The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will premiere Sept. 5 as originally scheduled despite the recent suicide of co-star Russell Armstrong. “Given that these episodes were filmed months ago, the producers of the show taped a brief interview this week with several of the cast members to introduce the premiere,” Bravo president Frances Berwick said in a statement. “Re-editing of the episodes is still underway.” She said that Bravo has partnered with the Entertainment Industries Council to raise awareness about suicide prevention and will air PSAs during the show. “Our thoughts continue to be with the Armstrong family during this difficult time,” Berwick said.

I feel the urge to take a shower to wash the Bravo sleaze off of me…
Those folks at Real Houswives are Real givers.
Such a “Real” class act from those Bravo folk, so unselfish. We know this will be such a “teachable moment” for the network.
Well, apparently vampires are still “in”.
Hey Bravo, this isn’t a Very Special Episode of “Diff’rent Strokes” where everything is fine in the end and lessons have been learned. This was a real suicide.
Giving it the ‘slap on a suicide hotline number at the end and call it educational’ treatment does not work for reality shows. Absolutely incomprehensible; for once, please, I hope the ratings are average or below normal for a season premier.
Wow. I thought Andy Cohen was better than this. You’d think the negative would outweigh the positives here. If the family sues Bravo after the airing and they lose, they will lose a lot more than airing the show will bring in. I’m surprised that they think that airing PSA’s about suicide prevention is going to mitigate their risk here. I don’t know what’s worse, Andy Cohen and the team at Bravo, or Casey Anthony’s attorneys. This makes me sick to my stomach. Bravo, Andy….bravo.
Bravo and especially Andy himself do not care about anything other than ratings and money.
As for that threatened lawsuit, that family has no standing for a suit.
Suicide is tradgic..to all parties involved..but Russell was barely in the show last season..come on Bravo..how much “editing” is really needed??..he was never a staple in the Real Housewives franchise anyway.
F’r'Chrissake, what do you think reality shows are all about? You think anybody tunes in to see baby ducks and unicorns? Run the shows as they were and don’t be so self-righteous. As long as you’re in the cesspool, you should at least swim.
so will Andy Cohen continue with his “Watch What Happens Live” show after RHOBH airs. Drinking games? Campy fun? Maybe a hilarious suicide watch game?
I don’t agree with everyone putting Andy and Bravo down. This man was obviously sick and committed a traqgic act, but the world doesn’t stop BECAUSE of his act. Why would you expect EVERYONE involved with the show an ALL the viewers to be punished because of this man’s SELFISH act. Selfish yes, because of the sorrow and pain he has caused his family. I feel for the family deeply, but life goes on and so should the show.
This is the only reality show I like but Andy Cohen and co should be embarrassed. The PSAs will be a joke. So now reality tv will be meaningful and educational?! And why re-edit? Just show it how it was originally meant to be aired and stop the bs. I find it ironic that the show which Russel (who was a vile, abusive husband) blamed on much of his stress (i.e., trying to keep up with the Vanderpumps, etc.) is now attempting to turn lemons into lemoncillo. If they really gave a s*%t why not donate what are sure to be huge profits from the premiere to a suicide prevention group. Better yet, give it to his bubblehead widow Taylor — maybe she can throw another $60,000 birthday party for their kid. Geez!
When Rob Kardasian follows suit, we’ll have to throw our TV sets away.
Screw PSA’s for suicide prevention. How’z about BRAVO showing a PSA for women who are in physically and mentally abusive relationships? THAT is what should be highlighted this season, not some selfish wife beater who took the easy way out committing suicide because all his “dirty little secrets” were about to be exposed.
I just finished watching tonights episode. Really if you cannot see by this one episode and the one coming up that Taylor was distraught, then I don’t know know what else to say……..this suicide did not come on over night and if bravo and co stars didn’t see the train wreck approaching the station then they must be pretty darn stupid. The signs were there and sticking out like a sore finger. She won’t be back for any more seasons. She will be on the couch for a good amount of time for the rest of her life. I am sure.
