• With all due respect to the immensely talented Charlize Theron, Gary Oldman had a body of work before she got out of diapers and Cronenberg — well — let’s just say it might be a little early for Charlize’s “Career Tribute”.

  NOT A HATER. She’s awesome. It’s just my opinion that, considering her fellow recipients, this is early for her.

  • I see what you’re saying, but at the same time if Hilary Swank and Natalie Portman could get a career award from the same organization in past years, why not Charlize? They always give an award to a young actress and then an accomplished actor and director. I think it brings publicity for the Oscar race more than anything.

• Way too early for her to get a so-called “career tribute” but Theron is my favorite African-American actress. “Monster” alone qualifies for top-tier acting.

• Career tributes don’t have to be “lifetime” career tributes. It’s a nod to her career thus far and the woman has an Oscar on her mantle and is extraordinarily talented. Everyone’s so damn cranky.
