EXCLUSIVE: A History of Violence scribe Josh Olson has been set to write Tabloid, the working title of an adult thriller that is being fashioned as a potential starring vehicle for Mick Jagger. Jagger had the idea for the film, and is producing with Victoria Pearman through his Jagged Films banner. They’ve set up the project to be financed by Steve Bing, who’ll also produce through his Shangri-La Entertainment banner. The role Jagger is eyeing is a global media mogul with dubious morality, and there is a young journalist who gets seduced and sucked into that immoral world. Olson most recently wrote the first draft of One Shot, the Lee Child novel that Paramount is putting into production with Chris McQuarrie directing and Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher. The UTA-repped Olson has also scripted a series version of the Korean action film Soo for FX.

Ugh, what a gigantic waste of time and money– Mic donate that money instead, to an actual charity.
No, Josh, I will not read this fucking script.
That’s fine because odds are you’ll be able to actually see it in a theater, unlike your script.
See the difference?
He was making a joke. Putz.
Yes, David, I think he noticed.
haha well put. that diatribe he went on was so unnecessary and not funny. everyone knows it’s tough to get a script read if you’re brand new. talk about stating the obvious.
Couldn’t disagree more. Most working writers were behind him. From where I’m sitting it was waiting to be said and funny.
Killer! About time there was a scalp peeling cinematic delve into the modern day Hearst’ian meglomaniac. Olson will do this justice with as usual.
interesting, looking forward to seeing what this is……..A “NETWORK” for the 21st century? Mick could be Murdoch’s younger brother.
Timely and original, Newbie Screenwriter. You have a bright future ahead of you.
Cast Alan Rickman in Jagger’s role and I’ll be there opening day.
Seems rathee timely what with the whole Rupert Murdoch phone hacking scandal. Mick as Murdoch and Jessica Chastain as Rebekah Brooke and I might go see it.
that’s what has been missing in my life. a film starring Mick Jagger. Oh jeez. aren’t most movies bad enough? somebody should be fired today for even considering this.
You can! It’s called “Freejack”
Coming from Hollywood, I don’t expect the movie to be representative of 90% of the media moguls who are who corrupt and will support any unsubstantiable lie and suppress any fact just to promote Marxism.
juicy role for jagger…i love it!
My God! Who wants to see this wrinkled, drug stained old face magnified hundreds of times on the big screen…An unbelievable talent who doesn’t want to accept the curtain has come down. i9 feel embarassed for him
So, you’re of a mind that ‘talent’ resides only in youthful pretty boys? You’ve bought into the Hollywood, pop-culture, unthinking convention, haven’t you?
They could make him look young and fresh, a la Bruce Willis in Surrogates, using make up and technology. Kind of fitting to the concept of this script, in a way.
But Mick did suck a stellar job in “Freejack.”
Sounds like Mick is being type cast.—dubious moral values
If writers are going to continue to lazily lift plots for only-slightly intriguing news headlines, they need to work on being not so blatant about it.
Maybe it’s time for these writers to go back on strike…people didn’t appear to be missing out so much.
The role Jagger is eyeing is a global media mogul with dubious morality, not much of a stretch!
LOL
Yet another left wing fantasy? You pigs on the left can have your “fun” now, things will be A LOT DIFFERENT once adults are back running things without the communism and faux racism.
Count on it!
Mick J does have acting talent. Its a shame he didn’t make more movies while on hiatus from the Rolling Stones. He at least makes a great character actor. Love to see him on the big screen.
This Commentary Cat happend to watch the ‘master work’ FreeJack. Commentary Cat was not amused and swished its tail in the general direction of the televisor to indicate disgust.
I’d rather see Mick Jagger, then some of these younger, botoxed to death mid 30-40 olds. any day….Older actors give character to the screen FAR BETTER then most of these untalented zombies we have today, hitting the screen…
Did he come up with the amazingly imaginative and original idea for the script after watching “Citizen Kane”?
You most certinaly have the dubious morallaty part rightHMMMMMMMMMMMM
No one else on earth could do as much justice and control to a mogul figure as Mick Jagger, Mick Jagger has dealt with the media from every angle, not only that, he’s turned corporations inside out, by creating a mobile corporate dynasty, that fosters billions in commercial sales whenever such enterprise turns on the lights for showtime production. In fact Mick Jagger is the quintessential multi-billionaire model of corporate enterprise that all profiteers wish to emulate. As Ringo Starr would tell him if he could along with the help of belated Buck Owens, is that “All you have to do is act naturally.”
Wishing Mick all the best in this creative endeavor which could end up becoming one of his greatest big screen performances of all time.
So. Mick will play a global media mogul with dubious morality. As opposed to a global rock n roll mogul with well-known poor morality.
Jagger is a global media mogul with dubious morality.
He ought to win an Oscar.
Jagger`s a global icon. He`s got about $450 million….let him go out to play if he wants.
(think many in here wish Warhol painted them)..Nahh, I`m sure of it.
Which one of the NY Times executives will he play?
” . . . dubious morality?” Stunned! How can the alley cat rock rooster ever sink to that character trait?!?
