His movie may have ultimately been successful in edging The Smurfs for the weekend box-office crown, but Cowboys & Aliens star Harrison Ford still has a lot of rage towards the blue gnomes bottled up and let some of it out on Conan tonight.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Of course, Smurfs played in quite a bit fewer cinemas and made more per screen. And it cost less.
So, Smurfs (as bad as it is–and it’s only a smidge better than cowboys and aliens) actually won.
Take that, Harrison.
But that’s because the Smurfs had 3D showing, C&A didn’t. There’s no report on which sold more tickets.
There are some interesting articles on how much money Sony has sunk into marketing the pic for the past five years or so. There’s no reason to put one film down to make the other look good, but I wonder how much of the reason’s for the Smurfs’ success is their marketing. Hell, they had five or so cars in the Tour De France parade, where they were called the Schtromfetts or something; and there were only three Americans there to see it(I saw the other two, because they were decked in red, white, blue, and little flags on their caps).
Hell Yeah.
It was like watching old yellow ( the dog) die over and over again with cliches.
Aliens, dragon flies and bs.
That’s awesome!
Translation: “Dad, your movie sucks big time!”
The friggin’ Smurfs? This really is the End Times.
And for the record, Cowboys & Aliens was awesome.
I think it would actually be an indication of the End of Time if more people actually thought C & A is awesome.
It’s probably how I’d feel too, if my $160-million pic just tied some animated blue gnomes for #1.
So Harrison Ford is making movies like “Cowboys Vs. Aliens” and tearing up Smurf dolls on late night for publicity. Very sad times.
Love Harrison – class act and he has a great sense of humor and sense of fun. Great clip.
Love it. He’s got a great sense of humor.
Reminds me of when the X-Files movie was released at the same time as Mulan and then it was overtaken the next weekend by Mulan and Doctor Dolittle. I would never release a film the same weekend or even close to a kid’s movie. Kid’s movies bring parents as well and it’s tough to compete with that.
The guy’s got a sense of humour….LOL
I love Harrison Ford!
Yeah, it’s not as though the Smurfs have been relevant since the early 80s, worldwide, with animated television series, animated movies (direct to video release), tons of merchandising, comic strips, books, etc. for children that have grown into adults and now have children. It should be no surprise that The Smurfs came close. See how next weekend fairs. I think that should be interesting.
Kids like to see the same movies over and over…
I watched Cowboys& Aliens and Horrible Bosses this week end.
I liked C&A.
Quite a bit of fine acting coming from Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, but then Steven Spielberg had to get into the plot and bring his war of world monsters back into the public eyes. Hasn’t he got the memo yet?
It simply read: “War of the Worlds is BAD. Stop. It”
Horrible Bosses was just bad. It couldn’t get a proper laugh out of me.
I found the bosses more interesting than the lousy employees.
I can’t believe it made already a 100 mil. at the BO.
