EXCLUSIVE: Mark Wahlberg is in negotiations to star in 2 Guns for Universal Pictures. The pic is based on a Steven Grant graphic novel, and has a script written by Blake Masters. The graphic novel is published by Boom! Studios. Marc Platt is producing along with Boom!’s Andrew Cosby and Ross Richie. The drama is about a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer who unwittingly investigate each other as each steals mob money. This has been a studio priority for some time. David O Russell had set his sights on writing a draft with the idea he might direct it with Vince Vaughn in one of the leads. Wahlberg’s repped by WME and Leverage.
Wahlberg is locked to star alongside Russell Crowe in Broken City, the Allen Hughes-directed noir drama that will shoot in November. Wahlberg is producing that Brian Tucker-scripted project with Stephen Levinson, Randall Emmett, George Furla and Hughes and Emmett/Furla Films is financing the $60 million film. Wahlberg just completed the Baltasar Kormakur-directed drama Contraband, which he and Levinson also produced with Working Title.

Another graphic novel adaptation. Good grief. These people will never learn.
C’mon, it’s not like it’s another superhero comic adaptation. It’s crime fiction, it might as well be a prose novel.
Adam,
This is a good idea for Universal…make the deal with Mark.
LOVE SEEING MR. WAHLBERG WIN. HE PUTS HIS HEART&SOUL INTO EVERY ROLE HE DOES. EVEN BETTER THAN THAT HE TAKES CARE OF HIS TEAM/FRIENDS GIVES BACK THROUGH HIS FOUNDATION. AMAZING HOW MR. WAHLBERG WAS A STREET KID GOING DOWN A ROAD TO NOWHERE NOW HE IS A REFERENCE POINT OF WHAT IS POSSIBLE
Blake Masters is a master…
Looking forward to this.
why do so many losers complain about the movies that are getting made? why? if you are so tired of it why don’t you write your own movie and sell it instead of sitting down in front a computer hating EVERYTHING that gets made … losers like I said .. Mark Wahlberg is the best!!!!
O’Russell will prob do a good job, but a reasons so many book or comi book films struggle is they throw a bunch of names and money before there is even a script that tells you its true potential for being a good film then theyre in too deep to turn back when they get a script that isnt up to snuff.
you can make a good movie from a good script, you can make a bad movie from a good script, but you cant make a a good movie from a bad script.
its one thing to figure it out as you go on a spfx blockbuster that will still draw because of it genre, but a drama is a little dicier.
Wally Rocks. Let’s just hope the rewrite is done by Zaillian not Levien and Koppelman.
I think you are a great actor
