Charlie Sheen Roast: Lotsa Industry Jabs
UPDATED: It looks like on their own, Charlie Sheen and Two and a Half Men may be bigger ratings hits than they were together — at least in their first post-separation outings. After CBS’ Two and a Half Men posted series records last night for its season premiere that introduced Sheen’s replacement Ashton Kutcher, Comedy Central’s Roast of Charlie Sheen did the same for the cable network’s roast franchise. The special pulled in 6.4 million viewers, a 4.5 rating in adults 18-49 and a 6.2 in 18-34 for its 10 PM premiere, making it the most-watched and highest-rated roast in the history of the Comedy Central franchise. (Sorry, Donald!) In adults 18-49, the roast was the highest-rated telecast ever for Comedy Central. Across all plays last night, the special amassed 10 million viewers.

GOTTA love PR!
“Comedy Central’s Roast Of Charlie Sheen Highest Rated In Franchise History”
A “roast”. Do people even watch those anymore? I realize that SOMEONE does and I also understand that just because I don’t doesn’t mean that no one else does either.
Course, “someone” watches JERSEY SHORE, “someone” will be first in line for THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE II, and “someone” can’t wait to see Taylor Lautner in ABDUCTION.
Indrid, the roast was hilarious.
Indrid, bubby, i’m your white knight
Doug, you want John McClane? I can give em’ to ya.
Does this mean that Masheen just got CRUSHED? He got 6.4M and his prior employer got 27.7M!!!
I am not suggesting that his roast stood a chance, but he tand his huge promo campaign went head-to-head with 2 1/2 FOR A REASON.
Wooops.
No Bobo – he got 10 Million Viewers, which is how much 2 1/2 men will draw next week and then fizzle and fade… Get ready for “Anger Management”… baby…!
It was a terrible show though. With no Lisa Lampanelli, no Whitney Cummings, no Gilbert Gottfried and no Greg Geraldo there was no point. No idea why Mike Tyson was asked to do stand-up. He can barely stand much less tell jokes. Worst roast I’ve ever watched. Half the people on the dais were actually painful to listen to they were so bad (e.g. Steve-O).
That blond girl was funny. And, Seth had some funny zingers.
I agree, the show tanked. The only good one was Jeff Ross. McFarlane, Walsh, Steve-O, Tyson, don’t-know-her-name blond, Shatner all tanked, one of the worst roasts.
The roasting of Charlie Sheen was still funnier than 2.5 men last night. Really disappointed after waiting so long. I hope it gets better.
Well then, 2.5 Men has no place to go but down.
Once we lost Greg Giraldo I knew these roasts would drop down a notch or two. And they have. Without him there my interest level dropped. I tuned in for a few segments, but it was mediocre.
one word…WINNING!!!!
I watched the new revamped 2 & 1/2 men. Not funny – Ashton never could act – he’s a stiff poker and the nudity was just ‘dumb’- Kutcher must be zooming all the way to the bank until the curious get tired of watching – what a mistake.
The roast line of the night,
“Charlie Sheen is responsible for more abortions than the pre-natal test for Down’s Syndrome.”
Now that’s comedy!
Agreed. Loved his set the most.
the ratings for 2.5 were mostly curiosity, the show wasn’t very funny. the funeral service was all Lorre taking shots at Charlie, there wasn’t much laughter, and the second half, when nothing else works…..lets try nudity. I think it would have worked out better if they didn’t replace him. Cryer could carry the show.
Maybe if Les finally decides to grow some, and doesn’t let Lorre or his wife fire people because they’re so insecure, then we can watch good tv again.
Amy Schumer (sp?) was the best comic last night. I really missed Lisa Lampanelli though, she needs to be back next time!!!
I’m the demo CC is after and found about 75% of the roast pretty crude and immature. Especially the Ryan Dunn joke to Steve-O from the heavier set blonde girl. I look forward to the day our generation laughs with the jokes, instead of at them…
