Another name change post Comcast-NBCUniversal merger. At TCA’s press tour today, Mark Lazarus, Chairman of the NBC Sports Group, announced that sports channel Versus, previously owned by Comcast, was being re-branded as the NBC Sports Network beginning on Jan. 2, 2012. Comcast’s sports properties had already been folded into the NBC Sports Group immediately after the merger. Lazarus called the re-branding a reflection of “a strategic refocusing of the Versus brand to leverage the heritage of NBC Sports on cable.” Also getting a face-lift is the NBC Sports logo, which has been slightly updated.

Looks like something simiar to ESPN on ABC now and that’s never a good combination. Versus needed a re-branding, that’s for certain.

Great so when will E! be renamed NBC Entertainment Network and G4 rebranded NBC Guys Network or something like that??? But, I guess this will be good for leagues that are broadcast on versus and may get more attention now that they are part of a network people have heard off.

Outdoor programs, fishing, hunting will still be on, but the number of them will be reduced, according to another article I read about the change. Figures….
Universal Sports was on a digital OTA sub-channel in LA and other major cities’ NBC stations. That programming will cease in 2012. Channel 4.4 here in LA is now dark. I hope the TDF will be untouched by this change. If it were not for the Tour de France on Versus, I would not have known this channel existed.
Just want to know if nbc sport will still have the tour of france is not I dont need cable anymore. that’s one of the reason cause had versus and all the other bicycle races. (roubai,spain,etc….)
And channel 217 in florida has all the triathlon but that was free hd channel was happening with all the good oudor channel just football, baseball i am active cycle, it encourage me to go out after seen a good bike race
