EXCLUSIVE: In a rare feat for a female showrunner, Kari Lizer has landed a second project with a major commitment this season. I hear that ABC has nabbed a multi-camera comedy from the New Adventures Of Old Christine creator with a put pilot commitment. The project centers on a powerful female executive who suddenly finds herself as a stay-at-home mom with 3 teenage kids and has no idea how that works. Upon completion of the deal between ABC and Warner Bros. TV Lizer, who has 3 teen kids herself, will write and executive produce the untitled comedy. WBTV, where Lizer is under an overall deal, will co-produce with Lizer’s banner Kari’s Logo Goes Here. The pact at ABC comes on the heels of another Lizer multi-camera Lady Friends, sparking a bidding war before landing at NBC with a put pilot commitment. Will & Grace alum Lizer, whose every script to date has been picked up to pilot, is repped by Scott Schwartz.

Baby Boom is one of my favorite movies too.
Wait, let me guess. She sends memos to the kids to clean their room instead of just telling them to. And weekend outings are called “retreats.” And what about that pile of dirty dishes and laundry? Say hello to Josephine, the sassy street-wise housekeeper of dubious ethnicity. That’s gold, Jerry, gold!
Rinse, flush, repeat, rinse, flush, repeat
The studio plan.
Shwartz strikes again!
You should watch that movie again (and maybe write it as your spec script). It doesn’t sound remotely the same. I get it though, other people’s success makes you maaaadddd.
Ideas are a dime a dozen… this similar concept is pitched all the time. Every season.
It’s the EXECUTION!
And Kari’s execution is fantastic.

Any real writer would agree with what the wise Robert says here.
If you don’t, then I’m sure the WGA is happy to nab your 25 bucks for registering a half-page “concept pitch” for a sitcom pilot that you’re “really getting ready to put on the page, soon.”
Kari is a very good writer. Congrats.
Congrats !! HOw cool is that? Very difficult competition, speaks volumes of your creativity and knowledge of the entertainment field! Thanks for sending to me.
Looking forward to anything she does. Christine was super funny and well written and ended before it should have
Not liking this multi-camera resurgence (although “New Adventures of Old Christine” was funny).
I think it’s because I’ve seen too many “Whitney” commercials.
