Today, a courtroom battle was set to play out in LA Superior Court, pitting William Sherak against Dave Phillips over whether the latter deserved to be paid for introducing Sherak to the technology that led to the formation of 2D-to-3D conversation house Stereo D, only to have Phillips be offered $30,000 while Sherak was paid millions and given stock. I laid out the facts of the case in a recent story after the judge denied a motion by Sherak’s lawyer for dismissal and set the court date. Well, the whole thing has been resolved in an out-of-court financial settlement. Now, nobody wants to talk about who was right or wrong.

>Now, nobody wants to talk about who was right or wrong
What is this “right” and “wrong” you speak of?
Dave Phillips first met William Sherak when he was a little shit Director of Development at Davis, and Dave had a first look there, in his little Corner of the Sky. Yikes.
Who cares, that was years ago. What matters is that justice was obviously done just like in Hollywood’s own version of Social Network.
Who cares you dummy, they met years ago. What matters is that Hollywood’s own version of Social Network ended the same way, with justice being served. Note to self: Don’t screw friends who help you….
So which one do we blame for 3D?
The Academy President’s son doesn’t hire one of the biggest law firms in town and then write a big check for nothin.Congrats Dave. Case closed.
Clear as a bell that Sherak did wrong and then doubled back to play clean up once he realized the judge could not be influenced by Daddy Tom.
Ain’t that the truth! Sometimes even the best “connections” can’t overcome the fact that justice has to be served.
Why does it always have to come to a court showdown when there is plenty of money to go around?
And then there is Chris Mallick. Simply G00gle his name or better yet…”Oxymoron Entertainment” to see the kind of people are behind the scenes. He sold his interest in this but has yet to pay the people he owes.
