Frank Potenza, a former New York City police officer and security guard who found a second career as a regular on his nephew Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show, died early this morning. He was 77. Potenza, a Korean War veteran, joined ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2003 as guard and cast member. Known as Uncle Frank, he was often paired in comedy bits with Guillermo Rodriguez, a real-life parking lot security guard for the show. He also did location pieces with his ex-wife, chronicling their stints on a diary farm, learning self-defense, etc. “Frank Potenza was beloved by his co-workers and considered an uncle to all,” JKL said in a statement. “His kindness and humor will be missed by everyone he touched.”

sad to hear….he was always fun to watch. rip
Sorry to hear that, I always liked the Uncle Frank bits.
It still brings a laugh when I think about his Korea story, wherein as soon as he got there, the communists signed the armistice…because they had heard he was in-country.
This is truly sad. Uncle Frank had a lovable characteristic about him on the show. You’ll be missed.
Aww i am a jkl man but have not been able to watch it in a while. I always loved uncle frank
