Fox today released a detailed broadcast schedule for the first season of Simon Cowell’s The X Factor, which launches with a two-night premiere Sept. 21 and Sept. 22. Live performance shows will begin Nov. 2, coinciding with the start of the November sweep, with the two-part finale slated for Wednesday, Dec. 21 and Thursday, Dec. 22. (Unlike American Idol, X Factor will keep its Wednesday-Thursday airing pattern all the way through the finale). Meanwhile, the competition series’ winner, who is already set to get a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music, will also star in a Super Bowl spot for series sponsor, Pepsi. In other Fox TCA announcements, the network confirmed the 13-episode order to a new Cosmos docu-series from Family Guy Seth MacFarlane to air in 2013 and said that Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth will host the American Country Music Awards on Dec. 5.
