Summit Entertainment has released a trailer for The Darkest Hour, an alien invasion movie that focuses on a group of kids on holiday in Moscow when crazy things begin happening. The Chris Gorak-directed pic stars Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella. It will be released Dec. 23.

ok, non-humanoid or insectile aliens. something different. nice.
AND they are orange and not green. Seriously, why are aliens always green?
Looks like Cloverfield+Ghostbusters+Predator+massive bag of cliches
Really? It’s not much like any of those movies at all besides the fact that there is a supernatural alien enemy. I guess in Cloverfield they had to survive…in a city? What are you talking about?
Also just for future reference…if you need to combine three+ movies make your point…chances are it’s a pretty original movie.
You’re stretching! Maybe you should take a snark break.
Hm. Maybe.
Looks very interesting. Reminds me of one of the original Jonny Quest episodes. Invisible monster sucking up energy. Maybe they should throw bags of paint at it so they can see it.
So that was the entire movie right?
hilarious!
it really is the whole story. like a short film
Not quite.
Once again, they show the whole movie in 2 minutes. Will they ever learn that this makes people less inclined to see it?
Why I feel its so close to SKYLINE but in Moscow?? and also whats up with the release date?? this is summit card for the holidays??
Agreed.
SKYLINE in 3D. This looks horrible.
If you’re going to make an Earth invasion pic you need spaceships, ray guns, and scary aliens (a la WotW, Independence Day). Nobody gives a crap about lightning bolts that suck up energy and zap people (and at least one barking dog). This has dud written all over it.
“From the director of Wanted” is something you put in your trailer if you don’t want people to see it.
“From the visionary director of Wanted”
Not so hot.
Wow, I’ve seen it all: The villains are the proton pack energy streams from Ghostbusters.
Looks visually interesting with a fresh location (for U.S. movies). But on the other hand, good grief, ANOTHER alien attack film?
Looks like Ben Magid’s Invasion script with a post Battle LA tweak.
PLEASE NO MORE ALIEN INVASION MOVIES, TV SHOWS, or COMICS!!!! Enough already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No more dramas! We’ve heard them all!
Can’t they put some lifts in Hirsch’s shoes? He looks … tiny.
Made for a price so they shouldn’t lose their shirts, but terrible FX (reflective of a cheap approach to budget). Could someone have asked the DP to use atmosphere once in a while….awful. – pass -
Keep it up Hutch, you’ll be unemployed in no time.
So the girls just stand around and scream while the boys get to shoot the weapons. Way to go, progress.
I hear one of the female characters realizes that she’s in a shitty movie and blows herself up w/ a bazooka.
Oh, spoiler…
Another alien invasion flick? Count me in! This actually looks rather different from the Skyline/Battla:LA stuff we saw earlier this year. Not original in concept, but original in execution. I for one am looking forward to this.
Wow. Looks like some Euro dreck you’d expect to find in the darkest corner of the Berlin film market, straight to video section. How awful.
