Guinness World Records has awarded Downton Abbey with the accolade of the “Highest critical review ratings for a TV show,” which the record book says means the PBS Masterpiece series created and written by Julian Fellowes is the most “critically well-received show in the world,” snatching the honor from previous record holders Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy and Modern Family. Downton, which has been nominated for 11 Primetime Emmy Awards, averaged a score of 92 out of 100 on Metacritic, which provided the date of compiled reviews.

I love Downton Abbey but that is one BS record!
So this proves this is probably terrible. Thank you.
Probably? Boy, you’re not one to judge things sight-unseen, are you? What a bunch of crap. Give it a chance, FFS!
Just finished the 1st season DVD. I received it as a gift, and I hadn’t heard much about it. Initially, I thought it was a movie or miniseries, like Jane Eyre or Pride and Prejudice. Only at the end did I realize it was a TV program. The production values were fabulous.
I watched the show because a friend suggested it to me and it is fabulous! I don’t normally like this kind of thing, but it is so good!
Joanne Froggatt is absolutely amazing on this show. I love what she has done with her character of ‘Anna.’ She and Michelle Dockery are brilliant and just as good as Elizabeth McGovern and Maggie Smith!!
Breaking Bad Season 4 has a Metascore of 96. How come is that not the best reviewed series by the critics?
Fantastic show. Can’t wait for season 2. Interesting to compare to the “Upstairs/Downstairs” reboot that ran on PBS a few months later. Similar subject matter, set in roughly the same time period, but pretty bad – contrived in plot and overripe in acting.
Incredible show! Haven’t heard much about Downton Abbey until a friend suggested it. So surprised how much I loved it!
WHAT!??! How can ANY of the mentioned shows be better reviewed than The Wire?!?!?!? Seriously! I love SoA, MF, but there is no way they are better reviewed – NO WAY!
