Jim Belushi Teams With ‘Murphy Brown’ Creator For New Comedy Series Project

ABC has closed a deal for a comedy project from Murphy Brown creator Diane English starring Jim Belushi. The project, titled You Won’t Even Know I’m Here, has received a put pilot commitment from the network. ABC Studios and studio-based Brillstein Entertainment Partners are producing. The multi-camera comedy, written by English, stars Belushi as a co-dependent father whose relationship with his teenage daughter is turned upside down when they are put together in a unique situation. English and Belushi are executive producing with Brillstein Entertainment. The project drew multiple studio bids when it hit the market last month, ultimately landing at ABC Studios/Brillstein, the companies that also produced Belushi’s long-running ABC sitcom According to Jim. ABC, which has new comedy Last Man Standing starring Tim Allen launching next week, continues to load up on comedy projects fronted by veteran comedy stars this development season. The network last week gave a put pilot commitment to Malibu Country, starring Reba McEntire, and also has a pilot starring Kristie Alley in the hopper.

Just another reason to avoid ABC – Assinine Belushi Comedy.
Someone hand the ABC executives a calendar. They haven’t a clue what year it is. Diane English? After “The Women” she should be stopped from ever writing anything again. And that includes: thank you notes, grocery lists, to-do lists, everything! Ugh!
yay : (
What the 1991 is going on????
Too bad the name Dinosaurs has already been used.
(waits for rim shot)
Why in the hell is ABC fronting another comedy with this nitwit? It was bad enough his other shw lasted as long as it did and should have been canceled three seasons earlier, but now they want to stil do business with him? What’s Paul Lee thinking here?!
after having his excellent show, the defenders, yanked out from under him for no good reason belushi deserves another shot, i think! cbs screwed up big time taking that show off the air. i am still cheesed off about that!
Belushi is unfunny and just plain lucky. I’d rather have ground glass in my eyes then watch him on TV.
Wait, don’t tell me – Belushi plays an overweight shlub who has a young, hot girlfriend (or ex-wife, in this case) who, in real life, would never be with a guy like that. Amirite?
“…put together in a unique situation.” Nooooooo! That’s my pilot! Crap.
Jim could play Murphys housekeeper repair man..that is the show..Its so clear and right up Dianes alley…oh man i cannot wait to see the show..
Attention Belushi show writers: don’t forget your chamber pots on “Belushi Pitches in the Writers’ Office” Day. You’ve been warned.
Which intelligent person watches multi-cams anyway ?
Give Diane a break! She created a fantastic, long running show. So, her latest work was a flop, eh, it happens. Belushi on the other hand… the idea is as old and stale as… well, it’s just old and stale. Maybe Diane needs the work (paycheck?) Isn’t going to pilot thought but hasn’t received a series order which means there’s still hope it won’t hit our TV screens. Also, what scares me the most is this statement: “multiple studio bids.” Other studios wanted this??? Poor Hollywood.
John Belushi was one of the most over-praised people in the history of entertainment.
His brother, on the other hand, deserves no praise whatsoever.
Instead of making us put up with another Belushi crap-fest, why not just reboot or reimagine “According to Jim”. But this time, ya know, with someone with talent!
Welcome back, Diane!!! YOU GO, GIRLFRIEND!!!
