Mark Burnett has put his weight behind what backers are calling the nation’s first social TV network, Youtoo TV, which allows viewers to record and submit videos that are then filtered for content and broadcast on TV. The venture joins Burnett’s company Video In My Back Yard and CEO Chris Wyatt’s Youtoo. Each program on the network will be wrapped around a TV or Web series, creating interactive content in which the host discusses the episode and invites viewers to be on television; Youtoo will start by putting 500 people on TV each day via videos called Fame Spots that can be uploaded via smartphone, tablet or PC. Such interactive programming includes Say Yes & Marry Me, which will offer viewers the opportunity to propose marriage on-air. Burnett is producing 250 short programs to establish the identity of the network, which will launch with an audience of 15 million and include The X Files, Batman, and Green Hornet in its lineup.
New ‘Man Of Steel’ Television Spot #6

So Burnett thinks he invented YouTube? I already have YouTube on my Sony Bravia. How does this differ?
It’s simple, it puts YOU on national TV. It is not YouTube. It allows you to participate in the programming in front of 15 million households.
Also, its a social network. Just like social networking, you can interact with your friends. HOWEVER, you can also interact with the people ON TV.
Do the people who submit videos get any form of compensation?
At least youtube has adsense and it can be split 50/50.
If this guy is really asking for people to submit and put videos up, then basically if his channel hits big. He will make millions on the deal, yet the users videos who are responsible get nothing for their efforts.
That is a raw deal.
If this channel idea is to be successful, their should be a compensation plan for people who send videos.
That’s only fair.
Oh cool!!! An INTERNET TV Channel… so I can watch the internet on TV and not have to mess with those complicated buttons and stuff… finally.
(Fart Noise)
Sounds terrible.
After the mess this guy made of the Emmys??? a terrible show. Go away!
After thee hours of trying, I still can’t find a way to watch the current episode. Nothing on their page will play the Batman or any other show. I put in zip codes for my buddies all over the country in hopes that I could watch YouToo via streaming video from their cable connections. Guess what, It is apparently not on any cable channel in Tallahassee Fl, Montgomery Al, Atlanta, Wichita, Pittsburgh, or southern California.
With so may people dropping cable TV and watching on the the Web, Seems like a giant step BACKWARD.
How stupid is it for YouToo to NOT show the channel on their web site? They should rename it to NotYou. I know it will be NotME.
finally, a reason to digitize the hundreds of hours of shot but never looked at again family videos. sheesh, spare me. we’re going the wrong way here.
@ chris- this is NOT different then youtube other than it is LESS people and LESS options. 15 mill households is less than a third of youtube’s audience & if you don’t like a youtube video you can just click to the next one, troublemaker is right.
@ rko- you are exactly correct, and there is no way I would allow someone to put me on their television show without paying me, but there are are plenty of idiots to volunteer
Somebody tell him his hot tub time machine is broken.
Like Funniest Home Videos only even less entertaining?
This “new” network is actually a relaunching under a new format of what used to be the American Life TV Network, formerly the Goodlife Television Network, formery Nostalgia Good TV, formerly Nostalgia Television, formerly The Nostalgia Channel.
While Burnett has Shark Tank that is dying to become an entire cable channel, he dicks around with trivial shit like this. He’s lost his vision.
