Kelly Goode, who during her three-year stint as SVP Programming at Game Show Network has overseen the boost in original programming that has resulted in double-digit demo ratings increases, has stepped aside from her executive post and inked a two-year development and producing pact at the network. The former Lifetime and CBS Productions programming exec had helped spearhead GSN’s move into originals, bringing in the likes of Jerry Springer, Drew Carey, Sherri Shepherd, Wendy Williams and Norm Macdonald to host series and specials like The Newlywed Game and Love Triangle. The search is underway for a new programming boss, said GSN president and CEO David Goldhill, who made the deal announcement today.

No one works harder nor deserves her success more. First-rate exec, first-rate person.
Kelly is the best. Smart, gracious, kind, dedicated. There’s no better exec out there. She’ll do great.
She may be a good person–and not everyone thinks she is, just ask AJ Benza–but with Goldhill running the show over there, no programming exec will ever be allowed to do anything. The reality is her tenure has been one expensive flop after another.
Seriously? Just ask AJ Benza? WHo gives a fuck what AJ Benza thinks about a programming exec – except for AJ Benza?
AJ hosted their poker show. They dumped AJ. Of course AJ didn’t like it. I didn’t like it either, btw.
But that has nothing to do with whether Kelly Goode is a good person or not. That comes with the territory. Networks make changes with talent. I’d hardly call the dumping of AJ Benza even worth discussion.
Kelly is a great person. She brought in lots of big names to a network that previously attracted none. (I mean – it drew in AJ Benza, need we say more.) Goldhill needs to let creative execs do their job. He’s the one holding this company back.
She brought some class to that network and attracted awesome talent. GSN was a sinking ship when Goode took it over and she righted it.
Awesome talent? Who? Jerry Springer? Class? Who? JERRY SPRINGER? Hank is right, Goldhill needs to let the programming people do their jobs. But Goode was in way over her head and all the spin and nice words you want to say doesn’t change the fact she oversaw one expensive failure after another.
Say what you want, Springer makes tons of money. Most people who make tons of money don’t go to tiny little networks that don’t have much. Add to that Drew Carey, who’s good enough to host a broadcast network game show and doesn’t need to bother with GSN…. and others who are at least on part to many other cable networks that have bigger budgets and ratings than GSN.
That’s not easy.
a pro in every way. period.
Mark Freeman should get the bump. Smart and talented guy.
Springer and Drew Carey makes tons of money because people pay them, including GSN. Springer’s show is the only thing that Kelly Goode oversaw that ever did anything at GSN. Drew Carey’s show was an expensive disaster as was every other one during her tenure, from hidden camera shows to the Game Show Awards to live Saturday Night interstitials. She deserves credit for writing big checks for shows that don’t perform?
Awesome news! Goode was a nightmare. She was a micromanaging control freak and that’s why nothing got done under her tenure. Shifting from an exec to a production deal is proof of their lack of faith in her. Goode riddance!!!
Family feud has been on the air for the last 7 hours!! It makes for a very boring evening!!! Why can’t you put Baggage or another
show on and make the evening more enjoyable. You have better shows during the day than you have in the evening. I like all of the shows, but not a steady diet of them!!
