EXCLUSIVE: Sarah Paulson had been with ICM before signing with UTA. Best known for her co-starring role on NBC’s high-profile but short-lived Aaron Sorkin TV series Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination, she will next be seen in the Fox Searchlight film Martha Marcy May Marlene which debuted at Sundance, and recently wrapped the Jay Roach-directed HBO movie Game Change. Paulson, whose series credits also include Deadwood, toplined NBC’s untitled Kari Lizer comedy pilot this past season. She is managed by Perri Kipperman.

She is great…and why doesn’t anyone talk about her bootylicious derriere?
Leigh Brillstein is a spectacular agent who fights
So hard for her clients…Sara is a fine actress
Who is mediocre looking and thus does not have
a big career…So UTA will do a lesser version of
Brillsteins Job and Sara will still be in the same
boat but not as successful
Adam Schweitzer was an amazing agent for her. Her loss.
It’s completely not obvious that you and your co-worker are the last two comments. Maybe she sucks, maybe she doesn’t. But it’s poor form when clients leave and agents try and come on Deadline to save face.
ICM means in between careers. They were with actors that have been elsewhere and achieve nothing for them.
Anonymous—Adam and Leigh got Sarah a pilot, an HBO movie, and a hot indie all in one year — I’d hardly call that “achieving nothing”. If the client is a crazy person and super high maintenance to begin with, clearly it’s a stupid, selfish, and un-called-for decision on her part. Too bad for Sarah. UTA will never be able to meet her ridiculous demands. Won’t be surprised one bit to see her crawling back.
Dreadful actress. The best thing she’s done is Cherry Jones.
Hilarious…But honestly Cherry Jones was too good for even the likes of her.
“Dreadful”? That’s a bit much, Kieran. I like her alright. But I don’t remember her on Deadwood.
Miss Isringhausen was unforgettable
Sarah is an awesome gal and great actress…worked with her on J&J so I would know..not like the rest of you haters. Spread the love, your town needs it.
A secret twin/clone of Maria Bello?
I have to agree with Kieran. Deadwood Fan if you don’t remember her on that show, it means she was overshadowed and out acted by every actor she was in a scene with.
The best thing I have ever seen her do is an episode of Law and Order SVU. She was believable as a rich sociopath. Other than that I have never seen her do anything well.
She’s UTA’s problem now.
Sarah who? ICM has been on a tear, and so losing Sarah Paulson who has proven again and again she can’t pop is nothing more than an after thought. ICM has Emmy nominees, gigantic showrunners, and put up a few Oscar winners last year. Sarah who?
We all know in this town ICM has been on one tear and that is tearing each other apart internally or simply the door being torn open by the very very few profile actors they have left like Idris Elba, Stephen Moyer, Aaron Paul, Rosario Dawson, Claire Danes…it goes on and on and on and on….until they are left with rehab jobs like Topher Grace
Good for her! I loved her on Studio 60, and she also shined on Nip/Tuck and her other projects. She was even good on Cupid, and the show wasn’t even very good. I hope that they get her more exposure.
Maybe she can get a stint on “The Good Wife” I hear she and Margulies have very good chemistry together.
Sarah has good chemistry with Julianna Margulies? Didn’t know that. They do share the same publicist, though – Cari Ross.
Why do an agency’s true feelings about their clients only come out AFTER a client leaves, and anonymously as vitriolic posts on Deadline? (Who else but the agency would care to trash a non-A-list actor publicly?) If you think someone is a nobody, WHY DID YOU REPRESENT THEM? Charity?
Sarah will be fantastic in the HBO film “Game Change.” She’ll be starring as real-life politico Nicolle Wallace (who has no agent but is seen constantly on MSNBC).
Sarah is great as a redhead/southerner – check her out as “Bunny Yaeger” in ‘The Notorious Bettie Page.’ Given this, Sarah should have won the role in ‘The Help’ that unfortunately was handed over to Bryce Dallas Howard.
For you Sarah Paulson doubters, just the short film “After School Special”. She’s terrific in it! Stop hating because you don’t have the talent!

All of her shows have flopped for a reason. Unfortunately she seems like a lost soul trying to work her way to the next project through either her friends or lovers.
Wow. Now where’s the actual discussion in all this sniping? Jeez. I’m here on behalf of fans looking for Miss Paulson, who think that she has done an excellent job in her work. I’ve only seen her in American Gothic, and have yet to form an opinion.
But instead of discussing the actual move to UTA, most people here seem content to insult one another and her. If anyone needs me, I’ll be lurking waiting for the grown ups to get home and log on.
Alright then, Abi. Give us some insight on ‘why did Sarah Paulson move from ICM to UTA?’ The ICM backers did make a point that ICM landed Sarah Paulson some quality projects this year, including a pilot, an indie movie and an HBO movie.
So what’s the story, Morning Glory? Was Sarah Paulson mad about one specific thing? Example: there was a movie part she really, really wanted, but didn’t get, because Leigh Brillstein was doing enough for her?
I’d like to know.
