EXCLUSIVE: I’m hearing that Bill Fay is leaving Legendary Pictures where he worked in physical production as president. Sources say its been in the works for a while as boss Thomas Tull and his chief creative officer Jon Jashni are ready to start production on several films in 2011 and thought the timing was right. Fay plans to move on to producing and may work with the company on its U.S.-China Legendary East projects.

With a fast-growing list of American entertainment executives going to China and co-production projects – Bill Fays’ move has a lot of logic behind it
Bill Fay is one of the greatest most stand up guys in Hollywood. I wish him all the success!
Yeah John, its clear you don’t know the man…he’s without a doubt the most wonderful person in hollywood. Exactly what a exec should be, kind, hard working, dedicated, and smart as can be. I will still continue to use him as an example of the exec I strive to be….
So Fay leaving without a producing deal? Just as several big movies about to go into production? Sounds like he was asked to leave.
He’s easily one of the nicest, smartest and most trustworthy guys in a town full of mendaciousness and avarice. Wherever he goes next will be thanking their lucky stars before long.
Bill is an awesome standup guy. big loss for legendary. I am sorry to hear that for them. glad to hear Bill is on to a new adventure.
Bill is one of the good guys. I have seen him in the crossfire and he makes great choices under pressure. Wherever he lands, he will be an asset.
I agree, Bill is the nicest, most talented person in this industry. Wherever he goes, he’ll do great! Wishing him and his family best of luck!
I had the pleasure of meeting Bill Fay 13 years ago for an informational meeting as a recent college graduate, and he was gracious, insightful and generous with his time in the midst of heavy production on feature. That kindness hasn’t been forgotten and speaks to his status as one of the really good guys in a town that is very hit and miss.
There isn’t a classier, nicer, more stand up guy in the business. Truly a big loss for Legendary. Bill is going to continue to do amazing work wherever he lands!
Bill Fay is one of the nicest, most sincere, most knowledgable people I’ve had the pleasure to meet and learn from in my journeys through this town. This is a huge loss for Legendary and they’d be foolish if they didn’t know what they are losing. Regardless, Bill will be on to new adventures and new successes and I’ll be happy to cheer him on.
Bill was the producer on my first feature production 15 years ago and he has been connected with a number of projects that I have worked on over the years. He is a pleasure to work for and a stand up guy. always time for everyone no matter what department or position.
I hope I get to work with him in his new situation.
I met Bill when I was working for an new VFX company venture and from the first moment I met him I trusted him and wanted to work with him on anything he could offer. Can’t say that about the people I was working for at the time! LOL
Good luck man.
Speaking from having personally dealt with him a little, Bill truly is one of the classiest folks in the business! I wish him the absolute best with his future!
I’ve only heard the best regarding Mr. Fay, and know he’s special in his field, with a new vision that he will actualize. I look forward to finally meeting with him on a professional level.
