• You know, why are they even bothering with this? Does somebody have $200 million they have to burn through by the end of 2012 for tax purposes or something?

  • Warners is on a timetable w/SUPERMAN’s creators’ estates. This film is being made under the deal Warners/DC made without their input before SUPERMAN RETURNS & they’ve got a closing window in which to make this film or they have to renegotiate, this time w/Seigel & Shusters’ estates participating & likely demanding a higher price, of which they will share.

    Goyer is a GOOD comic book writer & part of the reason Nolan’s Bat-films have been so good. His input, along with Nolan’s early nurturing have given the project a lot of leeway from comic fans, like myself, as the details seem to suggest “SUPERMAN II, 2.”

    I like Ormond & am sorry to see her go, but I’m still far more at ease with her replacement than I am with Russell Crowe as another wildly miscast Jor-el.

  • I have no idea whether or not Man Of Steel is going to be worth anything. It’s looking a little…well…Zach Snider-y for my taste. That said, if your interest in a Superman movie is moved a great deal in either direction by who plays Lara…it’s time to re-assess some things about your life.

• It’s the one character out of the four “parents” who clearly does the least. The fathers’ philosophies are pitted against one another in the original Superman and Ma Kent is the only surviving parent… Maybe Ormond balked at her limited role? Not that I’m sure what else she’s up to nowadays.

  • Deserves better? It’s a damn acting part in a high profile film. Give me a break. And no you wouldn’t have left. Unless you enjoy ruining your reputation and don’t enjoy receiving a paycheck. Just because it’s a film with high action doesn’t mean that production is going to be easy. it takes longer than your standard boring, dramas to produce and put pieces together. Besides, I’ve heard that things are going fine with production. Nolan wouldn’t put up with anything other than perfection with the project. Everyone just relax. Sheesh

• Ayelet Zurer is really stunning and very talented. She’s amazing. That woman is incredible. Good for her to keep landing such high profile roles. She deserves it. It’ll be an equisite performance, just wonderful.

  • Are you her Husband, or her assistant? Stunning? wonderful? are you on Drugs? In Angel and Demons she played the role with a ridicules accent, and a VERY unattractive look,her lips are tight when she was trying to say those complicated words… she ruined that film, if they took someone like a Sofia Vigara who would have done an accent, and you would have seen Tom Hanks really being turned on by her sensuality… as a character it wound hav made it more inserting… Zurer is boooooring, old, and we heard very pushiii- Yuikes.

• There’s no reason to assume Crowe had anything to do with the re-casting. Unless someone speaks out, it’s wrong to assume anything… many things could have happened… or just didn’t.

  One factor to consider… Ormand is in her late 40′s and looks her age. Ayelet is in her early 40′s and looks younger than Ormand. In Hollywood, there’s an unfortunate propensity to cast younger women to play older characters… it’s rare to have husband and wife [parents] roles filled by actors the same age if there’s a young adult son character. Remember Angelina Jolie being cast as Colin Farrell’s mother in Alexander? Not saying this is what happened in this case, but ??

• Ya know, I REALLY REALLY LIKED ‘Superman Returns’, so to see so many radical switches (especially ‘Man of Steel’ caving into DC Comics ‘The New 52′ costume look) I’m excited but cautiously so. I’ll go for ANY casting, almost-ANY aesthetic change, but Please: BRING BACK THE JOHN WILLIAMS SCORE!!!

• Ayelet caught my attention as an amazing talent in MUNICH. I’ve wondered why we haven’t seen her more. Julia Ormand, on the other hand, just doesn’t add any sizzle. Whether people go to see the SUPERMAN reboot has nothing to do with either of these actresses, except to their families.
