EXCLUSIVE: She is a daytime institution and the most recognizable star from departing ABC soaps All My Children and One Life To Live. So it would be natural for Prospect Park, the company that recently forged a multi-year, multi-platform licensing agreement with Disney for the two daytime dramas, to reach out to Lucci first. I hear that has happened and Lucci has received an offer to continue on AMC, on which she has been since its inception in 1970 and is the only original cast member remaining. What’s more, I have learned that, despite speculations about potential salary cuts on the two shows as they migrate from broadcast TV to online, Lucci has been offered basically the same salary she currently has at ABC. She is currently mulling the offer. While there will probably be some budget trimming due to the medium switch, it looks like AMC and OLTL‘s’ new producers are stepping up to keep the shows’ biggest stars and fan favorites. AMC and OLTL are scheduled to relaunch online in the first quarter of 2012. Prospect Park is also in talks with cable networks about carving out a traditional TV window.

Clearly not hard enough since they’ve already lost Debbie Morgan & Jacob Young to Y&R and B&B. I honestly dont think Lucci will stay.
I love Jacob young and even debbi but they have been ready to leave ever since the news of cancellations broke, i always think they were going to be on their way out. debbi wasn’t feeling the blind story line and JY well he can always berecast, I think PP is doind great everyone who waited for just a second are now getting offers for basically the same pay and the promise to help get them on cable shows they they do…
Losing Debbie Morgan and then Jacob Young, both to CBS, that doesn’t show me commitment to keeping it’s stars.
jr character was ready for rehab or something, it has been going around in circles for a couple of years, I didn’t like him as Lucky on GH and don’t like him as JR, so no big loss.
I thought the Debbie blind storyline has gone on and on,
I look forward to the soaps online.
There is still lots of talent left, they just need good writing.
OLTL has been the best lately, it should have been kept instead of GH which is HORRIBLE!
Where is the funding coming from to pay network salaries to Lucci and others?
The terrorists have won.
I think All My Children might be better without her, she is not worth the high salary. Michael Knight has become the heart and soul of AMC, they need him to continue. As for One Life to Live, it could never be the same without Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser. Let’s hope some smart thinking cable network picks up the shows.
U are jealous keep yo mouth off Susan Lucci.
Both Morgan (who has wanted to be on Y&R forever) and Young (who came to AMC from B&B) were in negotiations with CBS before the PP deal was announced. Their departures, while unfortunate, are NOT the fault of PP.
I was hoping it was an offer from playboy.
Lucci was already commuting cross-country when the show moved to LA. I find it hard to believe she’ll keep that up for an internet show.
hope Suzann stays for all my children will not be the same without at least having Erica kane aboard the new version a long with other fan favorites though odds are in order to be able to pay Sueann her salary she is getting odds are the soap will proably wind sending a few more actors packiing.
I think they are trying. Debbie Morgan already signed or just had signed with Young and the Restless just as it was announced that AMC and OLTL would continue. The deal needed and needs time to work itself out. They needed to talk and straighten everything out with unions before they could even approach the cast.
TF
DM had already signed on with Y&R and was actually in talks with them for months before officially going over. JY was rumored to have been speaking with B&B since April so these were pretty much done deals not much PP could do about it. They could not approach the actors until they had addressed union issues. PP knows that if that can’t keep Susan you don’t really have AMC you just have some fake version of it and it would likely fail. I’m just glad that rumors of drastic pay cuts seem to be bogus.
Debbie Morgan signed with Young and the Restless before any contract offers were made by Prospect Park. That may have been the case with Jacob Young as well. I just hope AMC doesn’t lose any more cast members.
Debbi Morgan and Jacob Young are isolated cases. Debbi has wanted to be on Y&R for AGES… and when he contract expired she LEAPED at the chance to jump ship. Jacob Young sat in on the meeting for Prospect Park but didn’t like that it was a whole new frontier/voyaging in the unknown and HE wasn’t comfortable with going that route… so when B&B reached out to him, he accepted. I really think he should have listened more to what they had to offer as the material he’s been getting on the show has been INCREDIBLE lately… but its his choice, and he’s probably going to regret it in a year or so.
Susan…if you don’t need the money walk away from this! And fast!…. Both Jeff and Laurie Ferneau are sadly desperate people with their own agendas. How Jeff bought into her crap and hired her, will always be a unexplainable… she cuts him down behind his back.he doesn’t even know it… A no talent…which you aren’t. What a legacy you leave…There’s nothing more for you to get from this show…So many more opportunities out there for you…Their feeble attempt, when it fails…and it will…will bring you down with it. A desperate has been. your too smart for that.
Susan will stay!!!! What a bunch of negative Nancy’s commenting on this….If you do your homework you might not be sooo negative.. wait…are you even soap viewers?? HEE
Jacob Young and Debbie Morgan could still end up coming back on AMC in time!!! This situation, going to PP online (it will make tv too) is something new so it gonna take time for contracts made up, and then each parties have to go over…so on and so on…
If you are a soap viewer this is a good thing….we have been fighting Disney/ABC since April, and we will keep fighting to save the soaps!!!
I don’t think she’ll accept the offer, unless she is so bored she decides to hell with it and do it for a little while or she waits until it goes on traditional cable TV.
I feel strongly feel that Prospect Park has every intention of trying to make this work and they are willing to front the necessary monies to make this transition. However, it is a huge gamble because I guarantee that these contracts that are signed with the actors/crew are for 1 year or less meaning they will pull the plug on these shows within 1 year if they are not profitable. And if that’s the case, then we the fans will lose out on a proper finale/farewell (I heard one of them was going to jump 5 years ahead so that we caught up on what all the characters were up to but that go scrapped because of the online deal) with the entire cast intact. I have a feeling a year from now fans will be wishing that they had ended when scheduled.
I’m so happy to have some more news about All My Children and One Life to Live. I hope the majority of the actors will continue on. I know Prospect Park is working hard to keep our soaps alive, but it’s hard as a fan to wait for news. Thanks Deadline for sharing the scoop!
On OLTL, Todd, Dorian, David have already left. Those were great characters. Not much point in continuing without the cast.
Hope Lucci says yes to help the show transition and hope she insists they relocate the show back to NYC!
I hope Susan stays with the show. She has always pursued other professional opportunities while working on AMC, and she could still do that and remain with the new online version. The internet is the future of entertainment, and this has the potential to be a great opportunity for her. I suspect that she’ll at least try it out and see how the production goes and what storylines are offered to her. I hope it works out for her.
Please keep these soaps. I’m a big fan since I was a teenager. Don’t do this to the fans!!!
Why soaps haven’t migrated to cable like Monday Night Football is beyond me.
Because MNF is a popular moneymaker, and the soaps are not anymore. If they can’t even survive on network TV, which is available to more viewers than cable and therefore has a larger potential audience, imagine how stinky their ratings would be on a cable channel. Cancellation city!
oh right and “the chew” is so original. PLEASE. If i want to watch news of today or food i’ll watch the food network. don’t count on soap fans watching that crap
I will never watch the “chew”. What an ignorant name. Whenever possible, I’ll boycot ABC.
Hey Esther. If you think this is A Feeble Attempt with Prospect Park getting A Millionaire to be on It’s Executive Committee and Talking to the Unions and Trying to get These Soaps on Cable TV; then what would you do if you were Them? Also, The People that Work for Prospect Park have been Successful with Almost Everything they have ever done and They are Doing Everything that needs to be Done. I wouldn’t think that They will Fail if People think that this is the Future with Shows on the Internet. Jody
Hello Dan. Maybe JR can go to Rehab and not be on All My Children. Then, if Bold And Beautiful doesn’t use Jacob in 6 Months; Then Maybe Jacob would go back to All My Children Especially if it is on Cable TV and JR would get out of Rehab. Jody
It’s obvious Prospect Park wants Susan. I would love to see her pursue primetime. That’s where she belongs. Maybe Susan should negotiate a pilot deal with Prospect Park in addition to starring in the online version of All My Children. Additionally, she has been loyal to All My Children for 41 years and deserves to be one of its executive producers.
