EXCLUSIVE: Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, co-creators of Disney Channel’s flagship animated series Phineas and Ferb, have signed separate exclusive, multi-year, multimillion-dollar deals with Disney Television Animation. Under the pacts, the two will continue on the
Emmy-winning series they created and executive produce for another season. Also as part of the deals, Povenmire and Marsh are now officially attached to the Phineas and Ferb feature being developed at Disney. The two are already working on the script. Additionally, the deals include a new pilot, likely a Phineas and Ferb spinoff, and other future development for Povenmire and Marsh, who also have a piece of the franchise’s merchandising profits.
The pacts come on the heels of the Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension TV movie drawing 7.6 million viewers in its debut this month to become the most-watched cable movie of the year and the third-highest-rated movie in Disney Channel history. After putting an emphasis on live-action programming for a while, Disney has renewed its focus on TV animation, which will result in the doubling of the number of animated episodes on Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior in 2012 versus 2010. A main part of Disney TV Animation’s strategy has been concentrating on “creator-driven” series. Its first success in that direction was Povenmire and Marsh’s mega hit Phineas and Ferb, which was followed by Noah Z. Jones’ Fish Hooks and others. Povenmire is with WME, Marsh with Natural Talent.

My kids are nuts for P&F and I have to say I really enjoy watching it with them. Ashley Tisdale does exceptional voice work as the perpetually amped up Candace and the Dr dufenschmertz stuff is always very funny. They should spin off Vanessa and Norm to do a show together! Definitely fun stuff. Best of luck to these guys.
These guys have created a funny, great show for all ages. Glad to see Disney do the right thing and lock these guys up. Very good news.
Love these guys and P&F. The show is one of the funniest, cleverest things on TV, and there were parts of the movie that actually made me misty eyed. Hooray for talented people getting deals!
Congrats to these two. The fact that it took them 16 years of pitching this idea before it actually got a chance… well it gives me hope and the strength to keep pushing on when no one will give my show a chance. So thanks for that and continued success.
If there is a god, it will be a Dr. Doofenshmirtz spinoff…the man is pure comedy gold!
Very well deserved. Dan and Swampy are class acts and their story of perseverance and dedication to P&F should be taught in everything film school. Both of them still get the biggest smile on their face when a fan comes up and tells them how much they love their show.
This is great news! these guys are great innovators..Vincent Martella the voice of Phineas is awesome! I met him a while back and what a great kid. Disney should do something with him live action since he is one of the good ones out there…
I love it when good things happen to good people.
Yeah, my kids love P&F and Ant Farm and I gotta say – these shows have clever and smart jokes – stuff that will go over many kids’ heads but its there for teens and adults to get and enjoy as well. Good for Dan & Jeff and good for Disney for allowing some hip and edgy stuff to appear on the channel!
Great news. Phineas and Ferb is a great show for parents to be able to watch and enjoy with their kids. I never knew it was such a long journey for these guys to success until I read the comments here, but that makes me even happier for them. Keep up the great work guys!
I just discovered this show about a month ago, and I love it! Much like “Kim Possible” some years ago, “Phineas and Ferb” stands out as an enjoyable island of quality in the annoying ocean of mediocrity that is Disney Channel (I only hope that the channel’s management will spread the creator-driven philosophy – very much a principle of Walt – throughout the schedule).
Nope! If i don’t get my Kim Possible movie you don’t deserve this.
“Well Ma’am, aren’t you a little old to be such a huge fan of Phineas and Ferb?”
“Why, yes…yes I am (I totally am..lol).”
P&F is my guilty pleasure. Funny. Irreverent. Great writing. And Swampy is truly one of the good guys.
I hope it’s “Take Two” with Phineas & Ferb. I love that show!
Yeah but, no episodes will be produced.
Sorry!
Thanks good thats news. The kids love Phineas and Ferb.
I’ve never watched a TV show that makes me want to wear a T-shirt of one of its characters. But P&F is so well crafted, any parent I know who has seen it is hooked.
These guys are my heros. Well done.
YES!!!!! Phineas and Ferb rocks!!! I cannot wait to see what the two creators can come up with next!!
Jeff and Dan are my heroes, I’m glad their back in action. Things were starting to get a little shakey with less episode coming out. I’m looking forward to this ‘Pilot’.
Phineas and Ferb is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I’m 21 years old. Keep the clever one-liners, zany plot lines, creativity, and awesome music coming, guys! However, I think the disney channel should know… Fish Hooks is NOT clever. Its like… liver as compared to Phineas and Ferb’s filet mignon. Seriously. You guys need to get your viewers to tell you whats good, because whoever’s idea fish hooks was…. no. But you guys hit the nail on the head with Phineas and Ferb! A-G-L-E-T! Don’t forget it!
just have to say that me and my 4 yr old love phieas and ferb and that we will watch it together until he is no longer interested and then i guess ill just watch it by my self.
