EXCLUSIVE: She is a daytime institution and the most recognizable star from departing ABC soaps All My Children and One Life To Live. So it would be natural for Prospect Park, the company that recently forged a multi-year, multi-platform licensing agreement with Disney for the two daytime dramas, to reach out to Lucci first. I hear that has happened and Lucci has received an offer to continue on AMC, on which she has been since its inception in 1970 and is the only original cast member remaining. What’s more, I have learned that, despite speculations about potential salary cuts on the two shows as they migrate from broadcast TV to online, Lucci has been offered basically the same salary she currently has at ABC. She is currently mulling the offer. While there will probably be some budget trimming due to the medium switch, it looks like AMC and OLTL‘s’ new producers are stepping up to keep the shows’ biggest stars and fan favorites. AMC and OLTL are scheduled to relaunch online in the first quarter of 2012. Prospect Park is also in talks with cable networks about carving out a traditional TV window.

Susan seemed hopeful the show would continue in some form, so I’d not be surprised if she stayed (perhaps with fewer shows if she requests that).
Debbie Morgan and Jacob Young were asked to the other shows before the PP deal was in place.
PP seems to have impressed quite a few of the cast members. And given broadcast TV is going the way of LPs, and even cable is starting to fade, going to the net seems a smart move for the show and the actors (if the contracts are similar).
I’m very glad PP seems committed to doing the shows right. They certainly have hired the right writers.
You’re small minded. Where did terrorists come from?
I am SO happy to be hearing these reports! I am hopeful and believe that if allowed more time for other projects, Susan and many others will stay. Can’t wait to hear more!
Call me cynical, but from everything I’ve read, this whole Prospect Park internet deal sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen. It seems like merely a lame attempt by ABC to save face and calm down angry fans to show that they tried to keep the shows afloat in some way. How are these no-doubt scaled down soaps going to make money in an internet format when they were no longer economically feasible on a broadcast network? I’ll be very, very surprised if these online versions last more than a year. Be careful what you wish for, people. A year from now or sooner, I feel that everyone is going to look back and regret that these iconic soaps didn’t go out with the proper dignity on network TV, where the widest possible audience could see them.
I only hope it will makr it back to cable for what I understand if you don’t have high speed internet you won’t be able to veiw them.Small communties will not provide those services for us.Also Canadian veiwers are a big fan of these soaps but with the cancelling of soapnet they will be lefted out and hulu is not in Canada either.Millions are screwed on the soaps
I think Susan will stay with AMC. She is AMC and AMC is her. She is the only original member left. The show just wouldn’t be the same without her.
I commend PP for stepping up to the plate in giving AMC and OLTL a place on the internet to continue. I just don’t see the stars signing up for this venture! I have watched both soaps for over 40yrs and won’t be able to watch online! I don’t owm a computer and live on a fixed income! Good luck in the future to both shows! I will miss them!!
I’m not really upset that Debbie is leaving. I think her SL is very boring and I don’t think Jacob couldn’t be re-cast. I’ve seen only positive intentions from PP and I have no reason to think they have anything but good intentions with trying to hire all the same actors. Both DM and JY were in talks before they knew about the PP deal so I don’t think either of them leaving has anything to do with PP. If this is true, and Susan was offered a similar salary, she would be silly not to continue. She belongs on soaps (in a good way) and will find it hard otherwise not to be typecast as Erica Kane.
@ Karyn, Its comments like this that bring forward all the negative thoughts and assumptions. I suggest you research this deal and read the articles about PP reaching out to tv networks to air these shows. There is even talk that Bravo will be airing these shows. If you don’t own a computer, how are u able to post here? True fans will follow these shows anywhere they go.
Susan should tell them move back to NY or forget it.
I think Susan has always been very good and gracious to her fans. I think she will work something out, even if it’s not 100% of the time, she can work out a deal like Tony Geary.
I think all of us still need to flood ABC however we choose to do so (e-mail, mail, calls) and let them know we still are outraged about their decision. I think all of us need to NOT watch the two shows they’re going to have on. Then, I do hope a cable channel, at least, will pick up the two soaps. I admire PP for wanting to do the online versions, but I wonder if they’re going to cost money (and many of us don’t have the $ to do online viewing, since most of us already do pay for cable). As for Susan Lucci . . . I think she’s remarkable and it’s wonderful she’s stayed with the program from the outset. Her salary, though, will prohibit keeping others on. I like Michael Knight more than I do La Lucci. I can understand why Jacob took the other job – he has a young family to support. Personally, I love OLTL more than I do All My Children, but I will continue to advocate and be loyal to both of these soaps that I’ve watched for over 40 years. Darn those who decided to cancel them!
I have watched All my children since Eric Kane was a teenager. I truly loved watching Angie and Jesse when they were first on AMC and now. They are truly great actors. They bring their all to the characters and make them so real. I will truly miss seeing Debbie Morgan and Darnell Williams. I don’t believe they have been given their due by the fans of AMC. I was so happy that Oprah acknowledge them as the great actors they are. Much love Angie and Jesse and AMC.
i don’t see “the chew” holding an audience for long. I’ll give it 3 months, 6 max before it goes under
All my Children what a Great Show and the actors are wonderful it is just a shame that someone couldent step in a help save that show do they think people want another food show please! All those channels cant someone see what a loss it is going to be!!!
