Because of the extreme heat wave and drought in Central Texas, A&E is pushing the premiere date of Thom Beers’ new docu-reality series American Hoggers that follows the Campbell family as they hunt wild boars that attack residents and ranches. The eight-episode half-hour series originally was slated to premiere Aug. 16 but now will air sometime this fall (date TBD). “Due to the recent extreme weather in Texas, we think it’s best to move American Hoggers to the fall out of consideration to the Campbell family, the crew, and the horses and dogs the family use to hunt,” said David McKillop, EVP, A&E Programming. “In this record-breaking heat, even the hogs can use a break.”
TLC has renewed spinoff series NY Ink for a 10-episode second season to premiere in December. The show’s freshman season averaged 1.3 million viewers.

Not to be confused with Hogs Gone Wild on Discovery where “Expert trappers track and fight aggressive and dangerous boars as they attack homes, farms and urban backyards.”
The lack of originality can’t be tamed in this land called Hollywood.
I’m interning at a production house that does reality TV and I can tell you that the networks are entirely to blame.
Every time we bring them something new, the response is always “No thanks, but do you have anything like Pawn Stars? What about more Swamp People?”
Why the delay?
Is the show being broadcast live?
Do we get to vote off hogs?
I would think a show about to premiere would be in the can already.
“American Hogs.” Something that exists.
FFS, can we PLEASE stop giving a reality show to EVERY single slightly-out-of-the-ordinary occupation out there? Pawn shop owners, cupcake bakers, pest removers, gator hunters, coal miners, loggers, nothern truckers, hog removers, taxidermists, tatoo artists.
I saw an ad for people who build unusual aquariums, and their tagline was something like “crazy aquariums, but a crazier family” coupled by a shot of some moron wiping out on a skateboard in a workshop. No one cares about you or the forced zaniness of your family.
This makes no sense at all. The first season has already been shot. This is not “heat” realated.
I’m pretty sure it’s related to the fact that Jerry campbell is not and never was a Texas Ranger. It’s a huge problem because it was falsely advertised and the Texas Rangers themselves contacted the network to make them stop running the incorrect advertising.
This is Pure BS. They have turned hogs loose for this show and the production company has written checks to buy hogs.
They were supposed to “stop shooting because of the heat”. Again, BS. They are still shooting.
Everyone in this area knows whats going on here mostly because the Campbell family won’t stop talking about it.
Hahaha!!! That’s funny, good call, of course they are buying the hogs. The hogs looked manicured and couldn’t be any more domestic. And the dogs couldn’t be more lazy.
This show sucks!!!
better stories in TEXAS than this.
Come on now I agree with the former comment, stop giving shows to every off the wall family! This show is just gross. Who wants to watch people tie up and shoot hogs as a way to relax and unwind after work! Not me! I mean get real. Where is the entertainment value? I guess you can get excited when they tie up a hog, but its not my idea of excitement! No thrill here! Again its just cruel and nasty….
Just watched two episodes of “Amer Hoggers” and I wish they would stop putting the hogs in the same fenced perimeter over and over and over again.
Last, could you find smaller hogs guys? 20lb hogs couldn’t hurt a fly. Get real!!! Waste of time to watch this garbage.
