Deadline has written about the humorous short-film exploits of Miles Fisher, who played the superagent in the spoof Pinkberry: The Movie, and starred in other shorts that included an American Psycho musical parody. All this came before Fisher got his first big movie lead in Final Destination 5, and a supporting role in J. Edgar. Just because he’s gone legit doesn’t mean Fisher has left parodies in his past. In fact, after he went to Warner Bros with an idea for a short that could help spread awareness of its upcoming Final Destination, the studio gave him the money to make the film. Fisher put together his American Psycho producer Jake Avnet and director Dave Green and they’ve made New Romance. It’s a short that manages to keep the body count high, and it looks to me like some horrifying homage to Saved By the Bell. Check it out:

this is awesome! i hear the movie is amazing too! can’t wait!!!!
that was awesome sauce.
dan carter?
that’s fucking hilarious
Fisher has always struck me as a bit of a rich, entitled prick (Harvard legacy, son of the head of the Dallas Federal Reserve and grandson of a Congressman), and he often plays rich, entitled pricks (Gossip Girl, Mad Men, that American Psycho thing) so I figured he wasn’t really acting all that much. But between this and the Tom Cruise impression, I have to admit the guy is funny.
While not to promote the movie per say, Haley Webb from The Final Destination (the only one without a number) does her own version of this, which is also awesome: http://vimeo.com/19906944
Awesome! And the movie is fantastic! Best since FD2.
Mike, are you and Miles dating? Seriously, Are you a journalist or Mile’s publicist?
Agreed. I would love to know what the real connection is. Since when does Deadline give fluff pieces for youtube shorts?
Couldn’t finish it.. unfunny and desperate.
correct. really bad. Too many themes going on cancel each other out. The glee like music, the Saved By the Bell tone and pastel colors combined with slasher film gore, just doesn’t work. Stick to your subject. Too many cooks on it.
Attack of the message board losers. Ok where to start.
Here’s where we’ll start: it was hilarous.
Second, everything you mention from the pastel to the music could be found in Saved By The Bell. You’re aware they’ve had musical episodes right? The only thing that wasn’t there was the gore. The mix of the two are what made it work.
I was there, Jesse Spano never had a thing for me.
NOG: im pretty confident you arent creative enough to come up with your own variation on pizza, let alone something that half as entertaining as this. He is promoting a tasteless slasher film (hence the gore) and he did it in a unique way by combining it with something retro and semi-sentimental. For its purpose, it dont think it could have worked any better. Quit spending your time bagging on other people’s work and do something of your own.
it seems like everyone who worked on this movie had a lot of fun together. bodes well for a film which everyone says is the best of the series… can’t wait. oh yeah, and this is hysterical.
Give Warner Bros. credit for agreeing to go with this. It’s a perfect mixture of cheesy camp and promoting the flick. This thing will go viral quickly. I’m not a FD staffer or involved with this thing in any way, but this might be the beginning of MUCH cheaper movie promotion.
Miles Fisher is a fucking genius. He will be the next one to break.
Genius?
Genius???
And I agree- I smell something fishy… why is DH promoting this guy?
I don’t get it. At all. What am I looking at? Saved by the bell meets horror film? What is this supposed to promote? And how? I’m confused…
really bob? was the headline that says “Final Destination 5″ too much for you to digest?
I wish all actors were this savy to create their own videos alongside releases
Setting the bar real low are we?
Hilarious, well parodied, just works.
Seems like another example of Hollywood “white male privilege” bias trying to placate the audience. Why isn’t Mr. Fisher addressing the REAL killers in this video? Where is a “reference” or “mention” to malaria, AIDS in Africa or genocide?
Mike Fleming loooooves him some Miles Fisher. Miles Fisher seems talented enough but not sure why this site routinely gives him HJ’s. Real leading men get less attention from DHD. Do people really think he’s about to get big? I don’t, but prove me wrong buddy. Prove me wrong.
Why is FINAL DESTINATION 5 cast member Arlen Escarpeta not in this spoof music video. Thats kinda crazy. He is like the 4th lead actor in the movie. I sure hope it’s not racism. How sad, I feel bad for Arlen….
Oh, yes it’s got to be racism, damn the white man and his.. fuck you. You’re a fucking idiot.
I know for a fact that everyone was invited to participate. Unfortunately, Arlen was unavailable when they shot it, as was Tony Todd. The entire cast became instant fast friends during the shoot and remain so today.
To suggest racism right off the bat reveals your pathetic, mewling stupidity. Maybe the reason YOU’RE not invited to participate in things isn’t because of your skin color but because you’re a total asshole.
