PC, cameras on, a minority to the radical religion that it is.
I know that they decided to call the show “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding,” but for the sake of your own journalistic integrity, please don’t call them gypsies. The term is both offensive and inaccurate – the ethnic group the series focuses on are the Irish Travellers, often just called the Travellers. They do not identify as Romani.
A bomb (no pun intended).
Very happy to hear this. As a Jew, I feel like the battle for my own security lies in protecting the Muslim community from prejudice. There was nobody left when the came for us…
Wow, you tried so hard to be prolific and deep but couldn’t bother to spell check — FAIL! Ha ha! A Muslim loving Jew, in America it’s called being Progressive. In Israel? Mental. I agree with the Israelis on this one.
