EXCLUSIVE: Adult Swim has renewed Rob Corddry’s comedy series Childrens Hospital for a fourth season with a 14-episode order. Production on the series, which creator/star Corddry executive produces with fellow writers Jonathan Stern and David Wain, will begin later this year for a 2012 premiere. The current third season of Childrens Hospital has been winning its Thursday midnight time slot in all key demos, including 18-49 and 18-34. Based on the Webby–winning online series from Studio 2.0 that launched on TheWB.com in 2008, the Warner Bros TV-distributed Childrens Hospital is a twisted take on network medical dramas and explores the emotional struggles and sexual politics of a group of doctors. In addition to Corddry, the series co-stars Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally and Henry Winkler. Corddry and Wain are with WME and Principato-Young; Stern is with Principato-Young.

GREAT NEWS!!
Perhaps the Parents Television Council should express their disdain for this show – it’s about children, isn’t it? And is tasteless, expresses a cynical view of the world and I’m sure delivers many jokes about bodily functions, death and sex. But having never watched the show, I wouldn’t know. That wouldn’t stop the PTC though, from expressing an equally ignorant opinion.
I hope this comment was in jest because it is just stupid. The show is not about children. What makes a person decide that they have to comment on something they know nothing about? “But having next watched the show, I wouldn’t know.”
The show can be hilarious, which is somehow rare in a world where there are a gazillion channels, so hooray for another season.
PTC would never bother with Childrens Hospital, it’s not high profile enough for their press releases to get any play. PTC is only interested in complaining about stuff that can get them ink.
Booyakasha, he was kidding.
It is on at one am, and is not advertised for children. Just because children is in the name of the show does not mean it is for children. are you an idiot?
Outstanding news. Childrens Hospital is right up there with Louie, 30 Rock and Parks & Recreation for the best comedy series on tv.
Add to the list Archer and Community and I’ll gay-marry you.
I will bring DVD box sets as a gift to that gay wedding.
This is so damn funny. Adult Swim needs more comedies like this. Live action comedies with twisted, cartoonish sensibilities.
They actually got the parody segment pretty covered:
- medical dramas: Childrens Hospital
- procedurals: NTSF:SD:SUV::
- macho cop: Eagleheart
But the true gem in their line-up might be Delocated. I recently discovered a British comedy board. The guys there were all over this show and the creative risks they take in it. When you’ve got the country that produced Monty Python, The Office and many others praising your rather obscure American show and lamenting they’re unable to produce such an alternative and daring show, it’s the ultimate praise.
Fishing with John feels like the first live-action Adult Swim original.
I have a college-age sibling who watches this show, but had no idea who or what a “Patch Adams” is until I explained it to him.
What is a talented feature film actress like Malin Akerman doing on a live action Cartoon Network series that airs Thursdays at midnight?
Being funny.
Besides, they apparently film two episodes a week, and not every cats member’s in every episode. So she carves out a month or so a year and builds up cred doing this critically adored cult comedy show.
Seth Green seems more known for Robot Chicken than anything else.
Having lots of fun and starting work on a fourth season. Lots of actors sure as hell can’t say that.
Never seen Archer and I gave up on Community after just a few episodes. But I do plan to go back to it at some point. I guess our gay wedding will have to wait.
I don’t find this show funny at all.
Last funny episode was Nip/tug
I lump this show in with Archer and Eastbound and Down as shows that I know I’m supposed to like but just don’t find funny at all. I’d rather watch Louie, Workaholics and Sunny in Philadelphia.
Just say, “I’d rather watch shows where I have people repped.” That would be way more direct.
I want a live action reboot of Perfect Hair Forever.
