Christina Norman, ousted as CEO of the Oprah Winfrey Network in May, will become executive editor of HuffPost Black Voices, a new site that the AOL Huffington Post Media Group is expected to launch later this week. Norman plans to kick off her new job, first reported by paidContent, by telling the story of her departure from OWN in an essay. “It’s a great lesson for women, that when one door closes, another one opens,” said Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of the AOL Huffington Post Media Group. “There is enormous pressure on high-profile women to succeed, to constantly prove themselves. I met Christina in Los Angeles when she was the head of OWN. After she left, I asked her if she wanted to do something completely different.” Norman was president of MTV prior to leading OWN. Mixed ratings momentum in its early going following its January launch led to her departure; after she left, Discovery Communications COO Peter Liguori stepped in as interim CEO. Last month, it emerged that Oprah Winfrey herself will add the CEO and chief creative officer titles at OWN.

This network is an abysmal failure and Liguori and staff can put all the spin they want, but bottom line, this network was too hyped because of oprah and way too much money was sunk into this network and now it’s failing even more.
She headed MTV!…,With all the crap they do…Yes,she has real talent. How pathetic.shouldn’t have been there in the first place…
Oorah! for Norman, and forget about Norman never having been given a decent chance to succeed at OWN. She’s hitched a ride on a proven vehicle with a star attraction that outshines all others at a time when everyone else is trying to figure out how to turn on the lights. For those in need of charts and graphs, that would be none other than Arianna Huffington.
Now I can hardly wait to see who Huffington chooses to launch her AOL Brown voices website.
If Huffington is interested I have a 2,217 word counterintuitive piece titled “Hispanics Key to America Moving Forward Again,” waiting for word from the New York Times on whether they are willing to go out on a limb and buck the Tea Party. The same Tea Party that with the White House caving today, proved they are clearly driving American politics – as opposed to he who talked about change but has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he knows not the first thing about the concept – much less how to go about implementing any never tried before solutions.
What do you say Arianna? Are you willing to back up that Congressional testimony you gave in the New York Times documentary called Page One, in which you spit in the eye of all things…yeah…I understand. It’s probably a little too risky right now, even for you and your “AOL” Huffington Post to do anything that flies in the face of Tea Party doctrine. Me? Not to worry. I’ll go back to being a good little Mexican and wait to get pulled over by the police, show my ID when I go vote, and sit on my thumbs and watch Obama continue breaking all previous deportation records when he finishes shipping all illegal immigrants back to wherever in the hell they came from in his second term. After all, he can’t afford to let down his TP political masters. You know, those flag waving, blame it on the brown man folks…yeah! Come to think of it, it’s time to dust off my Texas Tea Party twang. That way if Perry wins I won’t miss a beat…because either way, whoever wins in 2012 it’s a Tea Party win.
Oorah!
wait, you mean 2 years as a senator isn’t enough experience to be an effective president?
That would be two years as a “senator” – the quotes indicating he didn’t work any harder then than he does now. The difference now being that he golfs all the time for free and takes a CO2-spewing jumbo jet all over the world to do it.
Self-segregation is always a bad idea, but some need it to stay alive, peddle it for profit and perpetuate it for their own promotion. ‘Content of their character’ be damned – color of their skin will always win. Progressive? No -Regressive. Sad.
Is she gonna work for Ariana for free?
“….. executive editor of HuffPost Black Voices, a new site that the AOL Huffington Post Media Group is expected to launch later this week …..”
Is that the site launching alongside HuffPost White Voices, or is it just a racialist affirmative-action sandbox and echo chamber?
Doesn’t matter; Arianna will turn AOL gay and put it out of business too. Or it’ll die of boredom.
This country will move forward with or w/out Hispancs, (who should be re building Latin America, instead of abandoning it)
