EXCLUSIVE: The Proposal co-stars and good friends Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock are teaming again, this time in television. Reynolds and Bullock are expected to lead the voice cast of And Then There Was Gordon, an animated comedy from Reynolds and Allan Loeb’s recently launched TV company DarkFire, which has received a presentation order from Fox. Reynolds and Allan Loeb will co-write the script together, with Reynolds also voicing a character. Bullock is in talks to join the project as an executive producer and a lead cast member. And Then There Was Gordon centers on an ordinary child surrounded by his prodigy siblings and brilliant, but neurotic mother, a role I hear Bullock is eyed for. 20th Century Fox TV, where DarkFire has a first-look deal, is producing. Bullock would executive produce alongside DarkFire principals Reynolds, Loeb, Steven Pearl and Jonathon Komack Martin, all repped by CAA. And Then There Was Gordon seems to be the polar opposite to Fox/20th TV’s upcoming animated series Allen Gregory, which centers on a boy prodigy surrounded by average kids. This marks the writing debut for Reynolds, while Loeb’s writing credits include features Just Go With It and Wall Street 2.
In addition to boxoffice hit The Proposal, Reynolds and Bullock are attached to star together in a feature followup, Most Wanted, reuniting with writer Pete Chiarelli and director Anne Fletcher. Bullock previously executive produced and did an arc on ABC’s comedy George Lopez after championing the then-little known comedian Lopez. This is the second sale for DarkFire. last week, the company received a put pilot commitment from Fox for comedy Guidance. Tyler Labine is attached to star in and produce the project, which is described as an adult buddy comedy set in high school.
In announcing the launch of their company in May, Loeb told me he and Reynolds will be focusing on comedy development, and while the emphasis will be on live-action comedies, DarkFire may also pursue animated projects. “I don’t think anyone can come close to Seth MacFarlane, but we’d like to try,” Loeb said back then. Three months later, he and Reynolds are throwing their hats in the animated comedy ring in a major way.

Allan Loeb? comedy? Isn’t this the guy who wrote “The Dilemma” and “The Switch?”
Why don’t those two get a room
It’s a mistake for Fox to be doing these limited high-concept cartoons. Every hit animated sitcom, the concept has been FUNNY RELATABLE FAMILY. Few can relate to being a young child prodigy, or the only normal kid in a family of prodigies. There’s a reason THE GOODE FAMILY (unrelatable crazy ultra-liberal family) was a flop and KING OF THE HILL (funny relatable family) ran for over a decade, despite both having the same creator.
These two—kind of a strange relationship, no?
Ryan’s movies all bombed this summer so now he’s falling back on tv. If this TV thing boms, too, then what? RAdio? And if his radio show fails too? Skype?
They are beautiful together!
When they sell something outside of the place where they have their deal, then let me know.
Allan Loeb has the best management team in Hollywood, because this guy personifies the Peter Principle, wherein incompetence rockets to cerulean heights. I guess if JaMarcus Russell, a top NFL prospect for the Raiders, could make gazillions and be a BUST then nothing exempts mediocre writers in Hollywood from having the same outrageously good fortune, right?
If there’s one thing the Fox “Animation Domination” audience of 12-34 year old males love, it’s SANDRA BULLOCK! Also Diane Keaton, Bill Moyers, Candice Bergen, Stockard Channing, James Caan, Rob Reiner, Charlotte Rampling, and Scott Bakula. Animated series for all!
i dont see bullock doing a week in, week out tv comedy even if it is animated. what if shes on some remote location? whatever.
I’m happy for Sandy and Ryan, whatever project they get into, as long as they’re together! Seriously, I just want them to marry each other soon!!!
What?! I’m really surprised Sandra would agree to doing a weekly animated tv show. Sandra, you’re a big movie star! The small tv screen is so beneath you!
You don’t see Myrle Streep or even Julia Roberts doing this.
Maybe not, but Meryl Streep might. Even Myrle Haggard has considered it.
