Paramount Pictures has released its second trailer for the Craig Brewer-directed reboot of Footloose. The first trailer featured scenes that were very similar to the original film and the response from Deadline readers was less than enthusiastic. This trailer seems to have a bit more energy and showcases the film’s leads, Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough, who are playing the roles originated by Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer in the 1984 original. Better?

It’s so nice to see they’re continuing the old Hollywood tradition of trying to pass off 20-somethings as high school kids. It’s not original 90210 bad, but still…
Is it really that difficult to find decent teenage actors?
Yes. It is. And labor laws are more complex. And they look akward.
Pedro’s right. I played kids onstage until I was old enough to be my characters’ mom, just because no one wants to have to deal with kids or teens in a cast unless they absolutely have to. Labor laws are a pain and the parents’ that come with the kids are a nightmare.
High school kids are supposed to look awkward!
There’s got to be some actors other than Michael Cera who can play a decent awkward teen.
Michael Cera is now a twenty-something himself…
My thoughts exactly….I kept saying, hmmm….aren’t they a little “old” to be high schoolers? Can we say “miscast”?
And Kevin Bacon was 22 in the original…
i’m 19 and i still say HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA gawd give us a break wit these remakes.
sheeesh
this looks like they popped enuff corn to give out free bags for a year!
Yikes, it gets actually worse. And why is the new Kevin Bacon in this film a dwarf?
Because they were originally going to cast Zac Efron, and they had already made the costumes, so ……
I did like the cop pulling over/flicking Ren’s nose shot for shot redux.
This is looking more and more like a shot-for-shot remake of the old movie instead of using tractors the the chicken scene they are using buses.
Hollywood can’t be this pathetic, can they? Oh wait they are remaking Dirty Dancing, so that answer is yes.
I think I’m going to have to watch the original today, so I can get what I just watched out of my head. I really can’t see Dennis Quaid as a minister and have no plans to watch this ridiculousness.
Really looks like a waste of time. Films like Footloose worked becasue of casting. Kevin Bacon just had that something that made that film what it was. Pointless to remake it.
Shame, shame, shame. Forget it’s a cynical remake. Yet another attempt to bilk easy money from a financially strapped audience by trading off a well known name. Forget that for a moment. Even on its own merits, the trailer fails to inspire, and for a film that’s all about dancing, the trailer music is lackluster and tuneless. Try making some original, decent movies that provide good value for money. It’s a radical business strategy, but the movie-going public may just reward you for it.
Pretty amazing how they found a small town where there appears to be no fat kids anywhere. Typical Hollywood crapola.
The movie was silly the first time around.
I rolled my eyes at the ridiculous notion of a town banning public dancing in 1980. About a hundred or so years off, I’d say.
At least the Kenny Loggins tune made the credits bearable.
This is about the best trailer Paramount could produce with what they have to work with but the film should have never been remade in the first place. Two things made the original such a success: the music and Kevin Bacon. I don’t see lightning striking twice.
Oddly, it’s illegal to dance in a bar in Manhattan. They should have set the remake in NYC and there may have been a small chance that I would watch this.
“This one seems to have a bit more energy and showcases the film’s leads, Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough”?!?! Ummmm….did Mike even SEE the original???!!! As if it had NO energy and DIDN’T feature the leads played by, what were their names?…oh yes, KEVIN BACON and LORI SINGER. So now we’re expected to get excited about a pale imitation w/”leads” who are….???? Kenny WORMALD (SRSLY?!?!?) and a “reality show” cast-off who decides she’s now an “actress”. WHY can’t you people leave well enough alone? We know “Dirty Dancing” is next and then you’ll destroy “The Thin Man” w/Depp. Should we be bracing ourselves for “Gone With The Wind” w/Justin Beiber and Miley Cyrus?
GWTW with Justin and Miley – LMFAO!!
If anyone still has the rights to Gone With the Wind and can get Justin and Selena i’m in
He was referring to the original *trailer* to the *remake* you moron, not the original film.
Are they trying to get away that it is not a musical or have musical numbers — or does the movie really not have those?
Pure crapola… from Hollywood..what do you expect.
brilliant casting julianne hough as the mother of— wait, what? oh. ohhh. oh no.
they should pay US to go see this.
stop the remakes.
Trying to place that accent. Is he from Bostalia?
No matter how many trailers they do, the ONLY way it would get better is if Paramount decided to re-release the original..
Worse.
Seriously – if you’re going to just make a shot for shot remake with the same props, costumes and scenery… why not save the money and re-release the original since it clearly still resonates?
that’s what i always think.
wow – really? much better trailer, well cut, good music bed.
most of your comments are valid but let’s face it – none of you sound like the target audience for this movie. This trailer is much better work.
Even less interest now…and, in only a few brief shots Dennis Quaid is so over the top…I feel a Sarah Palin performance coming.
It kind of looks like Step Up 4 with, but with Dennis Quaid. Anyways, I just don’t see this movie marketing well to guys of any age group? What’s going to make (most) guys see another dance flick. (Yes, I know it’s a remake but lets keep it as a Broadway musical not a movie)
I think it has potential. I feel better about the remake now.
Wow. They managed to redo the concept of “Footloose” and make it WORSE. Not cool at all. Kevin Bacon can rest easy from Footloose I. His legacy is secure!
Did I just see someone doing the chicken dance?
don’t they have more and better dancing to show yet? seems like a bad sign…..
Julianne Hough is cute and apparently she can dance, but that voice, oh my god, I don’t think I could listen to that for an entire movie.
Profoundly awful.
