V star Joel Gretsch has joined the cast of NBC’s new 1960s drama The Playboy Club as a recurring, playing a major competitor to lead guy Nick Dalton (Eddie Cibrian). Gretsch, repped by APA and Mosaic, will play the incumbent State’s Attorney in Chicago, and a semi-regular at the Playboy Club. He’s destined to be running against Nick in the upcoming election.

From a upcoming series to a departing one. Jessica Hecht (Bored to Death, Breaking Bad) is in final negotiations for a recurring role on the final season of ABC’s Desperate Housewives. She will play a love interest for newly separated Tom Scavo (Doug Savant).

Former Tudors co-star David Alpay has booked a major recurring role on another Showtime costume drama, the medieval series Borgias. He will play Calvino, an Italian prince and suitor to Lucrezia Borgia. Alpay, repped by APA and KLWG, most recently stared in the Fox drama pilot Weekends at Bellevue.

Carla Gugino has been tapped as the lead in TNT’s movie Hide, based on Lisa Gardner’s book. Gugino plays Boston Police Detective D.D. Warren, who investigates the discovery of the mummified remains of six young women, who have all been missing for years, at an abandoned mental hospital. It is the latest entry in the new TNT Tuesday Night Mystery movie franchise, slated to launch in November, that will feature six contemporary crime dramas. At least some some of the movies are being eyed as potential backdoor pilots. Hide is written by Janet Brownell, directed by Ghost Whisperer creator John Gray and executive-produced by Stephanie Germain.
