Is this statement correct ??
Cowboys and Aliens was a Bomb & FLOB
and
The Smurfs is considered a success.
I wouldn’t consider smurfs a success.
Hahaha these haters are as rabid and in denial as right-wingers. Even though the proof is there they root for C&A to fail. Unbelievable. WTF is wrong with America these days? Bunch of assholes.
C&A BEAT THE SMURFS. THEY’RE BOTH MOVIES. ARE YOU REALLY ROOTING FOR THE SMURFS? WHAT ARE YOU, 10 YEARS OLD? DEAL WITH IT.
I’d normally agree with you chaotic, but this is a flop. Over the next 3 weeks, TEN wide releases alone are coming out (and plenty of smaller films too). This is a highly saturated August and screen space will be hard to come by. Any film underperforming will get the boot so COWBOYS doesn’t really have any “growing” room to find an audience.
Yup…”sniff sniff”…smells like a flop to me.
Since smurfs showed in fewer theaters, then smurfs is number one, theater to theater smurfs beats cowboys..
SMURFS ARE FUNNY, ENTERTAINING AND FUN!
I saw this movie this weekend, and I liked it. It’s a good popcorn movie, and if you look at it more as a straight up western and substitute evil extra-terrestrial aliens for Indians or rowdy bandits, then you will enjoy this. But the audience I was around definitely skewed much older than expected. I saw of lot of gray-haired viewers.
But considering that the audience skewed older than expected, the box office numbers probably went down because it followed Captain America which opened last week, and I’m sure Crazy Stupid Love took away some of that audience as well, as it was a respite from all of the CGI special effects stuff which has been released since early May.
Yes, but did you smurf the smurfy smurfy smurf
smurfety smurf?
(Interpretation for you non-Smurfspeakers)
Yes, but (if you really did see it twice) did you pay for a full-price ticket both times you saw it? If not, you are a plant!!
Reading your comment was as painful and nonsensical as it probably took to think up.
Steven Spielberg doesn’t have it anymore.
Harrison Ford is old and grumpy.
Daniel Craig isn’t interesting unless he’s Bond. (He’s lucky he pulled that Dragon role.)
Olivia Wilde looks like an alien.. what’s the difference between her and any of the other garden variety actresses her age?)
Jon Fav is waaay overrated.
Just a dumb movie. Really dumb.
That is all.
I’ll bet word of mouth travels and Cowboys & Aliens actually comes out okay. it’s a better movie than it’s being given credit for. A perfect mash up, really. As Daniel Craig said, Favreau and company wanted to place you into the world of a western before bringing on the weirdness, so you’d feel as freaked out as a late 1800s cowboy would. Imo, it works perfectly.
With ancillary and overseas yet to come, I think C&A will live to see another day.
Personally,I’d rather watch ”the smurfs” saturday morning cartoons from way back-now that was fun. It’s funny how they spent so much money on C&A’s,but, the smurfs basically tied them 4 number 1 & gave them a serious run for their money.MARK MY WORDS:WHEN BOTH FILMS HAVE ENDED THEIR CINEMA RUNS-THE SMURFS WILL HAVE MADE MORE MONEY! Add toys & other smurf inspired merchandise & C&A’s will lose by a landslide. As brainy smurf might say: C&A’s-I BELIEVE YOU HAVE BEEN SMURFED!
I just saw it and as someone who watched the Saturday morning cartoons as a kid, I am no stranger to the Smurfs, but holy crap was that one big blue steaming pile of bad. Neil Patrick Harris said it best when he said, “Smurfity smurf smurf smurf!”. Actually, that was one line of the only lines he had that wasn’t cringe-worthy.
Within the first 20 minutes of the movie, the plot involved digging through freshly-spewed cat vomit (which involved a minute-long close-up of Azrael dry heaving complete with all-too-realistic sound from anyone who has ever had a cat) with bits of gooey Fancy Feast and stomach fluids dripping from Gargamel’s fingers (before flicking a glop onto the cat’s face). It only continued downhill from there.
Hope that didn’t count as a spoiler (except of appetites).
Cowboys VS Aliens ,great summer flick! Can’t wait for a sequel!
Better than watching boring TV!
