It looks like the ABC Family version of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. If ABC family was local access television and Ben Button had been directed by Owe Boll. Disney needs to stick to Dick Cook franchises (Pirates), Pixar movies, Marvel brands already established by Paramount and avoid any/everything else.
Disney used to come out with some amazing live action family films that hold up over time.
Might Ducks
Heavyweights
Cool Runnings
Angels in the Outfield (weakest one but ill include it)
A lost era that needs new life put into it.
you want francises go see another super hero flick. your part of the problem
good thing that Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton didn’t pee in a fountain and wish they could change bodies with Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman.
Why should they “avoid any/everything else?” And if they did, you’d be the first person to accuse them of only making “Dick Cook franchises.”
I’m suggesting they avoid everything else because the performance of TRON, Prom & (assuming their tracking stays weak) Fright Night suggests that they can’t make or market other types of films. Do you honestly think that this is a good trailer?
I suspect this film is not made for you.
Intriguing. On brand, but with a new edge. And love this cast. Can’t wait to see it!
Why would anyone pay $14 to see Jennifer Garner dance around with some kid who lifts his arms in the air? Pass.
Yes, obviously nothing else happens in the movie. Good call.
So weird hearing Joel with an American accent.
so THATS how babies are made!
This was a great story, and I’m glad to see that the trailer captured the tone perfectly. Well done, more movies about hope and optimism please.
is this based on a book? or did you mean that you’ve read the script?
Plus one.
Why didn’t they just put an ad in the PennySaver to adopt a kid? I’m sure there’s some 16 yr old pregnant girl out there willing to give her baby up again to Jennifer Garner.
I wonder how long the SHAWSHANK scene is with the kid sticking out his arms, since the trailer editor felt the need to come back to it at least twice. I hope it’s really long. I love when characters close their eyes and reach out to God.
>”Yes, obviously nothing else happens in the movie. Good call.”<
Ha!
When he lifted his arms in the air I thought I was seeing the trailer for Shawshank: Just Kids’in.
It looks like something different – I’m all for different! And I’m a big fan of Jennifer Garner, so I’ll definitely see this.
This story will surprise you I am sure. Whether or not it is anomalous in comparison to Disney’s usual mandate, it coincides with their penchant for family films.
I can see why people would make comments about ABC Family, etc. and I’m too cynical to be the target audience – but I think it’s a pretty good trailer. Plus, lots of people deal with infertility/wanting a family. If it’s a good film, I wish them well.
This looks pretty cool. Nice to see someone telling an original story.
