EXCLUSIVE: Adam Scott has been set to star in A.C.O.D., with Stuart Zicherman making his directorial debut on a script he wrote with Ben Karlin. The project is being financed and produced by Black Bear Pictures, which is currently in production with an untitled Ramin Bahrani-directed pic that stars Zac Efron and Dennis Quaid.
The title, A.C.O.D., is an acronym for Adult Children of Divorce, and Scott plays a thirty-ish man who was forced at an early age to be the adult of his family when his parents split bitterly. Fed up dealing with his parents’ long running feud, he must get his folks together once more time and keep from blowing a gasket after his younger brother unexpectedly decides to get married. Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman is producing with Karlin (who co-created The Colbert Report) and Tim Perell. The film will shoot in March, and Scott will work it into his schedule starring in the NBC sitcom Parks and Rec.
Since he established his comic chops in Step Brothers, Scott has been working nonstop. He costars alongside Paul Rudd in Our Idiot Brother, the Weinstein Company comedy that has its premiere tonight, and Scott will next be seen starring alongside Jon Hamm in Friends with Kids (the film premieres at Toronto), and recently wrapped My Mother’s Curse opposite Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand. Scott also co-stars opposite Isla Fisher, Kristen Dunst and Lizzy Caplan in The Bachelorette. He’s repped by CAA and Untitled.

Seriously, with all the good will in the world, change the title! ‘ACOD’ is a dud.
Gold might get you tickets to the Jonas Brothers, black will get all three of them…
Oy this sounds like a stinker. Wonder how many actors they went to before him
He’s a bore
Are we having fun yet?
Yeah definitely, that title has to change.
Sounds like none of you have seen the Vicious Kind, Party Down, or Parks and Rec, he’s crazy talented!
Crazy talented.
Adam is hilarious and brings a reality/grounds a lot of comedic actors who simply go big. Just b/c he can be understated doesn’t make him less brilliant, in fact quite the opposite. He will rightfully have leads in studio films soon.
As for the “sounds like a stinker” at least read the script before spewing ignorant comments, this one is not a huge premise so it’s in the execution and based on AS’s taste thus far I’m going to go check this out…
That’s so weird that “his younger brother unexpectedly decides to get married.” How could the show creators not know?
Never heard of him until I stumbled upon “The Vicious Kind”…he’s got chops….kind of actor who, with the right role in the right films, could easily break out of Indie-ville.
The man is a master.
I hear he is a top earner. Always makes his nut. The Catalina fckn Wine Mixer.
Hey haters – script is hilarious and touching. Don’t judge until you’ve read.
Too bad his agent is the biggest douche!!
Do yourself a favor and watch Party Down. Such a surprisingly good show.
Great script. So nice to see a movie about actual humans get made.
I love Scott and hope his agent isnt an idiot. I cant believe Scott would stay with a plonker. I’d rather he did more subtle comedy than out and out US nonsense. Infact he’d be good in the UK in a british comedy
