The Roman Polanski-directed Carnage is up with a new trailer. The drama, an adaptation of the hit Broadway play God of Carnage, stars Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, John C. Reilly and Christoph Waltz. The film opens the New York Film Festival and, obviously, Polanski won’t be there to take the bows.

Waltz seems to be the only one here who’s modulating his performance for the screen.
Wow, that was bad. Shockingly bad.
Agreed. Who would pay money to see this in a theater? I don’t think I’d want to spend two minutes with these people, let alone two hours.
Ye gads.
I’ve been waiting a long time for another Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe. Not sure this one will do it from the trailer, but looks interesting. All four actors rock so I’m bullish.
It’s about time they gave Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf a reboot. But I can’t quite tell if this is a remake or a prequel. Maybe it’s just a reimagining.
I miss Jeff Daniels already!
Entire film takes place in a house? If yes, no see for me!
General question: why is EVERY trailer posted on Deadline described as “hot?” Let’s face it, a lot of them are just okay, and some are just plain bad.) I’d suggest “new” as a more appropriate adjective.
Starring: people who are officially ooookaaaaay with rape.
I’m sure they’re REALLY worried about joining such actors as Walter Matthau, Betty Buckley, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Kingsley, Frank Langella, Olivia Williams, and Tom Wilkinson as people who worked with Polanski after 1977.
I, like all civilized, decent people in the world at large, pledged long ago never to willingly give Roman Polanski one cent of our money to see his movies, or give him even a shred of our attention, other than to revile him.
well said. I’m disappointed in Jodie & Kate, to work with a child molestor
It’s a bottle movie! I for one, am intigued by the casting and peerformances.
Can’t wait for the Community parody of it!
One of the best previews I’ve seen in a LONG time. Four excellent actors guided by an excellent director is a rare pleasure.
Regarding the pedophilic rapist director: the reality is that he’ll continue to be allowed by someone somewhere to make movies (many of them better than most out there) so ultimately, if I boycott seeing this film or not, it will have zero effect on Polanski’s life and work.
Carnage BY ROMAN POLANSKI?!!
Did he write it under a pseudonym? That’s a preposterous vanity title.
It’s not uncommon to say: “Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese”, “The Searchers by John Ford”, “Citizen Kane by Orson Welles”, or “Chinatown by Roman Polanski”. Film is a director’s medium.
When The Accused came out, Jodie Foster gave a lot of interviews talking about the film and the issue of rape. Helped her with the Oscar.
Now…she makes a movie for a rapist.
Nice one, you bitch.
(Cue the liberal defenders of both…)
When you added “you bitch,” you lost the moral highground and reduced yourself to one more cowardly, faceless, worthless internet commenter.
Nice one.
I claim no “moral highground.” I only use the term that’s lately been championed by liberal women all over the media, when they defended its use against conservative women like Palin.
Maybe you forgot that.
And what a transparent (and rather pathetic) attempt to disregard the truth of what happened: she is a complete hypocrite or worse, no matter what you think of me.
Nice one.
Reminder: Roman Polanski raped a child
so why even watch let alone argue and merits of his crud!!!

I love it when directors show you enough film in the trailer to make the decision to see it or not, thanks Roman!
The Broadway play was hilarious. They should have stuck with that cast.
And a different director.
This looks like all the laughs have been vacuumed out.
the london play with ralph fiennes and that woman from tumble weed–which was staged before the broadway run had far better performances.
this film looks awful. i think james cameron needs to have a word with kate winslet.
i still think reza’s film Art would translate better on screen.
I’m kind of shocked, based on the cast and the play’s pedigree. This does not look good at all.
Nothing is more painful than hearing a foreign actor (trying to sound American) say a word with an “r” in it. This looks really, really, really, really, bad. And I LOVE these actors, all of them brilliant.
As mothers, don’t Foster and Winslet have any empathy for Polanski ‘s victim?
Great, two hours in a house getting lectured by Roman Polanski about human rights and victims. Not satisfied with simply torturing youngsters, he’s taken his campaign to torturing the art house ticket buyer.
i think you guys are out of it. looks great. and ghost writer was great too.
