After The Expendables turned in a surprisingly strong $275 million worldwide gross, many have wondered what they would do for an encore. How’s this? Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis have just closed deals to take “substantial” roles in The Expendables 2, alongside Sylvester Stallone. This has been rumored as possible, and it basically answers the hopes of a lot of fans who weren’t satisfied when action icons Schwarzenegger and Willis turned in cameos in the original, and poked fun at the days when they were the world’s top action stars. Stallone directed the first one but stepped out and the job went to Simon West. Filming will begin in October, and Lionsgate will once again release the Millennium Films-produced actioner. Schwarzenegger and Willis are repped by CAA. Schwarzenegger is already working for Lionsgate in the Jee-Won Kim-directed action film Last Stand. Willis will squeeze in the role before going off to Russia to reprise his John McLane role in Die Hard 5, which just landed John Moore as director at Fox, and then he will make a sequel to Red. Aside from Stallone, original cast members Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews and Jet Li are expected to return, and there is buzz about Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Do we need to start a petition for Jeff Speakman?

This movie would be perfect if only there was a woman’s role for maybe Cynthia Rothrock. I bet she’s still an ass kicking woman. I’d love to see if Dudikoff could come in for maybe a bad guy role.
I was thinking of Rothrock but couldn’t remember her name until your post. Agreed, we could use a female Expendable! She had quite a straight-to-video run in the early 90s.
Michael Dudikoff!
I really don’t want to see Schwarzenegger for a while – he’s still got the stench of “creepy-a$$-cheater”. Maybe in like 3 years I would be able to forget his deceitful life.
How about Jesse “The Body” Ventura? Or is he still bustin conspiracies?
Love it. Sly still doing things his way. Just like he started his career. I’m in for opening weekend no matter what.
What is the climax? Do they blow up the Planet Hollywood hotel/casino in Vegas?
I’d put Cynthia Rothrock on the list. She could hold her own with these three middle agers.
The Geriatricals.
I hope in the sequel, there will be more amazing fight scenes.
If Chuck Norris and Jean Claude Van Damme are now confirmed, it would be good if they include Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal, Michael Jai White, Kurt Angle and Bill Goldberg.
C’mon, bring Seagal in. The fatso was the best part of Machete.
It would be great if literally every character in this were played by a once-prominent or once-semi-prominent action star. Don “the Dragon” Wilson. Michael Dudikoff. Cynthia Rothrock. Jan-Michael Vincent. The sadder the better.
The badguy kid from Karate Kid…..
Planet Hollywood-The Movie
so stone cold isnt returnin as an evil twin…? obviously van damme and lundgren have to have the fight similar to that of unisol..r maybe van damme and jet li,so he can bitch slap that little eastern midget…
Oi, no need to be rude. Jet Li is by far a more technically talented fighter then Van Damme and his lame ass Savate BS (That being said, There is no doubt in my mind he could kick my head clean off with out really trying….).
I wanted to love the first one but (spoilers?) not killing any of the good guys was a mistake. About halfway through I realized they were really The Anything-But-Expendables and it just made it boring. This is from someone who enjoyed Rambo, BTW. I hope they change this in the sequel.
Went to the premiere of the first with great anticipation and was terribly disappointed. The script was awful, even by this genre’s standard. It was much more humorless than I expected.
How about Sarah Palin as the boss? It’s a perfect fit!
nah, this is an Action Flick not a horror show.
Michael Dudikoff!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please, I am great fans of Arnold, Stallone, Dolph, Van Damme, Bruce Willis only. Please, stay headlines are Arnie, Sly, Dolph, Van Damme (Super Villain) and Bruce Willis. I want to combats and fires more. It will certain only rated “R”, don’t “PG-13″. Thanks!
They shoulda called this The Dependsables
I hope Stallone is still writing the script; the dude knows how to write action and how to make each member of the ensemble shine.
Expendables is one of the best examples of movie badassery ever filmed.
Every old, unsexy, untalented actor gets a job!
Yeah, come on, man, where’s Apollo Creed? Bury that hatchet and let the dude come back, Sly. Make the fans happy, man, trust me they’ll pay you back.
STALONE IS A BETTER DIRECTOR THEN SIMON “COMMERCIAL R US” WEST. IT’S A MOVIE NOT A SCOTCH AD
Two words: Mr. T (T isn’t a word I suppose, but you know what I mean…)
They need Freddy and Jason, the rest are optional
How about The Rock?
