No surprise here — USA’s buddy caper White Collar has been renewed for a fourth season with a 16-episode order. Also pending at the network are the pickups of sophomore Covert Affairs and freshman Necessary Roughness. This is the third series to be renewed this summer by USA, which is logging another dominating ratings performance with its originals, following the recent second-season pickup of newbie Suits and a final-season renewal for In Plain Sight.

As far as I can tell, USA renews its shows just as they are about to finish filming their current seasons, which is the case here.
I’m waiting to hear official news re. renewal for ‘Necessary Roughness’, which ended up being my surprise summer favorite.

Scripted series in the summer can work when you have “characters welcome”. Go Bonnie!! Maybe when the network heads finally watch these shows, they’ll put them on Broadcast Network in the Fall…new business model anyone?
