EXCLUSIVE: Coming off a strong July in which it drew its largest audience (2.21 million) and women 25-54 rating (1.0/6) since February, CBS’ daytime talk show The Talk is undergoing some changes. I hear that heading into Season 2, the show has picked up the options of co-host/creator Sara Gilbert and co-hosts Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen, while the options of Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete have not been picked up. While the future of Remini and Robinson Peete is unclear, they are not expected to return when The Talk kicks off its second season Sept. 6. The show’s producing team, led by John Redmann, who has been with The Talk since the beginning, is currently mapping out the show’s creative direction for Season 2 before a decision is made about potentially bringing in new co-hosts. 
Osbourne had recently asked for some time off in the fall to be with her husband, so she will return to the show after that.
The Talk, the first network daytime talk show to successfully premiere in nearly 10 years, has delivered a 0.7 women 25-54 rating to date on the CBS O&O stations, improving its time slot by 17%. In the top three markets, the ratings improvement is between 33% and 133%. Additionally, the talk show has been sold internationally in the U.K., Mexico, Canada and India. The Talk started off with six co-hosts. One of them, Marissa Jaret Winokur, left in January. There were also behind-the-scenes changes, with Brad Bessey, who oversaw the launch, leaving in April. He was briefly replaced by Susan Winston before Redmann took charge.

Yes, I am in agreement with you. I do not find the show as fun as when they were on there, no offense to the current replacements. I find the one woman just a bit over the top, some times.
Leah and Holly had this relationship that just made you feel more like you could sit down and have lunch with them any time.
I will give it a bit longer, but am not sure how long I will continue to watch. I could care less if soaps come back on, however.

I cannot figure out these so call execs who cancel soaps and ruin a persons afternoon then come up with a new show. It took some time but I started liking it , then they mess it up by dropping 2 of the favorites. Or maybe thats why they were dropped.Anyways the stand ins are NOT making it so I will read or just change channels. I did that when CBS got rid of Harry Smith. Those people should be greeters at a funeral parlor. Thats how much personallity they have.
i really miss holly and leah. they really made the show. i know julie has her place there, with her husband being the big boss but they could do away with sara. get with the program sara. and mrs.o , she’s always getting bleeped. i was mad when as the world turns and guiding light was cancelled so i turned to the talk now i screen who’s on just to see if it’s worth it. cbs made a huge mistake getting rid of holly and leah. God bless you ladies. you both are truely class acts.
I agree. I love Sharon and Sara but, I want Leah and Holly back. The four of them make the show. I won’t be watching anymore.

I’m just getting around to looking into why Leah and Holly no longer on The Talk. I tried to give the show a chance while waiting for Holly and Leah to return. But I don’t know how much longer I will be watching. I was disappointed when As the World Turns went off the air, so I heard The Talk was going to take its place. The show was great! I knew Holly and Leah, enjoyed their work on TV over the years. I found them to be refreshingly moralizing. I don’t know about that now. So now I log on to the computer when The Talk is on, but I don’t look at the show. Somehow the show sickens me. And to be honest, Sara seemed happier before. Now she seems oh I don’t know can’t seem to put my finger on it. Okay how can we get them back?

Julie is a great host, somebody has to control the ladies. The star of the show is Sharon. The only reason I watch it.
People do not tune in to watch Julie Chen. They tune in to see Holly, Leah, Sharon and Sarah. They lost me as a viewer!! Who was she b4 the show? She is known for hosting big brother.

I agree that CBS made a big mistake and let two of the funniest women go. I was shocked and appalled when I realized this cut had been done. I immediately stopped taping the show and will not watch again. Every day I looked forward to watching and having a good laugh, so bye bye Talk and hello View again.

i have never tuned into day time talk i watched te view once in a great while because of whoopie..then the talk came alone and people everwhere were talking about it, i simple fel in love with the show because..i felt and bond with leah holly sarah and ms o, i tape it watch them over and over and all the fun leah brought to the show it was a mixnof personalitys thats come alone once in a life time, now i feel sick because i feel dupped like i was tricked into thinking all the wonderfull fun was real// cant believe its gone was it all a lie, but i tell you for abrief moment i had joy but i am leaving its over for me…
I watched the new show a few times and didn’t realize they were not all guest hosts. I literally turned off the show ten minutes in because it was boring as hell. I like ALL the hosts, and love Julie’s class, BUT like so many others I tuned in everyday to see Leah and Sharon O (LOVE HER!!) and Holly grew on me a lot. The show will tank with that list of hosts. Nothing against the new ladies, but I just don’t care what they have to say in the capacity of a talk show host.
I don’t understand how nor why you would take something or someone off T T that makes it worthwhile. Those where the two people that made me watch.Everyone else was so busy watching what they said trying to be so proper, while they really told us how their true feeling.

The Talk was “a hit from the beginning” Everyone I talked to about it “loved it” ESPECIALLY LEAH! We do not need or Want another show like the View. You just lost another viewer, but I am certain that CBS or Les Moonves does not care as long as Julie is the “Top Dog”. Bad decision on your part, and I hope this show falls flat on it’s face with the replacement “Fame Mother” Kris Jenner, heaven only knows the Kardashians are the “Royal Family” of America, HA-HA!

I agree, leah and holly were both funny and real.. Holly was on fire and leah was like a side kick, they get a long very well, and brought such a chemistry that brought the rest of the group togeather. I am not goinh to watch any more, and the DVR will not be recording the show either.. I do think it will be a mater of time b4 the producer realizes that keeping Les’s wife on board was the wrong choice…

First off Sharon has alot to say and does it well. I will give you Piers cause he sucks. But Not Sharon, she is great with kids and does phenomial interviews with celebrities and non celevrities.
I also will miss Leah and Holly. Both women represent that irreverent female voice that is missing from t.v. Those ladies remind me of me and my girlfriends. They will be sorely missed.

The worst thing CBS did was to let Holly & Leah go. They made the show funny and their wit was remarkable.
In this day and time when we need a laugh , they did it . I will no longer watch the TALK…It is off my list. I would rather clean house , mow the yard than watch the New cast.

Sharon grew on me watching her on The Apprentice and America’s Got Talent. I like her a lot. However, not enough to keep watching The Talk with the new hosts. I turned it off after ten minutes and will not be watching it anymore. I do agree with you that American programming is full of hosts with accents, Dancing W/Stars, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance…ALL of them have thick accents. I am sick of that!!!!!! Come on American’s — this is an ex of why we are considered “lazy American’s” in other countries. Everything we own is from overseas, and our reality shows are mostly hosted by foreigners.
The worst thing to happen to the show would be the exit of two of the funniest ladies on the show! I can’t imagine not having Holly, Leah, or Sharon on The Talk……if it ain’t broke (and it ain’t with Holly and Leah)….don’t fix it.

I agree with Freda! If anyone is dispensable at the table, it would be Sara. I know that she is the creative force behind the show, but she would be better behind the scenes. Leah is such a breath of fresh air, never afraid to say what she is feeling and I love Holly as well. The show will never be the same without either of them.
I really enjoy “The Talk” with all five ladies,and I am not very happy with this decision. They are all a breath of fresh air. The ages fit every age group. I say it is not broken, therefore take the politics out of it. There is finally a show after Oprah and Everybody Loves Raymond, that we can actually enjoy. Who does this? This is such a let down! I guess there is no need to continue watching.
No need to watch at all, I tried today and couldn’t do it. They were a great team and whatever moron decided that it needed to change is the one who needs to go. So much for knowing that I had a fun show with a variety of topics and people to watch. Great job CBS, if you are looking to lose viewers you are headed the right direction.
I agree with so many of these posts but you said it all – if it ain’t broke….. Get Sara (who doesn’t allow her children to watch TV as she has stated on so many occasions even though it is how she makes her living) off the screen and behind the scenes. Why in the world would you take a successful team that so many people enjoy and break it up. I am so disappointed that Holly and Leah are gone. Leah is the one who actually made Sara seem somewhat interesting rather than being the opinionated and close minded person she seems to be. And to not even acknowledge it, just open the show like nothing has changed. This viewer is done as I agree Sharon won’t last much longer with the “fun girls” gone, there will be nothing left. I would bet there are a lot of guests who will be declining as well, many of them were personal friends of Holly and Leah’s. What a miserable mistake CBS, it was a show I looked forward to watching and you have taken that away.
Frankly, I am glad Leah is gone. Her constant bragging about how spoiled her little girl is was nauseating (remember the pictures of her birthday party?). Also, the way she constantly tried to ridicule Sara about her lifestyle choices, especially the lesbian “jokes”, was uncalled for. Seemed like she wasn’t really the “friend” she would have had us think. It was difficult for Julie (a classy woman) to try to deflect many of Leah’s offensive comments. Holly was fine until she got on her soap box and turned topics into racial issues.
Up until yesterday, I have never commented on anything online. I didn’t realize initially that Leah and Holly had been dropped from the show and everyday I kept hoping they would be back. This was the only show I set my DVR to tape daily. I looked forward to coming home from work and sharing an hour with “the Talk”. I love Sharon and Sara and Julie are okay, but really miss Leah and especially Holly. I didn’t watch the show for the guests, I watched it for the hosts and though there were some good guests that I enjoyed watching. I mostly enjoyed the commentary about recent events in the news. Leah and Holly, like Mrs O have a way of making you feel like you know them personally and I will truly miss watching this show. It just isn’t worth wasting an hour of my life every day. I have nothing against the newbies, but they do not bring to the show what Leah and Holly did. They were interesting, funny, and mostly they were real in a way that these others are not. CBS made a big mistake on this one. I could understand it if like Charlie Sheen their own actions brought this on, but from what I can tell, this was a political move and I do hope it hurts the ratings. It won’t bring them back, but it would serve CBS and the people in charge right to have the show fail because of their actions. I hope Holly and Leah team up with Mrs. O and start a similar show on another network. That would be worth watching!!!!

I agree with all of the above comments. I truly enjoyed watching the talk mainly because of Leah and Holly and Sharon. They have a way of making you laugh all the time, yet they can be very serious when needed. I have watched the talk a couple of times this week and thought they were on vacation. (week of 9/12/11)

I like all the hosts of The Talk, but my favorite was Leah. The differences between all of the ladies, and how they worked so well together was the total appeal of the show. Until CBS wakes up and brings the ladies back together I will no longer be a viewer. Shame on the network for ruining an enjoyable hour of television.

“The Talk” will not be “The Talk” without Leah and Holly. They were the main reason I watch the show. The humor, sincerity and being real is what makes the show above the rest. Maybe they should consider doing their own show. I know I’d watch. Ladies keep smiling.

I definitely agree with you, I will not watch the show anymore. Holly Robinson Pete and Leah Remini made the show. They would always make you laugh, I looked forward to the show everyday. Sarah Gilbert is boring and does not bring anything to the show. I will not watch the show ever again. I think Sarah was just jealous of Leah.
I think you nailed it! Which is sad because without Leah noone would have paid any attention to Sara at all, Leah was the one who reminded you she was at the table. And Sara was not enjoyable at all the last few weeks, her opinions were getting out of hand to the point of insulting guests who brought her treats “I don’t eat dairy.”. I want Holly and Leah back or the show is off my list.

I’m not surprised to see Holly and Leah were dismissed. I was embarassed for them both when I watched the episode when they were rolling around on the floor. I agree. Bring back the soaps. I only watched because of Leah. I now dislike JULIE CHEN to the max x 10. Holly & Leah were the interesting and funny ones, so natural, so down to earth, so normal…. In my own way, I agree with Marissa Vega. But, there are a few things I’d like to add. Julie hogs the spotlight WAY TOO MUCH, Sara looks bored and Sharon’s mind seems to be somewhere else. I’m also very disappointed today to find out Leah who I just felt was the show is gone. I loved Holly also because she and Leah are real and the others are too wrapped up in themselves that they can’t be themselves. Sorry but I speak for alot of viewers and the show will be cancelled and just remember why!!!!

I will not watch The Talk. Leah and Holly made the show. They were straight up when it came to there Opinion the did not hold bake what they had to say. They should just cancel the show now.

I didn’t expect to like the show but gave it a shot just because Leah was going to be a part of it and I loved it. Now that she and Holly are gone I will not watch it. Julie is ok but would much rather Leah take her place. If the show is going to continue without Leah and Holly (I would feel the same if they took off Sara and Sharon)than i rather the soaps return i miss them anyway.

Everyone knows Jon Redmann is known for sabotaging fellow executive producers while he kisses up to the talent and offers no creative ideas. The person who’s option should never be picked up is his.
Fewer hosts is a good idea for “The Talk.” But if they are looking to add anyone, they should really consider including Debi Gutierrez in the mix. She’s funny, quick-witted, and has hosted her own show dealing with similar subject matter on PBS.
Why not just call it The Julie Chen Show? The home movies would be a hoot.

Kate Gosselin is a horrible idea so the daytime folks at CBS are probably seriously considering it. And, as several others have already noted, no one who poses a threat, real or imagined, to Julie Chen stands a chance. I know Bonnie Hunt already had her shot at a talk show but for my money she has the class, the charm and the humor that “The Talk” so desperately needs.
Kate would LOVE this. All the attention on her and not the kids who made her rich, but whom she hates.

I think the show works well in its current form with Leah and Holly’s energy helping to balance the least appealing of the five, Julie and Sara. But when you’re the wife of Les Moonves or one of the show’s creators I guess your position is safe regardless of what you bring to the table.
I can’t wait to hear the rationale behind the dismissals.

I was hoping someone would mention Les Moonves. I watched the Talk daily, and now that Holly and Leah have been fired? (I just can’t believe it). Sara is okay, but doesn’t bring much to the show. And Julie Chen. Well, I know why she is where she is now, Les Moonves. How disgusting is that?

Okay so I admit I sometimes overhear the show when my wife DVRs it. I wonder why Peete and Remini are not being renewed. They are great for the show. Something fishy.

Leah and Holly to possibly exit? Are you kidding? Leah brings that “kick ass” New York/Jersey no-nonsense style to the show. And Holly Robinson is an African-american who not only identifies w/being black, but can still relate to/identify with being a celebrity actor, wife of an athlete, mom, as well as the average everyday person. Why do new shows try to fix what “ain’t broken”. Ugh….

I just removed The Talk from my DVR schedule! At least acknowledge that two of the cohosts are missing. Do the execs at CBS not give the viewers credit enough to notice! This is too bad because I USE to enjoy this show. Count me out.

My whole family spend the weekend catching up on the weeks episodes. We. Loved Leah & Holly as well Sharon and all their funny antics. Julie and Sara are just not enough of an attraction for our family to watch. After the big brother segments we felt it would not be long before they were let go from the show. Sharon please be careful as they may make you next. I love you on AGT. I hope the trio will get together and have their own show since my son,husband and I now have Five more free hours a week to now do something else since thevTalk no longer is an option in ourbhome

You are ABSOLUTELY correct! She could carry her own show (which is probably why Chenbot wants her gone. I love Sara, but a talk show is not her best move. Leah was just awful and Sharon wasn’t much better, but–in a perfect world–Holly (who has a fan in Oprah, I believe) would host her OWN show opposite The Talk. Julie is a non-entity because she is too politically correct for a show of this ilk. The last woman standing among this cast should be Holly!!! I’m a big fan of CBS in general, but in this case, it stands for Colossally BigmiStake!

Remini is the best of the bunch, unfortunately the middle aged female audience probably just never “got” her bitter (and at times loud lol) sarcasm. She’s naturally hilarious if you have a real sense of humor. I guess the producers just feel that i’s audience would rather listen to a robot, a bumbling brit (whom I like — but c’mon) and a boring vegan. Lovely.
Like another poster said “There is something fishy” going on at “The Talk”. It’s blown through EP’s and Show Runner personel, Marrisa Winoker didn’t make it passed the first week. Now Leah and Holly are outsies. I need this show to get “fixed” because it comes on at 1pm here where nothing else does. Selfish on my part. I think Sara as much as I am all up in the GLBT community needs to stay behind the scenes. Sarah’s voice and energy is super dull and excitement-less.
You said it girl!! I tried to give it a shot today and other than Jennifer it was a huge yawn and I normally like Molly Shannon. The audience looked totally bored and weren’t nearly as enthusiastic as they used to be. Pretty dumb move on CBS’s part.

I was going to switch over to the show after I finished with ABC in Jan. 2012 (when OLTL finishes)but it does not sound like a very
solid show.
