UPDATE: The feature film Fireflies in the Garden was shot in 2007 and had been languishing. But today producers Vanessa Coifman, Marco Weber, and Sukee Chew said they’ll finally release the film domestically. Written and directed by Dennis Lee, the semi-autobiographical R-rated Fireflies will be shown on Oct. 14 in New York, LA, Chicago, and San Francisco. No name of the distributor, however. The film initially bowed at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2008 from Senator Entertainment and was released in a handful of foreign territories. But with stars like Julia Roberts and Ryan Reynolds joining Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, and Carrie-Anne Moss, the producers obviously are hoping it will find a U.S. audience.

Excellent! That will make it a hat trick of box office under-performers for Ryan Reynolds in this year’s release calendar. Congrats!
Well he is still out there beating the pavement and if he is given the opportunity why quit??? Would you??
Yes, Senator’s troubles had something to do with the delayed release of this film. But far more important is the fact that it’s a stinker.
Wow. Seems like Ry-Rey is in everything. He’s the new Kevin Bacon. Good for him. He’s come a long way from being one of two guys, who worked with a girl in a pizza place.
Saw the film back in 2008. It’s actually pretty good, but nothing we haven’t seen before. Ryan Reynolds is the only performance that I remember from the film and he was very good.
I have heard that this is Ryan best role. A shame the previous films came out first. Perhaps this could fix the damage???
It’s a good film and Reynolds is excellent but it won’t sell well.
Don’t know how the movie is, but that’s the worst photoshop job I’ve ever seen. Look at Julia’s head. Yeesh.
The movie is weak and should have gone straight to DVD.
Saw it and I concur. It’s a stinker.
Now I understand why Green Lantern underperformed. Only older women seem to like Ryan Reynolds!
Read in Variety that it’s a new cut so perhaps the filmmakers have done some work to the film?
