Meredith Vieira, who announced in May that she was retiring from her job as Today co-host and signed off in June, isn’t settled into her rocking chair just yet. NBC News said today that Vieira has been named a special correspondent on Rock Center With Brian Williams, the network’s new primetime newsmagazine hosted by NBC Nightly News anchor Williams that will premiere in midseason. As part of her new deal, Vieira also will contribute to Today, NBC Nightly News and other network programming including coverage of the 2012 London Olympics. NBC News president Steve Capus made the announcement today and said Vieira starts her job immediately. The network unveiled the name Rock Center this week; the hourlong show has Rome Hartman executive producing and Harry Smith and Kate Snow already aboard as correspondents.

Oh boy….Harry Smith, Meredith Viera and Brian Williams just in time for the 2012 election. I’m sur ethat’s gonna be a well-thought, fair and balanced. So pathetic.
Not Meredith again I was happy when she left the Today Show now we have to see and hear her yet again. She did not do a good job before why try her on this new venture she will kill the ratigs before they get off the ground.
Horrible name for a newsmagazine, sounds like a Viagra campaign.
Love Meredith thug, glad to hear she’s staying with news.
Why does Meredith Viera keep telling everyone she’s leaving shows to look after her dying husband before turning around five minutes later to sign up for another show?
Meredith is probably the only liberal on network TV that I can stomach. Glad to have her back and away from (in my opinion) the less than stellar Ann Curry who can not ad lib her way out of a dark room. Ratings will be good.
