EXCLUSIVE: After yet another bidding war over a comedy project this season, CBS has landed a multi-camera comedy from Mr. Sunshine co-creators/executive producers Alex Barnow and Marc Firek with a put pilot commitment. The project, about newlyweds, hails from Sony Pictures TV, where UTA-repped Barnow and Firek are under their third consecutive overall deal. They will write and executive produce. This is the duo’s second sale this season; they also have a script about adult siblings set up at NBC. I hear the two projects are in shared first position.

Love these guys.
I’m sure I’ll be dubbed a hater, but one can only hope these new projects are better than “Mr. Sunshine”. It was truly disappointing.
Hey, “Mr. Sunshine” was god awful let’s give the people responsible more money to repeat their past mistakes! Hurray! Raises for everyone!
Can’t believe how many put pilots have been placed already. Networks are spending money to find new comedy gems huh?
Congrats to two great writers. Before people start going off on “Mr. Sunshine” – read a few of the credits for some old episodes of “The Family Guy.” Marc Firek is responsible for several of the funniest ones ever made.
hey, besides being smart, funny, and talented, these guys are tall. very tall. and in the end, isn’t that what it’s all about: being tall? i think so. i mean, sure, the ideas they sold this year are probably two of the strongest and most commercially viable ones pitched so far. And yes, they have a better track record than most of their peer working today. But in the end, when it’s all said in done, you don’t want to sit behind these guys in a movie theater and even more importantly, you don’t want to find yourself on the other end of an impromptu rebounding contest with these literal literary giants.
Congrats guys!!!
