  • I know Open Road is good at screwing everyone else’s movies out of trailer slots (Anti-Trust?) but if this is what they’re using to sell their first film then they’re in a lot of trouble.

  • Cliche meltdown! Evacuate the area! Run for your life!

You can ONLY have that many cliches in one film if Steven Seagal is in there, too, staggering around, mumbling, damping down all the cliche reactions.

Otherwise it’s just too dangerous. Will humans never learn?

  • The 80′s called, they want their soundtrack back.

Comment by BC — Thursday August 4, 2011 @ 1:27pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • I think they forgot the “I’m getting too old for this sh@t” cliche. Got all the others. And Scorpions on the soundtrack? Yikes.

  • Could this film please shoot itself in its empty head before hitting the theater and save us all a lot of boredom. These filmmakers need to learn the difference between exhillarating and exhausting, ’cause this trailer made me feel tired. When you can’t cut an exciting two minutes out of an action film or fill one moment that we haven’t seen before, you pretty much better pray that there are enough 15 year old non-discriminating boys in the world and that the DVD sales are through the roof. Hey DeNiro, was Chuck Norris busy?

  • It’s sounds like a few bitter people on this site…think the trailer ROCKS…maybe ur too old, last I checked the 80′s are back in!

    • >maybe ur too old

Where have you gone, Sam Peckinpah?
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you
      Woo, woo, woo
What’s that you say, Miss Movie Gal?
Sam Peckinpah has left and gone away
      Hey, hey, hey
      Hey, hey, hey

  • “Now the gloves are off.”

“You had him, you let him get away.”

    “Let’s finish this.”

    “This guy is good.”

Seriously? This is the state of screenwriting these days? Sad. And these are the lines they HIGHLIGHTED.

That said, this movie does look badass. Even liked De Niro kicking ass.

  • I had a self realisation when watching this trailer. That Robert De Niro is the greatest performance artist of all time. I’m serious. After seeing Machete, Limitless and now the trailer for Killer Elite, I came to the conclusion that Robert De Niro actually wants his career to implode. He is a living tragicomedy.

    • I figure, nothing can be worse than Little Fockers for him. He’s such a big name, nothing can really implode him in the industry.

  • Why must everyone on this site be so snarky . . . I agree that this trailer is solid and will bring in the Statham fans that have been loyal thru all the Lionsgate flicks

  • this trailer was 2 mins too long

  • Definitely one for Netflix, not the theatre. I agree with most of the postings here. Looks a bit cliche and nothing I haven’t seen a dozen times over. Plus, I’m not a big Statham fan.

Comment by Zach — Thursday August 4, 2011 @ 4:07pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • I like all the actors involved, thrillers and am a pretty forgiving audience for a trailer, but man did I not care bout this one at all. It looked incredibly generic and forgettable. And I wanted to like it. EVen the name is horrendously generic. It shocks me at the level of talent involved in this after watching the trailer. I’m hoping it is better than it looks.

Comment by Tim W. — Thursday August 4, 2011 @ 4:18pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • How does Clive Owen keep getting work? Isn’t he box office poison?

Comment by zookeeper — Thursday August 4, 2011 @ 7:09pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Wow, you know a movie is in trouble when there are more comments posted on Deadline, than there are the movies FB or twitter page……OUCH!!!!!

Comment by zachariah — Thursday August 4, 2011 @ 8:10pm PDT  Reply to this post
    • why ouch? killer elite has tons of facebook and twitter followers. last i checked the movie has over 40 grand and it’s not evening opening for almost 2 months

  • Say what you will, that chair thing was pretty awesome.

Comment by Jack Meyhoffer — Thursday August 4, 2011 @ 9:41pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Like clockwork, the trailer remembers to throw in a bikini and an ass shot before it ends to remind its audience: “Yep, there’s skin, but don’t worry, that’s all the girls are good for.”

Comment by Michael — Friday August 5, 2011 @ 6:25am PDT  Reply to this post
  • Why the hate for the 80s? Does no one realize the damn film takes place IN THE 80s?!??! Clueless.
