UPDATE MONDAY: I’ve got more information on the shrouded-in-secrecy ninth-season premiere of CBS’ comedy Two and a Half Men, which will feature the debut of new star Ashton Kutcher and which I now hear will be a two-parter. I have been able to confirm that Charlie Sheen’s character Charlie Harper is indeed dead and the season premiere will feature his funeral. Charlie’s girlfriends will come back for the occasion, and his house indeed will be put on the market. The episode will feature potential buyers coming to see the house (as I reported earlier, the list is expected to include real-life celebrities and stars from Men co-creator Chuck Lorre’s other series), with Ashton Kutcher among them. However, I hear he will not be the rightful owner of Charlie Harper’s digs by the end of the premiere episode, with the storyline expected to be extended into Episode 2. As part of CBS and Men producer Warner Bros. TV’s efforts to keep details of the premiere under wraps, I hear the cast has been asked to sign non-disclosure agreements, something potential audience members for the Friday taping will be required to do too.
PREVIOUS SUNDAY 6 PM: Speculation over the plot of the rebooted Two and a Half Men is expected to go into overdrive next week when production on the upcoming ninth season begins. Co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre has been mum on the setup for Two and a Half Men 2.0 and the way new star Ashton Kutcher will be introduced to the series. In keeping with the secrecy, I hear the cast members of the show were supposed to get their scripts for the season opener on Friday night, only two days before the Monday table read. As for what is in the script, the few in the know are keeping details close to the vest, but I hear that the Malibu beachfront house where Charlie Sheen’s character Charlie Harper lived with his brother (Jon Cryer) and nephew (Angus T. Jones) is put up for sale. Word is that a number of real-life Hollywood celebrities, including stars from other current and/or previous Lorre series, may tour the house, possibly joined by Kutcher. (It is unclear whether he will play a character or himself.) As for Charlie Harper, there has been speculation that Lorre won’t be able to resists killing off the character after being verbally savaged (and sued) by the actor who played him. The signs point in that direction — the Season 9 premiere is expected to feature all or most of Harper’s numerous ex-girlfriends. In terms of production next week, I hear that attendance at the table read will be kept to a bare minimum, but the Friday taping will be done in front of a live audience, not on a closed set. Still, I hear that some key scenes may be filmed separately with no audience and that producers will try to prevent leaks as much as they can, including banning press from the taping. But keeping details under wraps will be virtually impossible in the era of texting and Twitter.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

I think the show will come back very strong. Curiosity will be a big factor and also how the show adjusts to having Kutcher around.
Adding Kutcher may have extended the life of this series.
I will watch the first episode out of curiosity, and then no more. To me the show is dead.
I second that motion
3rd … they’re dead to me
When Sheen was fired the show died for me. I’ve been watching repeats I haven’t seen in a while and the show is funny with Sheen, not without him. I understand Lorre but from what I read, he’s not a nice person himself. Hypocrite is what he is.
The insipid show never existed in my world. Cotton Candy for the brain is a BAD thing, people.
Now, turn off the idiot box and go outside and play…
Metal70′s
(suffer fools lightly, then bake at 350 for one hour)
No Sheen? No show! Not worth watching. SHEEN WAS THE SHOW!
After they bury Charlie, they should rename the show: Two and Half Fools. “That’s all folks”
4th
dead…dead…deader than a doornail. Grow up Lorre!
Dead to me to! Charlie Sheen “WINNER” and Jon Cryer or lay in the arms of Chuck Lorre you pansy.
The writers of this show do not get enough credit. Charlie Sheen spoke the words by the writers, wore the clothes selected by the director and even made reactions directed by the director. Any decent character actor could walk in and fill Charlie’s shoes. I predict the show will continue as long as the writers are there.
4th To me not having him anymore so you decide you will just have him die!? Who is the genious that thought of that? makes me sick! I will probably just Stop paying attention to that show at all.
Without charlie the show is DEAD but I love Ashton since that 70s show so I am still hooked. I’ve watched the entire series 6-7 times now and hoping they can keep it going. Having said that, Chuck Lorre is either going to prove himself an egoistic fool for killing Charlie or a genius for replacing him with Kutcher .. eitherways, I’ve loved all of Chuck Lorre’s work and can’t wait for the first episode!
I 4th the motion we will watch the first episode and then me and all my family and who ever I can talk to will boy cot the show. The whole show from the beginning has really been based off his life drinking, hookers, and what ever and the producers knew that and made money off of that and now they want to cancel him. Then Ashton Kutcher is having a doubler-decker bus for over 8 grand for him to stay in while he is filming the program and he is not worth is. So all fans who like and love Two and a half men pass it on and dont watch.
Charlie Dead? The lead character? Bad decision to start the sitcom again. Ashton Kutcher is hot, but can’t imagine he will be as funny as Charlie Sheen. I’ll watch just for a thrill if Ashton Kutcher’s character is worth it.
The show wont be the same, the show is over and we all know it
Ashton Kutcher is no match for Charlie Sheen. Show will definitely go down in ratings
I loved the show starring Charlie Sheen and felt that I was actually at his funeral when I watched the show without him and wanted to cry.Lorre should bring him back. Rose, the crazy one has him locked away in Paris so that all his girlfriends would beleive he was dead. This way, she hopes to have him all to herself. He manages to get away and arrives home at his beach house. New owner gives the house back. He just wants his wife back. Everyone is surprised that he is still alive. Charlie forgives her however and the stalking starts all over.
Charlie Sheen made the show ” I will not watch it with Kutcher in it ”
To me all the cast was great: if Charlie was not who he was in real life the writers would really have nothing to write about, as far as the rest of the cast good luck to them wishing all the best. But Mr. Demi Moore might be a good person but come on he really don”t know how to act, That would be like sending me to Hollywood. and what about Rose now she is funny. Not to be boring But think about it
Watch or don’t watch, stop complaining about it! I love the show and Charlie should not have benn a jerk about it.
biring back charlie sheen
I two and a half that motion…
That is asinine. So, you’ll watch out of curiosity but you know you won’t be watching past the first episode? If you are so sure it is going to be bad, why bother? I am hoping Chuck Lorre pulls out all the stops to ensure success.
I agree with you!! What’s up with these idiots that say they will watch the first episode and then no more? TV is almost like sports – just because you replace the QB doesn’t mean you stop rooting for tyour team. I will watch and hope this show continues it’s success. Charlie is the idiot not the show.
I know Sheen had loyal fans, and they no longer want to watch the show with Aston taking his place, but Im one of the few that has never saw the show, and im going to start watching it, because Charlie Sheen is being replaced by Aston Kutcher. He is an excellent comedian. I have watched him before he was ever in a movie. I never missed an episode of “That 70s Show” He was a nobody when cast on that show..but when I saw him act, and just his chemistry, I knew he would be a star one day. Who better to represent YOUR FAVORITE SHOW. GIVE ASTON A CHANCE, HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN PROFESSINALLY, OR PERSONALLY.
“…stop rooting for your team???” Who in their right mind ever rooted for this piece of garbage which “featured” a Wimp, a Smart Mouth Kid and a womanizing Drunk? Kutcher as a replacement? Uh-uh! Send him back to “That 70s Show” where he played down to his “talent” where he was just a Charlie Sheen in training. Two minutes of Bertha was the only saving grace of 20 wasted minutes of air time.
NOTHING LIKE A COMEDY STARTING OFF WITH A FUNERAL. IF THEY SHOW THE SO CALLED BODY EVEN WITH JOKES AND OTHER FUNNY IT STILL ISN’T FUNNY….SHEEN,CRYER,AND ANGUS WORKED OFF EACH…THE WHOLE CAST BUILT UP A RAPPORT THAT WAS MAGNIFICENT…I WATCH THE RERUNS AND THE TIMING IS FABULOUS…CRYER IS A GREAT ACTOR BUT MUCH GREATER WITH SHEEN AND HIM BOUNCING REMARKS…I HAVE NEVER SEEN ASTON KUCHER IN ANYTHING BUT SHEEN HAS A MOVIE HISTORY THAT IS REALLY GOOD…ANYWAY DON’T KNOW IF I WILL WATCH ANYTHING..I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD DO WHAT THEY LIKE…I SUSPECT THE FIRST WILL GET AN AUDIENCE OF CURIOSTY SEEKERS…PARDON THE CAPS…HAVE HAND PROBLEMS PLUS AT 71 MY EYESIGHT IS NOT AS GOOD AS IT ONCE WAS…
I’d really like to hear more from Gloria, the die-hard Kutcher fan who posted above.
She’s the commenter who boasted that she’s been following his career far longer than most of his other fans. She also claimed that she was aware of him before he even became a star.
I think it’s fascinating to hear from such a loyal fan, who truly appreciates Kutcher’s genius, in a way that few others can – and yet somehow NEVER BOTHERED TO LEARN HIS FIRST NAME.
Aston? Really?
Hell, I’ve never paid much attention to the man, and yet I’ve known for at least ten years that his name is Ashton.
I agree with Art, I will watch the funeral. The death of Charlie is the last episode not the first. As far as asinine, that would be watching beyond Charlies character. I hope the show is good but it needs to be re-named and re-cast.
Call it That 70′s Show the Fallout.
Why is Charlie the idiot? he kept it professional during the filming of the show. What ever he does on his own time that’s his business.
Great analogy. I hope the new show makes me laugh as much as the first. All characters were part of a great and funny team. I hope Ashton can step in and continue the laughter for those who enjoyed it.
I agree with this. Granted; it is sad that Charlie Sheen is no longer with the show. But Ashton Kutcher will make the show again. I am a big fan of Two and a Half Men and an even bigger fan of Kutcher. This show is gonna be back in action in no time.
Charlie is the show p not the idiot.
I Totally agree… No Charlie Sheen.. No Two and a Half man…
Ditto
No Charlie Sheen.. No Two and a Half men…
It might as well have been called “The Charlie Sheen Show”. Killing him off and replacing him with that doofus is lame. The show has jumped the shark.
I’m the opposite. No Charlie Sheen, Yes 2 and a half men. Not sure what it will be like, but I’m interested. Never watched more than one show with Sheen. I don’t care for actors that don’t acknowledge that everything they have comes from us, fans, and in his case, daddy Sheen.
Right on!!!!
No Charlie Sheen…No Two and a Half Men….Sorry ! : )
Double ditto! Charlie was the show. R.I.P.!
Face it, Charlie choked the golden goose with his own two hands. Lorre merely responded as one should when an employee shows callous disrespect for the company he works for.
Well, I AGREE with lots of fans
Charlie Sheen made the movie. Not that the others aren’t funny but it was his character that HE made into a success. I too are watching the reruns because the show brought laughter when it was on, so as far as the other so called Men show, no I am not planning to watch it. I think that what is going on is wrong, what happened to forgiveness and giving someone a second chance. I feel they need to make a new show with the new actor with the others, this show was CHARLIE.
I agree. NO Sheen no show!!!!!
I think that everyone claiming to be fans of the show and saying it was all charlie are being very disrespectful to the rest of the cast and the writters. Charlie was very good but so were the other actors. He could not have been funny all alone with no cast. And the writers had a lot to do with the shows success. I think Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones are hilarious and Ashton will fit right in. It looks like its going to be very fresh and funny and I am excited!
I love the show like so many of you. But really, did any of you not notice how horrible Charlie looked. The show was going down hill as he declined in his personal life.He was too thin, voice raspy, and appeared he was being fed his lines at times.( no pun intended ) I watched a great actor ruin his life while taking a great show down with him.He made his choice to leave the show.Furthermore, he did not care about his fans or coworkers.I love Charlie Sheen but it is obvious he is either truly ill or he just was done with the show.
I agree it seems they should have started a new show of some kind. But,I think Chuck Lorre feels he has something to prove.
Last bot not least I will treasure my 8 seasons of the show and looking forward to A.K.to giving us a new way to laugh at life one show at a time.Give him a chance. If you have not seen any of his movies, you should. He is flexible actor.Plus he can be quite funny, and he is beautiful to look at.
This was the first comment that has in my opinion kept the facts straight. I love Charlie Sheen, but he gave up on himself, his fans and his co-workers. Whatever he did or didn’t do outside of the show is only his business to a degree;if I party and drink all night, this may make it hard to do my job. True fans of the show will watch and the rest will move on to the next Big thing on TV.
Chuck Lorre get a tougher skin….it’s television(hollywood) you work with the most self absord, selfish and pampered humans in the world. Sticks and Stones….people will talk.
Yeah. Ok. Why even watch the first episode then. If it’s dead to you, it’s dead to you. That statement is ridiculous. That’s it… You are banned from watching the first show and any after that. Banned I tell you. Banned!!!
Ain’t no good time Charlie, ain’t no Men. No way 1 and 3 Quarter Men and that Kutcher dude gonna make this series go beyond first four episodes, most viewers find Kutcher unfunny cause he’s a one trick pony, saying woooooooo every 5 seconds is not funny after 3 millionth time.
HOW MUCH OF A MORON YOU ARE!!!
I can’t wait until Charlie is back as soon as possible. From who else am I going to get to have such rampant sex???????
Sheen is a lowlife and a hack, as is his father.
And don’t forget brother Emilio… who at least had the courage to stay true to his family’s actual heritage,
Say what you want about Charlie Sheen; I am not a fan of the show, but he was very good early in his career in movies like Wall Street.
Martin Sheen, however, is not a hack; that is ridiculous. He is one of the most respected actors in the business; he got his start on Broadway and never looked back. Just take a look at his profile on IMDB; he has acted in some of the best films and TV programs of the last 40 years. His performances in Apocalypse Now and The West Wing alone exemplify what I mean.
I completely agree with you Dylan 111. Marc M do you know anything about Martin Sheens career? Obviously, nothing. I love when people get on here and talk smack about things they know nothing about nor have they researched. Great example of why our country is in the shape it’s in.
what ever
Absolutely!
Charlie is the best, there will be no show without him.I have all the charlie shows taped,And his new show will be a big hit, cant wait for that,If you would think back a couple years, where was Robert Downey Jr.In court,In jail,In prison,On drugs every day,And OMG now hes,IRON MAN!!!
Charlie will be back and better than ever,You will all eat your words.
I agree, no Sheen, no show. I won’t watch it.
I agree……………..no Sheen………I won’t wait ever again just the reruns.
Ditto!
Let’s be honest. Sheen didn’t get fired until he pointed out that Lorre is a Jew by using his birth name Chaim Libivowitz or whatever it is. Everything else up to that point, the drug abuse, the domestic incidents, was a-okay, but point out that Lorre’s a Jew, then you’ve crossed the line!
I agree with you 110%! I will NOT watch the show because Lorre is being a jerk! jerk! jerk! And dumb dumb dumb for succumbing to such grade school antics!
CHARLIE SHOULD TEAM UP WITH MEL GIBSON,THANK YOU FOR YOUR POST.IM HAPPY TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE ISNT BLIND ABOUT HIS FIRING.GREAT POST. NO SHEEN NO SHOW.
everyone is jew in this town…everyone
That is my plan too. the only reason I watched the show because Charlies’ charactor was doing the same thing that charlie Sheen was doing and that made it intersting ..
I bet you this show will not last two to three months . network will cancell it .
Winning…………………..
I agree completely. Those three made that show. Kill the show if you are going to kill him off. My opinion is: Pull up your big girl panties, everyone knows he’s an alcoholic and he plays one on TV. That is really getting into his scenes. Leave the man alone.
What about the millions that Sheen made for these producers. They forgot about that. Hope the show flops just to show those guys
You are VERY SMART!!!!!!!! Now that I heard they are killing him off, I won’t give them the satisfaction of watching them but I will watch the reruns. Chuck Lorre is a FOOL!
Babs i agree with you. Chuck Lorre is an FOOL. the show won’t last long without Charlie.
I won’t miss it. I haven’t seen it, I won’t watch it now, and I will not miss it.
Then why post?
BECAUSE SHE CAN!
BECAUSE they have no life!
They screwed up no Charlie no two in a half men they will see they will suffer with out Charlie. Cheers Charlie
I would agree. I will watch the opener but the show is dead to me as well. The show is C. Sheen. The show made so much money off of sheen and killing him off is a fool move. Soon the ratings will fall and they will bring in other actors to boost ratings and it wont work. “jumping the shark” as they say in tv land.
Or not. We are not all smitten with him. Too stupid and childish. Poor Demi
I think the funeral will be for Two and one-half men period. Its dead, wont watch it anymore . although i ll miss Jake he s a fine actor ..
I agree. it was a good run but it’s over.
i think the show is dead.dead,i will not watch no more of it
AMEN. I too will watch out of curiosity. I like Kutcher, but strongly believe Sheen should have been able to keep his job.
Charlie lost his job on his own accord. He went crazy! I hope the show succeeds without him just to shove his ungrateful face in it!
The show was getting stale..it is time for a change. I think Ashton will be great…a real pick me up!!! Charlie was getting real sloppy in his acting and real life…kind of disgusting! I am looking forward to the new show…and will definatly be giving it a chance.
Isn’t it ironic that Charlie Sheen was living the life he portrayed as Charlie Harper, yet was fired because of it. To me as long as he was still showing up for work and could pull off his part let him roll & ole Chuck should have just made the money and not wear his heart on his sleeve. It’s called a functioning addict, and America is full of the Charlie Sheens;-)& wantabe Sheens and many watched the show because the humor had reality attached to it. Every foolish woman alive should have learned from it. The reality was just that REAL. I will buy the DVD collection and laugh forever. It was as good as the series called SOAP laugh till you cry yeah!
I agree…..without Charlie Sheen the show is not going to be interesting enough to me. I feel sorry for the rest of the cast but they only help the show with Charlie in it.
so true
Charlie Sheen made two in a half men. When they fired him they put their selves out of work..They can join the unemployement lines. This show will be as dead as Charlie…..RIP
What a great actor. The show will never be the same without Charlie Sheen. I watched all of his shows including re-runs. Can’t imagine Charlie not being on it. The show is nothing without him. YOU FOOLS
I too may watch the first episode, but the show died when Sheen left. How do you lose the main character and keep the show qualities that made it a hit ? Good luck with that.
Should have let the show die…without trying to replace CHARLIE.
The show was Charlie Sheen, in a nutshell!
I love all the characters but ASHTON KUTCHER? What is Chuck Lorre thinking with that one?
They should bury their differences and bring Charlie Sheen back – the show was #1; that is due to the actors that made the show.
charley should be in that show.with out him the show is dead.m i a
i certainly agree…
I agree…I’m going t watch the first one because it involves Charlie…them I’m done as well…
Two and a Half Men will be watched no more. John Cryer drives me crazy. The only GREAT one to watch was Sheen, and Berta. Just kill the show and cut your losses…..
i hear ya, without Charlie the show won’t be worth a crap. i can’t believe they are killing him off.
i think people will watch one or two episodes out of curiousity but no matter who they put in it NOOONE will be able to replace Charlie Sheen and i will be very surprised if it lasts this season out. No Charlie no show as he was the show.
I am not concerned with who is staring in the show. I watched with charlie sheen and the show is hilarious, but I think it can be just as hilarious with someone else. I plan to watch and if its good and funny I will keep watching and if not I won’t. Its that simple people.
what if you watch one show out of ‘curiosity’ and find out that it’s great? i myself, love charlie in the show, but the last few episodes changed his character from a playboy to a wuss…i wish they didn’t go the route of charlie and rose…i think the show def needs a refreshing start. no, it WON’T be the same show without charlie, but that doesn’t make it bad before anyone’s even watched it. for heavens’ sake, give it a chance. if you decide before it even starts that you hate it, you’re being a little immature and rediculous!
I agree, without Charlie Sheen it is not 2 and a Half Men. Charlie made the show a success and I will only watch the first episode withAshton, just out of curiosity. To me all Ashton is is Demi’s boytoy and he was not good in that 70′s Show. 2 and a Half Man without Charkie is like Buffy the Vampire Slayer without Buffy.
Watching 1 show then no more ????? Really??? So quality and talent have nothing to do with your TV viewing habits … better go back and get another shot of tiger’s blood…………
i totally agree sheen made the show what it was
I agree, without Charlie Sheen at the helm-this show is dead.
If your curious about the first episode, I think you still have interest in the show….you never know Ashton may be just what the show needed to keep it going, he is a funny guy.
typical u.s.a use till u cant handle then throw away 2 someone u can get for cheaper sorry ashton but i know charlie was banking alot more coin than they offered u;( but so charlie was having some personal problems i have not yet seen a episode of 2 and a half men i did not like so congrats charlie u to me have done your job!!!!
I did not laugh even once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
absolutely no comedy!!! the so called humor at the funeral was distasteful and rude. demis boy toy is just that, no class, and playing stupid is just as i see his future. my monday nights will be more fun cleaning out the cat litter box. i feel sorry for the cast. cbs really screwed up. all the best to the cast and berta, GET YOUR OWN SITCOM!!! devoted to your acting ability. jake you have a future just not with kutcher in the picture. charlie is not gone, he’s just on hold. CBS, SMARTEN UP!!!!
Watched the season opener just to see how they got rid of Charlie! The opener was terrible. Nobody, family or friends not even caring about his death. That was the most unbelievable and terrible Two and a Half Men ever showed! The show isnt worth watching without Charlie! You can sure tell by the season opener the writers feelings towards Charlie!
I am started to hate this show, already sick of the divorce thing, every episode is worst than the one before,
should have kept you know whom!
Shaun I think you don’t know crap about show business the reason of the success of the show it was primarily of Charlie Sheen. It reflect almost his life that made it real Kutcher it’s not even funny.
Many people said that he is obnoxious.
And you don’t know crap about what a personal opinion is – it will either succeed or not, but NOT based on your snotty review.
Pot calling the kettle black, how queer.
Pot calling kettle queer. I don’t know. Had to do it. Sorry.
You’re queer? I kinda suspected.
Glad that Americans all giggle when they hear the term queer.
Depressed that the gays have taken another word from the English vernacular in an attempt for equality.
Know one can replace him,It’ll never work.It was an original, and it will die at the funeral, R.I.P.
That’s what every one tells me…Kutcher is a BOZO…the only one I thought may have been able to step into the roll was Vince Vaughn
Hello people will watch the first episodes of course but mostly for one reason : to know what will happen to the Charlie Sheen’s character ! That is all, so after that ratings will dropp, drop, drop…just watch…Ah and with or without all your high profile guest-stars Chuck Lorre your smash hit sitcom is dead.
no charlie sheean no two & half men the show was always fantastic & I don’t think anyone can take charlies place for laughs can’t be done
Absolutely!!!
Charlie Harper was Charlie Sheen
I disagree. I will watch nothing with that loser Sheen ever again. Why many people in America worship low life scum is beyond me. I hope the show thrives despite Sheen.
That’s because America breeds quite a bit of low-life scum.
Totally agree. The morbid fascination with this one-man train wreck disaster is depressing. Sheen is as shallow as pocket change-and who can’t be even a little bit funny with sex and body function humor? Lowest common denominator garbage.
You contribute to the ‘morbid fascination” by posting about him stupid ass.
No way. With Sheen, it was entertainment, vulgarity entirely secondary, no one took it to heart. Kutcher may be a ‘nice’
person but he’s no actor and never will be, zero substance.
What was worst about the ‘premier’ was its spitefulness toward
Sheen, who for sure has flipped old Lorre for the high road since the big falling-out. Its vulgarity was jarring only because it served no purpose whatsoever – not funny, not clever, just more piling on by Lorre because his nose is clearly still out of joint. And the ‘recurring premise’ is what – the effeminate Ashton running naked around the house for the next 9-12 months
going ‘duh, oh, gosh, guys, whatever’? The show is GONE. The real show. The one that had the audience of folks of a certain
age who remember when the Charlies could be easily found off the screen.
I have to agree…I will never watch anything with that overblown hack ever again, nor any of his PAST stuff. I always thought that Jon Cryer was the real star of the show.
I’m with you! Charlie Sheen was merely playing himself, and I stopped watching when his off-stage antics made it not funny anymore. As for Chuck Lorre, he has other hit shows now that can overshadow 2.5 Men, and, if this show fails, he will have time to create even more! Who knows? The new format (whatever it is) could be an improvement. Sheen was but one actor in an ensemble cast. Maybe the others can now shine, instead of getting hit by his shrapnel. I think booting Sheen was a smart move. He brought it on himself.
I totally agree!! Charlie is NOT and NEVER will be a winner!
and you ? who you think you are seriously ? all these judgemental posts are disgusting..wake up guy : you don’t know Charlie Sheen, you can insult him as you want but you don’t know him..Maybe it is where comes from your pathetic bitter hateful nonsense.. Poor sad little Jeff.
Let me guess, you used to work for the Psychic Hotline?
It will be a different show with new laughs. A fresh Salteen is better than a stale Ritz cracker.
“”A fresh Salteen is better than a stale Ritz cracker”" Except when it’s covered in crap.
Hey just me,
Where do you eat??????????
SALTINE
While they can certainly mine great dark comedy from a Charlie’s Death two-parter, I wonder what this will ultimately do to the show’s popularity in syndication. With Charlie dead, we’re watching the story of a cool uncle who takes in his nephew, helps raise him for nearly a decade, but dies before the kid graduates high school. Oh fun, fun, fun.
Of course, having a comic character die young can work, as in Blithe Spirit. I’m just not sure a guy who writes jokes about pubic hair is the reincarnation of Noel Coward.
If there were a like button, it surely would be pressed. Great post.
that’s a really good point about syndication…lorre is really giving the middle finger to all the seasons’ past by killing off sheen’s character…
I don’t care about this show, but you make a great point.
It’s a terrible point about syndication. Are you aware of the original CSI? They’ve had two people head the lab, and next season it’s going to be Sam from Cheers.
I quit watching CSI when the first one left. It ruined the whole show for me…
What? Poor CSI they had a long running cast and then in kinda went to hell when Grissom left, I hope Sara leaves for good at least!
A really good point. The most intelligent in the series of posts on this article (all of which make for a great read).
This is a recurrent pattern on television and in movie sequels–go for an interesting twist (or reworked “solution” to a casting problem) that eradicates entire seasons of story lines (or the motivation for the viewing public to care about seasons of story lines) and it is ultimately bad for syndication revenues. Much of why we see the Dukes of Hazzard or other 80′s era series syndicated but comparatively less of “Dallas” (which was a worldwide phenomenon akin to the more recent “Baywatch”) can be traced to the decision to wipe out an entire season by reducing “who shot JR Ewing?” to a dream.
Crush the continuity of a series beyond the limits of artistic license and the series dies.
No, we don’t see Dallas because no one wants to see reruns of it, or any other soap opera.
Lorre and Hollywood created Charlie Sheen just look at his characters over the years and I like them so no more shows from me. Who is Kutcher any way?
He’s Demi’s boy toy…
bring back the winning!
bring charlie back
Lets hope not—Lorre and others trying to tell Charlie how to live his life is akin the big government telling us how to live ours. Those who choose to tell others how to live their lives should be punished, and in this case the only punishment one can serve is to not watch.
If you watch this series with the new cast what you are really saying is you have no principles and are directly responsible for the marxist/socialist state we live in because you are the type who only cares about yourself and won’t stand up against tyranny, whether it is hollywood or big government. Shame on you.
Oh man. You’re watching this previous stuff and harping about the negative effects of future shows on society? Dude, you’re just the person who would argue about second-hand cigarette smoke during a three alarm fire.
Also, just to get this straight… you’re saying Lorre and others, who created and own the show, have no right to ask those associated with the show to be sober and keep within a lifestyle that might make him live longer and more successful, hence keeping their cash cow alive? What employer shouldn’t have that right? Your silly words sound like they come from Charlie’s union rep!
Ok, let me get this right.
Lorre, fearful that his star may drink himself to death (and therefore kill the show), fires said star, and then fictionally kills him off. I might add (therefore killing the show).
Your logic is flawed.
Yeah, no… “flashman1854,” “DontWatchTyrants”: it’s YOUR logic that is flawed. Comparing an employer firing a nutcase to big government tyranny is absurd. Oh, and by the way, the show was and will be a negative influence on the culture with or without Sheen, but at least without him it’s a bit less blatant in the “what the stars are like” department.
“what the stars are like” department is a good thing imo it shows some honesty among all this fake hypocritical lying politically correctness hollywood mob mentality. Refreshing and smart actually but Sheen is gone so yeah Epitome of hypocrisy and corporate mentality is here to stay..depressing.
Well, Lorre should have had that put in the contract, shouldn’t he?
I just want to say the problem is that Charlie already had a drug and alcohol problem and they (producers) knew that …they should have checked him at the door…So they cast someone that has this problem playing a character that has this problem..it was life imitating art..what did they expect????? I do hope that the new show does well I will watch and give it a chance before making a unfair decision without even looking at it …..
Charlie’s union rep! lol
Charlie……Is that you?
You’re kidding right? You’re likening a FICTIONAL television show, which is there for ENTERTAINMENT purposes to TYRANNICAL government, which runs people’s lives. Dude, you are delusional, and need some help. Grow up and get over yourself. A television show isn’t worth it! rolls eyes
Excuse me, but have you forgotten that sitcom, is supposrd to be
comedy? Comedy is supposed to be light and make you laugh and
not get you riled in your brain about all these issues you are talking about.I like 21/2 men because although there is always
underlying truth in humor it’s silliness makes me laugh and forget about all these serious issues and problems and for the half hour or
hour with the reruns lately, I just put my feet up and escape and
don’t worry about anything serious or analyze the hello out of the
script or who wrote it or blah, blah, blah…
Gonna miss Berta and Rose…They need a show together…
Funny you say you won’t watch it after the first episode, which is a two part episode, and the idea is that is all you need to watch to be hooked.. You’ll be obsessed hahahahah.
Kutcher – you got to be kidding. He sucked in everything he has been in.
I never liked the show, too low class and vulgar for my tastes. And as a South Park fan I have no objection to vulgarity. So I won’t watch the season premier. Kutcher is a smirking loser who will sink the show and the only entertainment to be had out of the whole situation will be watching Sheen mock Kutcher and his nemesis that weasel Chuck Lorre.
your a fan of south park but THIS show was too vulgar for you. What a crock.
sorry about the comment. I meant to say too LOW CLASS and vulgar for you. But South Park is high brow enough for you. are you for real..
This show was a never watch for me. Oh, I did watch some portions occasionally as I was changing channels. A disgusting piece of trash show and probably will continue to be so.
Can you say “Jumped the Shark”?
…a CGI ghost of Charlie lurks about or possesses house characters at will — 3.25 Men?
Jump that shark Chuck!!! Sad, very sad…. What a spiteful dolt! Not winning Chuck.
hahaha~~~ wait till~~~ they see my new show on the same time slot..they will wish they offered me 10 million a show!!!!!
Bad idea. The show was Charlie! Not worth watching anymore.
laugh trax, commercials, unfunny & the competition for king of the hill, american dad and family guy. Get a life.
I think Sheen has fried his brain, so it is good to move on without him….
LOL this show will crash in flames. Without charlie this show should be canceled , I wont even download it and will steer everyone away.
Screw for two and a half men – You are done son!
STOP DRINKING! You are full of bologna!
Guess I’m the minority here. I realize Charlie Sheen’s character was written to be obnoxiously self-absorbed, self-endulgent and ammoral. I know those are hip characteristics these days. But I just found him boring. Jon Cryer and Angus Jones were far funnier and the reason I watched the show.
DOA
They are 100% more likely to make more in residuals from re-runs than from part II. Lorre should be sued by stock holders of the network for mismanagement. His ego even overshadows Sheens!
Hope the show tanks. Now you know why Sheen acted the way he did. Chuck is garbage.
Replacing Sheen meant that they had to find someone as obnoxiousness and worthless as he was. They have found him. The only thing I will miss is the relationship of Charlie and Rose… The cast is solid.. the writing is solid.. no reason it cannot continue for some time.
Look I don’t care what things they do to spin this or change that
Charlie Sheen worked, Ashton Kucher will NOT ….Think about it..what role have you ever seen Kucher in that you thought “wow Kucher did a great job”?
Kucher will stink on ice and it won’t matter how much money they spend or what things they do to get you to watch..after the first one or two episodes…everyone will catch on that this just sucks and tune out.
Agreed, this show is dead. One of my favorites, not that I agreed with Sheen’s lifestyle.
The show will NOT make a comeback with Ashton Kutcher unless he shaves off that poor example of a beard.
Ashton Kutcher sucks…The show dies when charlie leaves.
The new premiere of two and a half men was terrible. It isn’t funny. Ashton Kutcher doesn’t fit into this show! The other characters of the show, even Alan seem stiff and forced. All of the other characters played off of charlie’s character so well. Rest in peace Two And A half Men. You WILL BE MISSED CHARLIE !
WILL NOT WATCH DO NOT CARE IF HE SHAVES OR NOT.
The show is going to suck without Charlie Sheen’s character, so to who ever wanted Charlie Sheen, gone can kiss my you know what and I much like many others will not be watching two and half men. SO to who ever wanted Charlie, gone they kiss a lot of viewers goodbye, and they need a new writer, director, producer, well hell why don’t they get a hole new cast. Two and half men is dead to me without Charlie Sheen.
I think that the creators should not run two and a half men anymore due to the fact the charlie isnt gonna star in it the reason why everyone watched was cause of charlie i think them bring it back is very stupid and i hope that it dont get alot of viewers who wants to watch two and a half men without charlie in it
I’ve loved the show for years, but in the last few, the jokes have gotten thinner, Charlies antics (both series and real life) have gotten stale and self-parodying, and I started to lose interest.
Will Kutcher save the show? I still see Kutcher as **his** alter-ego Kelso, and I”m not sure that’s going to change. The Character of Kelso was wonderful for the first five years of “70′s Show,” but that character got as grating as Charlie Sheen/Harpers.
Maybe I’ll watch… Maybe I have other better things to do.
No way in hell will Kutcher pull this off. He’s an idiot when it comes to acting. Besides, once the main and powerful lead in any show leaves, the show usuallys goes down hill. Chuck Lorre is an idiot and he will soon find that out. The show should have been cancelled it would be less insulting to the other cast memebers who deserve a BRAVO along with Charlie for keeping that show going for as long as it has. All will be missed because this fan is no longer a fan of the show.
Knock`em dead Charlie and let Chuck eat . . . . !
Charlie Sheen made this show. I’m not going to be impressed with Ashton K. If Charlie’s dead, the show dies with him, just a little slower.
LAME!!! charlie sheen is the man for this show!
I will not watch is with Ashton Kutcher on this show, sorry dude, but Charlie was the only man for this job, you can hold your own doing something else.
“I WILL NOT WATCH TWO AND A HALF MEN ANYMORE”
SPREAD THE WORD EVERYONE, KILL THE SHOW OR BRING CHARLIE BACK.
Charley had everything anyone could want & threw it away because of drugs & drinking.
Sure his acting was funny on the show but Ashton will do great!
You go Ashton I’ll watch & so will all our friends.
I’m from Brasil…
Why not make the funeral of every show?
No Sheen will not be funny!
Yes, adding Ashton extended the life of the show by one episode. The show is dead.
I know adding Kutcher will be more exiting, thats a lot of people love to see it. A. Kutcher is a very funny men, that nobody saw his 70′Show. People that dont know kutcher as a good actor is ignorant. Sheen never have look for his own family, only woman, drugs, alcohol. People likes him is same as him.
I can’t wait! And what have u read about Lorre? Jut haters comments? Can’t WAIT!
Probably killed the show.
I do not have anything against Jon Cryer but he shouldnt be as dumb as lorre as to think this show will remain alive without Charlie Sheen, they should have quit the show. And Ashton Kutcher!! He will ruin his carreer by doing this, he will regret it later!
The show and its 8 seasons was so successful due to all the characters. Charlie lived and made his part and without him the show will fail. No matter what spin the writers try to do it will not be the same or have the same outcome. They will have to win the fans over and not bash what was so successful. With killing charlie off they are adding to the failure that is to come to the show. The show will have great ratings the first one or two shows then die along with Charlie Harper. Make what you can cast it’s over after 9th season…..
no show with out charlie what ru thinkin no matter what get him back or u loose just a matter of time cant kill him off let him b gone on a binge like he is 4 real an address that issue. common sence DUHD!!!!!!
they don’t have enough money to pay me to watch Two and Hlaf men since Charlie Sheen will no longer be on the show. and Ashton kutcher really. he can never take Charlie’s place.
devoted Charlie Sheen/Charlie
Harper fan.
Archer needs to lose the beard … does nothing for him. I will watch a couple of episodes but I have grave doubts. I would rather have seen the producer fired that Charlie.
Give ithe show another chance
I will watch the first show, see what it is about, after that, will make my mind up to watch the rest, can not be as good without Charlie – wonder if thier mom will buy the house?? Then put it on the market to make a profit?
I think they should have a funeral without the body so to speak, like as if he disappeared at sea. That’s so there could be the possibility for Charlie to come back. The producer isn’t just punishing Charlie, but all the viewers that are fans of the show.
That was my favorite sitcom. I caught some interviews with Charlie the other day and he does seem sorry for his actions. They
should give him another chance. His character was vital to the series.
i LOVE ashton kutcher so i will DEF watch…i am very sad about charlie leaving…but i do think that the show will be saved bc of ashton…even introduce a new audience, he is an amazing actor…and totally hott, lol
Glad to see Sheen go. The writers deserve the real credit and the show needed a fresh start. Sheen could not have done it without the writers and director but they can do without him.
The Krutchen sucks. Bring back Charlie.
I think Two and Half Men was terrible. I love Kryer but he can’t carry Ashton who is still stuck in the 70′s. Why wasn’t Rose back on? This show gets two more views from me–if it doesn’t improve, I’m gone.
The show is not the same without Sheen. There is no chemistry
in the actors anymore. Kutcher just isn’t a good fit for the
show and actually Alan seems to be the main character in the
show now.
I don’t watch it anymore as do around 10-15 of my friends.
It is what it is…………
Amen, to that! The show is SO much better now, I love it!
it sucks without charlie the plot never changes.the oringal group makes the show without charlie it wont last long. lynn
The show has become so boring and childish that my wife and I would rather read a book.
Kutcher adds absolutely nothing to the new series or the writers can’t figure out a way to tie his acting ability into the show. The show is going to die a slow death–so be it
I agree with Shaun. I think curiosity will be a key factor and putting Kutcher in may actually have extended the life of the series… I think he may bring in younger public that the show didn’t have with Sheen, and a different angle that may be refreshing for the series. Depending on how it’s written and how the “chemistry” with other cast members works, of course.
Exactly! When I read this article I thought– I can see this being funny. If he dies and if Kutcher is a real estate agent with mom– and is showing it to lots of stars and then has the memorial service at the home could be funny. Ashton could be a guy the mom leans on like a cougar and befor eyou know it – gets him to buy the house. Or something like that. If you think about it– they can bring Jake up as an adult character more. Now that he 18 and hae more stuff with him and his gf ‘s or friends. Kutcher and he may have brand new stories and chemistry. I am one of the people that was getting tired of Charlie. I mean I loved seasons 1-4 or so. But now it was literally same stories. And it was hard to separate his headlines with the character.
Lorre won’t do it, but I wish he’d pull a ‘Bewitched’ and just have Ashton walk on as Charlie and pick up where they left off.
That would be “winning”.
That would be an interesting idea, but the reason that worked with “Bewitched” is because Dick York and Dick Sergeant looked so similar.
Actually, they didn’t. Unless you think all dark haired white men look the same.
Just the white ones.
They were both Caucasians (not ‘white’- actually a mix of the crayon colors Apricot & peach from my kiddie days of coloring book ‘artwork’), who both have dark hair AND both are thin. Bewitched’s Darrin#2 was a good replacement for D#1.I don’t see a lot of similarity facially, but a little, maybe.I will be watching 2&1/2Men 2.0 & refuse to watch ANYTHING new with Charlie Sheen. Maybe Loore will stoop making a destructive, negative, womanizing, drug, narcissistic character something to laugh at – since he saw how such a person in real life can explode, implode, tear down, and work against a series- and himself.
because Lorre is such a “nice guy”…
so what your saying, is the establishment demonized charlie sheen enough for you to hate him…
man you are brainwashed
They were White, stop with your inaccurate politically correct b/s..
@Anonymous The people that are brainwashed here are those who DON’T see him as a scumbag despite all the blatant and obvious and largely not even contested evidence.
Canof Sand you are so gullible, i bet you really believed Guantanamo was Disney Land, and Donald Rumsfeld is Santa himself since corporate big brother told you so..Maybe one day you will buy you a brain in order to think by yourself
For most viewer’s Charlie Sheen’s character made the show, so regardless they are going to loose a lot of viewers. Charlie Sheen, now has a stronger fan base then ever, I know that it is just for tv, just entertainment and the person/persons who wanted Charlie off the show do the following kick rocks, jump off a bridge and bounce, or just choke on their own spit.
Actually, there was a similarity in their looks. Acting they were much different. I always thought they did a great job with that re-cast.
The first Darren had big ears, big eyes, no chin and was kind of goofy looking. The second Darren was more conventionally good looking. Not sure how that’s similar.
I too thought the two darrens looked very much alike.
You mean there were TWO different Darrens on Bewitched??!!!
The key was that the Dick’s didn’t look a like, but were the same size…
HAHA!! Love it!
You’re an idiot! But I mean that in a good way, that was funny!
They did it with The Fresh Prince, with Will or Carlton looking directly into the camera with a ‘what are you gonna do?’ face when the new mom walked on for the first time. Funny.
You forget that Dick York was openly gay, and never had the same charisma as the first Darren. That being said, Nikki has gotten the scoop again, and without her expertise we would never be having this conversation.
Dick York wasn’t gay. Dick Sargeant was. You are right about the 2nd Darren Bewitched not having the same charisma as the first one. They were different and actually played the role slightly different so it was closer to their own personalities.
It seems unlikely that the show will be able to ‘start over’ or go another bunch of seasons.. for every Cheers re-boot (ie the Kirstie Alley years) and MASH cast change, there are ten times as many stories where a main character left and the series just imploded once the curiosity factor of the replacement faded (Designing Women is the show that leaps immediately to mind).
But then I kind of dig Lorre’s sense of humor (and his vanity cards) and think that if anyone can get mileage out of the situation and let it fuel some good material and relaunch the concept, it’s him.
Although I don’t watch The Office I guess they’re going through this same problem this year too (for thankfully different reasons).
Replacing Ashton as Charlie would be absolutely ridiculous and anyone who would suggest that doesn’t watch the show.
Ashton has to be related to the Harpers somehow. If the rumors are true about this new plot of the house being up for sale, the show will tank. I like Ashton but such a bad choice to replace Charlie.
I have watched the show and own the seasons. Like I said above– this about it this way– if Jake is 18 and not a chubby little kid anymore…they can bring his stories up. And his character and Ashton could completely have different dynamic. This happened at same time that Jake grew up! So now its not limited by 2 adults and a kid. So if you go with the 3 of them and then have mom thrown in with her “grief” and fake horror at how charlie handled his will/money. All the women to come through through for memorial and selling house. I hope Kutcher plays a real estate agent who gets all the sales because he sleeps with the cougars. that plays into the tone of the show– keeps in in the fold by knowing the mom- and then ultimately— gets him in the house and has a tone like harlies but hes not just drinking and staying home. Just an idea. I think it could be hilarious if they handle it right. It stayed up in ratings out of loyalty and habit– but it was not as good the last year.
you know Teri I think that you are on the right track there and having a funeral for Charlie really is the way to send him off although I have enjoyed Charlie all these years he has killed off his own character and its time to let him go and move on himself and the show too.The idea you have is quite intrguing and can’t wait to see what happens on the season opener myself.
All that means is one possibly good episode, nothing more and nothing less. Two and half men is going to suck without Charlie Sheen, they might as well face it. They are done.
I still think killing off Charlie would be a detriment to the show and its fanbase. There are those invested in the show who will find it a slap in the face, despite the behind-the-scenes drama. Would seem a bit silly to alienate your fanbase in that regard.
Though, I guess the argument could be made that they’re already making the cast change so what does it matter. Kind of a fine line, especially when you’re dealing with a sitcom.
Tucker is 100% correct. I’m a hardcore fan and if Lorre kills Charlie, I probably won’t even give the reboot a chance. People need to learn how to seperate their feelings about the entertainers personal lives from their performances. And Lorre needs to leave his vanity on those silly cards at the end of his shows…
I think your second sentence completely contradicts the first there, Max.
I don’t know, it feels like Spin City all over again. When Michael J Fox had to quit because of his Parkinson condition and was, quite ironically, replaced by Charlie himself, the show felt different, not as funny and, most importantly, like it was missing its true lead.
I’m afraid the same will happen here, as 2 1/2 Men was always a show revolving heavily on Charlie’s talent and comic relief.
I thought it improved when Fox left. Sheen brought in a new dynamic that was funnier. Of course they brought in the savior of all series to help out…Heather Locklear. perhaps she should be brought back to help this series to get back on its feet.
I am a die-hard fan of Two And A Half Men. Loved Charlie Sheen in this role. I would look at the first episode out of curiousity, as well as to say goodbye to the show. Was many years of enjoyment. Thanks for the good times Charlie.
i agree no charlie no two and half men The show will die off.
I won’t bother watching, No Charlie no chance I’ll be watching. I don’t care what the man did in his everyday life, But on that show he was king.
I agree with Mary. Charlie Sheen is the show, without him it just won’t be the same. Life happens, use some of Charlie’s failings as a way to start another story line. Ie. Jake is a young man now, Charlie tries to head Jake off from making some of the same mistakes that he made. This could be hillarious, if done right.
Instead of killing Charlie off they should have put him in the witness relocation program.
Like the song goes, “Good time Charlie got the blues”
Two and half men needs to replace who ever wanted Charlie Sheen off the show.
If the Kutcher reboot works, it works.
If it doesn’t, Lorre will have delivered the seasons as agreed to WBTV and CBS. I assume the reason Lorre et al didn’t walk away from this behemoth of a mess, aside from the fact that the show is still profitable, is that there was an obligation to produce until the end of 2011/12 season. The episodes will still play in perpetuity in syndication, whether they feature Mr. Tiger Blood or Mr. Demi Moore.
So it’s a win/win either way, frankly, for Lorre et al. Or at least, nothing to lose.
There’s a great piece on Deadline sister site TVLine that gives some great arguments as to why (and how) Ashton could potentially be playing the role of Charlie Harper, rather than a new character.
Following document found in the Men’s restroom at Musso & Frank’s.

RE: KUTCHER INTRO
As you know, Les, Lorre, et.al. have been spitballing vis a vis how to introduce Ashton into the ensemble replacing Sheen.
One of the guys who has been around awhile reminded us of the “Dallas” scenario pertaining to the return from the dead of Bobby Ewing. You remember, the “shower gambit”.
To refresh your memory, Pam Ewing awakes to the noise of the shower running in the bathroom. Upon investigation, lo and behold, she finds the “dead” Bobby very much alive and in said shower. Ploy was that Bobby never died— but that the entire prior season was all ” a dream” !!!! That Pam had literally “dreamed” the entire season and had dreamed the death of Bobby— who do to sagging ratings and a failed attempt at movies was brought back to the show.
Les, run this up your flagpole:
“Charlie Harper” was ALWAYS Ashton Kutcher!!! That the brother, Jon Cryor, awakes from a nightmare— bad Shushi— in which Sheen was dreamed to be Charlie. Brother awakes— we can even make it Christmas morning ala Scrooge in Dicken’s “Christmas Carol” which will give the opening episode a “holiday” feel as brother comes to appreciate his place in life after bad dream. SO BAD that his brother resembled that drunken, druggy loudmouth Charlie Sheen!!!!!
Les, Legal tells us that since we at the Tiffany Network hold the rights to all intellectual property from “Dallas”, recycling the “dream” thing is no biggie.
That would be funny. Cryer would go so overboard that Ashton WASN’T Charlie that he drives him to BE Charlie.
Wow, that would actually make 2.5 men be… well, not good but interesting. A first.
In other words, pull a Bob Newhart
NO, pull a “Dallas”— as I wrote, and where it was ORIGINALLY done.
If I wanted to use Bob Newhart I would have done so.
Bad Shushi?
I happen to have some personal history with bad sushi, but bad spelling is embarrassing in a 5-letter word.
Nice post, otherwise.
Bad Sushi is an incredible band and you’re lucky to know these fine young people.
And while the post IS good, it deliberately leaves off the clincher that Ashton, aka Charlie “Spike” Harper, is actually Cryor’s gay live-in boyfriend with constant issues of just which of them in the relationship is more masculine.
“SHUSHI” is the original spelling derived from the ancient warlords first interaction with America— accent on the first syllable and thus the classic spelling. After Commodore Perry opened the door to the Empire and the first American Ambassador Townsend Harris was appointed.
Upon the first formal dinner between the Emperor and Ambassador Harris, the Japanese served various courses of chopped/ sliced/ pickled fish rolled in seeweed and rice.
Apparently upon tasting, Ambassador Harris was heard to exclaim— and this is directly from the Imperial Archives— ” SHIT, This SURE IS TASTY!”.
Somewhat garbled in the translation, it was believed Townsend called it “SHUSHI”.
Later as this delicacy became extremely popular with Ninja warriors— known for their quickness, and in fact so quick that there was no need for the first letter “H” as they pronounced is so fast it became simply spelled “SUSHI”, Smarty-pants!!!!
P.S.
Ambassador Harris’ true remark— and this was hidden for centuries so as to not insult the Emperor— “SURE IS SHIT”. Thus the original “SHUSHI”, as the Nips had difficulty with English, even then.
AAAAHHHHH SOOOOOOOOOOO!
DJt,
Just to be nit picky:
The “et” in et al. is never followed by a full stop (a period). In fact the word “et” is Latin for “and”.
The word “al” in “et al”, should be followed by a full stop, as it is an abbreviation for “alii”, which means “others” in Latin.
So, et al. means “and others”. You would not write: AND.OTHERS, you would write “and others’.
Let’s keep it real.
SPEAKING in the legalese— wherein et.al. is the correct usage and punctuation.
AMAZING how many smarty pants litter this site— more intent on making nit picking comment rather than enjoying the humor, or attempt therein!
My guess is that he’ll play… Ashton Kutcher (or a highly stylized version of him) a la Larry David/Curbed. Ashton splits with Demi Moore and ends up moving in with the other two.
I’m not joking.
Is it a guess or a joke?
Yes, the season premiere will spike high, mostly out of curiosity. Wonder if Nikon will be a sponsor so we can see Ashton during the commercials as well?
But based on his lackluster movie career and relatively shallow sitcom experience, the odds are long that the series will return to its previously high ratings. Let’s face it – this happens all the time when a lead character, for whatever reason, leaves the show.
Cheers, Designing Women, Dukes of Hazzard (both leads left), Happy 8 Rules (due to John Ritter’s untimely demise), even the old Andy Griffith Show were never the same after the departure of one or more of the lead characters. Lorre’s program will probably hobble along for 1 to 2 more seasons, then quietly “retire” to syndication with the rest of the Two & A Half Men episodes.
The original shows (with Sheen) are still entertaining and draw repeat viewers nationwide. The scripts were well-written, the characters well-drawn, and the stories tightly paced. Maybe Ashton can benefit from that in the short-term, but he just doesn’t have the X-factor to carry the series as the lead. (I think it is his voiec – sounds too much like his annoying character on That 70′s Show (but that’s just me).
sorry, that should have read “…Happy Days, 8 Rules. . .”
This was a very well thought-out analysis. I like it.
That ’70s Show ran for about eight years. How is that “shallow sitcom experience”?
PLease, please SHAVE ASHTON. If you want people to watch that show then sheave him. He is pretty man. But only when he has short haircut. No one will watch that show if Ashton will look like a monkey.
Have the monkey spit water on Kramer….thats funny.
Really? People are still interested in this show? Enough that script pages have to be top secret? This isn’t the last eps of Lost, it’s a crappy sitcom. Those that really care are either flyover mouthbreathers, or Lorre employees.
Lost was a crap show/drama/mess…tv is crap.
Sheen is 13 years older than Kutcher. In Hollywood that makes him old enough to be his father… BINGO!
Charlie dies. Allen thinks he will inherit his brothers house. At the reading of the will, Charlie’s unknown son Harper is introduced.
Comedic gold ensues when Harper decides to have Allen and Jake pay rent instead of kicking them out of the house, and then turns right around and sleeps with Rose (who screams out “oh charlie”) on the first night.
That’s kind of the scenario I was looking for. Be good to have Charlie killed in a drunk driving accident just to make a good lesson for the kids. And the illegitimate son could have been with a former girl friend or a previously unknown, and could or could not have been known and supported by Charlie in secret.
Charlie should be murdered by a jealous husband. That would be karma
Yes that is a good way to continue with the show…to keep the other actors in business…
As I feel for them for loosing their job if the show is discontinued eventually. Even Charlie Sheen
might like the idea !!!
This show was always terrible, it couldn’t get much worse with Kutcher.
they should create a charlie sheen mailman character who keeps showing up spewing all his rambling drug-fueled skitzo stuff every day while delivering the mail and insisting he used to have a job making a million bucks a day and then always breaks down in hysterics when asked why he now delivers mail or something.
i never watched the show and still wont.
I like that idea a lot. Seriously.
I’m wondering how many episodes in before Demi Moore appears as “Hot Plastic Cougar” and ends up with Alan?
Or Jake.
I suspect Kutcher’s character is going to shop up on the doorstep looking for his long last dad, Charlie. Shortly after, they’ll Charlie was found dead in a hotel room in Rio, and that he died surrounded by women and booze.
Alan won’t buy that Kutcher’s character is Charlie’s son until the end, when they find out Charlie’s dead, and Kutcher says something extremely Charlie-like, like “poor bastard didn’t know if he was coming or going,” and Alan will say “Yeah, he’s my brother’s son, all right.”
Kill Charlie Harper, hack him into tiny pieces, and feed him to the sharks out back of the beach house. Anything and everything to cleans our pallets of the filthy scum that is C. Sheen.
YOU ARE PATHETIC JASON…P.A.T.H.E.T.I.C
I couldn’t agree more. Sheen played a part that a semi-trained chimp could have mastered.
Sheen played himself. Kutcher should do the same. Let Allen take the lead and Kutcher take a secondary role to Allen.Send Jake off to school… he isn’t cute or funny anymore. Rename the series Two Men and a Rose.
A funeral parlor would certainly be an easy place to have all the ex girlfriends arrive (and discuss poor, deceased Charlie.)
If the stories continue well-written and the characters well drawn and stories tightly-paced, the show can go on for a long time because the audience will readily transfer their allegiance to a new lead actor. Wrting and directing is the key to a long successful run. Ashton Kucher stumbled into a career-maker and Charlie Sheen shot himself in the foot.
yeah keep telling yourself that..
Well-written stories? That would be a deviation from the norm.
This show was never well-written, nothing on tv is well written. You really need to read something that is well-written.
I don’t think you should call Demi Moore’s pikachu a career-maker, and I doubt Mr. Kutcher “stumbled” into it. That thing’s not Carlsbad Caverns!
An even better concept would have been for Berta to go to work for Evelyn; maybe that can be the spinoff that would work. I think the two of them together would be hysterical.
Mildred Thomas,
What a brilliant idea you have:
“An even better concept would have been for Berta to go to work for Evelyn; maybe that can be the spinoff that would work. I think the two of them together would be hysterical.”
Sensational! The producers would be wise to hire you onboard.
Killing Charlie off is way too easy for Chuck Lorre. I will be greatly disappointed if this the best he can do.
Suggestions:
1) Charlie has a mental and physical break down and is in a VERY LONG TERM care facility which permits no visitors as Charlie has gone off the deep end.
2) Charlie gets busted for a serious DUI in which he, sadly, plows into a van killing five new nuns on their way to their very first convent. Big time… jail time.
3) Charlie is arrested and convicted for abusing a woman just before he trashes the hotel room and attacks the police officers trying to get him under control…another long term jail time crime.
4) Several of the ‘shunned’ women in Charlie’s past get together and poison him with a terminal amount a Viagra ground up in his booze. Death…with a classic ‘hard on’ that never goes way when ‘rigor’ sets in.
Chuck, don’t let us down…I am expecting something brilliant and funny.
So, uh, none of those ideas, then. Right?
You think your ideas are brilliant ? Seriously ? bouahahahaha
I like the viagra idea. Then explain that the funeral had to be closed casket because the undertaker was unable to get “it” to go down and he would have to be buried like that.
DID you watch the first show, they described as he he hit the train as blowiing up had nothing to do with his penis? what show were u watching
All of those sound good. The only thing that has carried the show for me so far is all the references to Charlie. Every eipsode except the last two was still being carried by Charlie’s memory and tales about his life. I feel like they left room for his return. (Rose’s back was to Charlie, she reached back and pushed the wrong person, Charlie took off out of there, hid out for awhile, we did not see a body, So “BOOM” he walks back in. It would work, I don’t know what they would do with Ashton, maybe get rid of him run one or two shows with just the rest of the cast and Charlie is back. Maybe this is just my dream but it keeps me watching, hoping, besides the rest of the cast is what is carrying Ashton anyway. We watched because Charlie was his character on and off the set, be honest, who wouldn’t want to be able to live like that? We didn’t watch hoping Charlie would go to rehab, get married, and straighten up, that would have really killed the show.
