CBS’ The Good Wife made its transition from Tuesdays to Sundays this past week, but the network is putting extra muscle behind the move with The Good Wife: A New Beginning, a half-hour special that will air Sunday, Sept. 4, at 9:30 PM, following a Mike & Molly repeat and leading into a Good Wife rerun. The special will recap key characters and storylines from the first two seasons of the serialized legal drama and will feature a preview of the upcoming Season 3 as well as interviews with the series’ stars Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, Josh Charles, Archie Panjabi, Matt Czuchry, Alan Cumming and Chris Noth as well as co-creators and executive producers Robert King and Michelle King. The Good Wife is nominated for nine Primetime Emmys, including best drama series.

This isn’t a bad idea. Could be a way to sway a few new viewers that are interested in the show, but never checked it out. I just think it’s a little weird they are airing it before a repeat of the series and not before the season premier.
Sounds like a good idea to me. Hopefully they rerun the special before the actual premiere as well, if possible.
… so the show can have a low rated, rerun recap special as its lead-in to the all-important premiere with a day/time change instead of a lead-in from a new episode of The Amazing Race?
Yea, wish this was happening @ 9:30 the night of the actual premiere of Season 3 … THAT would be a fantastic way to catch up those who feel they’ve missed out.
I don’t understand why the show is moving nights. It’s stupid… many good dramas are on Sundays as it is, so I was pleased to watch The Good Wife on Tues as there wasn’t anything else worth watching than night. Why set up a show to lose viewership because of competition?
Perhaps because TGW blew most of Demo and Audience from lead-in NCIS: LA and was getting beat by the likes of Parenthood and BOE? It’s lucky to be saved.
I love the show but come on CBS. That’s Labor Day weekend. Viewership will be way down.
They should also relaunch the show with a new name: “The Photoshopped Wife.
CBS, Julianna Margulies is STUNNING. There’s no need to do this much work to her.
It mystifies me that CBS didn’t put Seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix or Comcast on Demand for the summer to get new viewers on board for Season 3.
Moving a popular show to a new time for seemingly no reason…the first step to destroying a series.
who is that in the picture. it looks like minni driver crossed with courtney cox. strange photo…..
Here’s the most troubling part, and I’ve said it a lot this summer. Football runover is going kill this show. They should have waited, like 24, and Lost, I think it was, until January and run it uninterrupted, if Sunday was the day they really wanted to build. No one will wait up until 11:00 p.m., or beyond, to watch the show. DVRs will rule, my friend.
And yes, Margulies is indeed stunning.
I have no idea why they’re moving this to the Sunday slot…. I reckon there’s more to it than meets the eye!
The comment about football runover is absolutely correct. We won’t have any idea when ‘The Good Wife’ is on if we’re not watching whatever game is running over (as they always do). Is CBS trying to kill one of its most intelligent and successful programs?
