When NFL teams win the Super Bowl, they go to Disneyland; when celebrities go to jail, they get a reality show. VH1 just announced it has greenlighted a new 10-episode reality series starring rapper T.I., who is readjusting to life as a free man and recording a new album after being incarcerated for nearly a year in a federal prison in Arkansas — his second stint in three years. The yet-untitled series will premiere Dec. 5. Grammy-winning T.I., who has a wife and kids, has an acting background — he co-starred in and produced the Sony heist movie Takers, which did very well at the box office, opening at No. 1 last August. A couple of days later, T.I. was arrested.

is the show going to be about how he finds a way back into jail?? I bet he will!
Thank goodness TI is free again and can get back to makin great music. The hip hop world cannot survive if Kanye and JayZ are the faces of the industry.
Oh, lemme guess… he’s got “God” on his side now, right? Curious how they only find God AFTER they fuck up. Congrats, VH1.
here are some free ideas:
T.I. should buy a barber shop or a convenience store for his slacker cousin / brother / nephew to run.
Then hang out there all the time with his homeboys.
T.I.’s kids should try to become rappers or actors.
Message to viewers: Be a rapper. Mess up, go to jail, and you get a reality show.
Yet they complain about Obama “not doing enough for the black community.”
What’s sad is T.I. as an actor was good in “Takers” and “American Gangster.”
Black people in this country are doomed if these are the heroes, however.
I’m very curious to who ‘they’ are? And if you truly believe that T.I. is a hero to the black community because a network decided to give him a show you are sadly mistake and disconnected.
PS You may want to adjust your message to viewers as more than 60% of the celebrity reality stars are dealing with dysfunctional families, drug use and or past prison time. I’m not really sure its a rapper thing.
Well, if Michael Vick can do prison time for the pooch “crimes” and get a new $100 million football contract this week from the Eagles, the sky is the limit for T.I. because he is more talented than Fifty Cent, Lil Wayne or Ludacris. (Though I think Kanye still has him beat in the talent department by a hair…then again, Kanye is one weird bag of dysfunctional disposition that jousts with his very own God-given musical gifts.) Oh, and there’s this — T.I. can act his ass off, too. He pretty much saved “ATL” and was fabulous in the quiet money hit “Takers” and he has more on screen charisma than Tyrese Gibson or Ludacris (or any current male musician trying to edge into the acting game) could pray for in their biggest Oscar celluloid dreams.
Wow. All of these comments are surprisingly veering on RACISM. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. You should now that rehabilitation is not easy and it takes time to reform after being accustomed to living your life a certain way for so long. I for one am rooting for T.I. to overcome his demons this time around.
VH1 is slowly turning into BET..Basketball Wives..LaLas Full Court Life..this TI project..and im lovin every minute of it..
I dig T.I., but he must have one helluva an agent. Gift that keeps on giving, but I do hope the next one isn’t about how he goes back to jail as first commenter wondered.
Of course these comments are veering on racism, this is what cowards do. T.I. gets a reality show after a major screw up and the racist trolls circle the wagons. Kim K., Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan (or atleast her trainwreck of a family), etc., etc. get shows after major screw ups and they’re the darlings of TV. It’s just plain pathetic! Bottom line, racists are the lowest forms of humanity in existence!
And your comment is also racist. Many people were decrying the other people you mentioned getting reality shows after public screw ups that did not even result in jail time in most circumstances (Lindsay Lohan being the exception in that list of yours).
Grow up. People are allowed to make negative comments about the “hip-hop” heroes without it being automatically racist. Get a brain, get a life, and raise your sights higher than T.I. as a role model.
Afrer reading the comments twice I see only two comments that could be seen as event slightly racist, Schadenfreude just slightly swayin more that way the last line of the comment. Even though I don’t see it that way. I see how some might have a question as I do, why is he only a role modl for the black community? Can’t he be a role model for all people? and then Marty to me his entire comment could be seen two ways so I guess it depends on the person. Could be seen as stereo typing against rappers or as stereo typing blacks so I guess the context in wich it was written would say if its whether or not it sways in that direction. Again I don’t see either as being racist, but see where others could see it that way. Santa, I agree with what ur sayin from the words grow up and on. I do like T.I.’s music and acting. I do agree, set the bar just a lil higher. Don’t go to prison as he did but follow your dreams and appreciate T.I for his talent.
