DVR viewing boosted TNT’s hit Rizzoli & Isles to a season high in total viewers. In Live+7, the show’s Aug. 8 episode drew more than 9.1 million viewers, 2.6 million of them in the adults 18-49 demo and 3.4 million in adults 25-54. Veteran The Closer didn’t do too shabby either, logging 8.7 million viewers in Live+7, 2.5 million adults 18-49 and 3.2 million adults 25-54 for its Aug. 8 episode.

I just don’t understand the love for this show. It’s awful. Angie Harmon can not handle anything remotely comedic.
I like Sasha Alexander, who must kick herself every day for leaving NCIS.
The episode where they lead ppl to believe they are lovers? Oh. My. God. The horror. Jokes died for that episode. They died.
Agree 100%. I have tried to watch it several times and find it totally ridiculous. Angie Harmon is painful; I guess she peaked on L&O.
I hear people all the time talking about how bad ‘Rizzoli and Isles’ is, and up until last week I thought it was some kind of tomato sauce.
The only reason that this show has high ratings is because. A lot of TNT core audience comes from running a lot of syndicated crime procedural. After canceling Men of Certain Age. TNT made it clear that they are no longer focus on adding credibility to the brand statement “we know drama” That why I stick with HBO,FX,and AMC when i wand quality TV.
I love it!
The show does great numbers for TNT, meanwhile their development team bad mouths the show to all the agencies in meetings because they don’t feel it has any edge.
I read one of the books (and started another but didn’t finish it) because I was curious how they might be different after seeing the show. The ones I read are really technical, heavy on medical procedure, as well as humorless and dark — which is great if you like that sort of thing. A show with that feel would never have been made for or by a network like TNT or USA etc. That’s not what why we tune into those networks. So if you are saying they should have made a TV show that was just like the books, I’d tell you I wouldn’t be watching it — and I bet a lot of other people would feel the same way.
I hope u r joking!
See? This is what’s great about this country: choice. The two grumblers above can simply choose to watch something else. But nine million people like the show… and I am one of them. And no, I’m not an imbecile, nor do I lack taste, nor am I incapable of discerning “funny” from “not funny.”
I think this show finds the right blend of serious drama/mystery and light/funny relationship material. It’s that blend that allows (for me) a show about murder to be entertaining.
As for Angie Harmon, ok, she’s not the best actress who ever lived, but she’s good enough here. And Sasha is great with her on screen – they’re FUN to watch together. And mostly, it works because the stories work. They get the bad guy, they have realistic lives and realistic relationships and that’s why the (in-context) jokes make me laugh. Plus there always seems to be a deeper thematic element that makes me think. I like shows where it all get tied up neatly every time with a happy ending. Some of these type of shows are dumb — this one isn’t.
I like Sasha Alexander from NCIS and Angie Harmon is okay I guess, she has that tough-cop voice down. The chemistry between the leads is great, but the cases of the week and the weak family drama is just boring. I still watch, but I’ll check Facebook or something during. I wish they had stayed truer to the books – not about appearance or anything, Angie Harmon is about as close as Hollywood will get to book-Jane’s appearance, but the grit of those stories and characters – Korsak being fat, a drunk, but a great detective; Jane’s brothers being horrible; Maura’s detached personality and her relationship with Fr. Brophy, on and on. Jane is way over emotional on this show. Korsak is a nice old guy and Jane’s whole family is nice to her too. Maura is basically the lady from Bones. This show had such potential with the material it was given and it utilized some of that energy the first season but this season quality has been painfully absent from everything but the actors’ performances.
I don’t watch shows about nutbag conservative republicans like Harmon. I can’t pretend she’s anything else.
The show is not about Harmon. What kind of idiot are you?
TNT used to produces all its shows under Screen Actors Guild contracts e.g. “The Closer”. Then AFTRA came along and sold out actors.
Now TNT produces all its shows under AFTRA contracts and actors don’t get paid residuals. If you work on TNT’s “The Closer” you get residuals. Work on “Rizzoli & Isles” on the same network, NO residuals, because there are 12 “exhibition windows” on TNT’s AFTRA shows. And actor don’t get to vote on AFTRA basic cable contracts.
It is an under reported scandal. AFTRA is a union that no actor respects. They are lowering, not raising actors standard of living . They are taking over SAG TV jurisdiction against the wishes of actors. They are doing this to extort actors into voting for a SAG/AFTRA merger. A merger with this corrupt union will enrich the pension fund of broadcasters but destroy actors livelihoods.
Decertify AFTRA.
I am one of the 9 million who watch- I have seen every episode and I love it! I find it ENTERTAINING. To each his or her own….don’t see why anyone feels the need to post negative comments.
Rizzoli & Isles is a fun show with a great cast.
It doesn’t take itself as seriously as some of the totally overrated stuffy boring overpraised dramas currently on cable such as Boardwalk Empire (what an F’ing snoozefest) or Sons of Anarchy (embarassingly over the top violence). Or those much rewarded “comedies” on Showtime like Nurse Jackie and The Big C, both which are about as funny as terminal cancer.
And the viewers agree.
I totally love it! Both Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander are great. I love the humor, the light flirting, the friendships, the family’s and the storylines. I have watched each episode at least 2 times and I still can’t get enough.
Keep’m coming TNT!
I am a HUGE fan of the show and will be watching tonight as a matter of fact.
I really like Rizzoli and Isles. I don’t watch it for the cases and police storyline. I watch Rizzoli and Isles for the relationships between all of the main characters. The interplay between Jane and Maura is funny and enjoyable to watch. I look forward to the show every week because it always makes me laugh and puts me in a good mood. Great show! I wish them continued success.
The show is beyond unwatchable. It can’t even carry The Closer’s craft service table. That said they should get residuals because they are not determined by the creative depth of a show or the amount of people that watch them. That is really unfair.
I love this show and I would guess the two stars Angie and Sasha like having a cable show with a shorter filming schedule where they can spend more time with their families. Angie is very funny and she works great with Sasha.
I don’t think Sasha is kicking herself for being on a top rated TV Show that seems to be a fun set from what I have read.
This is a great show …2 hot females pretending to be lovers? Nice
