UPDATE, 9 PM PT: At midnight ET, The NHL Network went dark on U-verse after AT&T
and the network couldn’t reach a new carriage agreement.
PREVIOUS, 8 PM: AT&T informed its customers that the NHL Network could be removed from the U-verse TV lineup tonight. “We have tried to reach a fair, long-term deal with NHL Network in order to continue delivering this channel to U-verse TV U450 and Sports Tier customers,” AT&T said in a statement. “Unfortunately, it appears that as of midnight EST, Oct. 1, NHL Network will no longer be available on U-verse TV because we will no longer have an acceptable agreement to carry the channel.” Fans can still catch the games on their local channels or on NBC and Versus, both of which inked deals this spring for the rights to 100 regular-season games.

I recently signed up with U-verse after dumping my cable company of 19 years. When I was ordering, I made it clear that if not for the NHL Network, I would not have switched. I was never told a word that the NHL might be dropped. The ATT press release sight gives a lame explanation about how many of your home games will be accessible regionally through other channels. NOT IF YOU ARE IN CALIFORNIA AND YOUR HOME TEAM IS DETROIT. I waited all summer for the season to begin and now, in the week the season does begin, the NHL is dropped. CANCELLING!

I also signed up for Uverse with the the guarantee that The NHL network was part of the line up. You guys need to come to a deal and reinstate the NHL. This may impact my staying with AT&T…All depends on weather my beloved “Carolina Hurricanes Games” are carried an the Network. I hope for my continued businesses sake they are. Havent even paid my first uverse bill. If i knew this was going to happen i wouldnt have switched. I will give uverse 1 year, if things havent changed, im switching. Im even willing to pay for the nhl network.

U-verse has been claiming for the past 3 years that they were working on a deal to get NHL Center Ice added to the lineup. To date, they have failed. Now they do not even have one channel that focuses on hockey. We are going backwards, not forward. When the ship is going down, you need to get in a life boat and swim to shore…in this case the shore is a new cable provider. Bye-bye U-verse, going back to Dish Network…should never have left.
All these carriage disputes do is hasten internet delivery and a la carte service. Please future get here now.
There are still companies withholding HD signals from rival carriers, as if sending your product out in substandard fashion makes the carrier look worse than the actual show.
I am very unhappy with ATT over this.They don’t even carry the one station devoted to hockey.I am finding it difficult to communicate my disgust with this action.Any ideas?
I was very disappointed that the NHL Network is no longer available. When I called AT&T to complain, the customer service rep had no idea about this change! And this is a communications company! I want my NHL Network!
Football sucks! Hockey is the greatest sport ever. I’ve waited all summer for the season to start and ATT drops the NHL Network like a bad habit. I will be looking for a new cable provider, (one that has the NHL Network and reliable/fast internet service)Thanks for nothing ATT.
don’t like football? Really? most hockey fans (and that includes all of Canada plus myself) have football as their #2 sport. But I feel your pain. “NHL fails to reach agreement”….my god, the best sport in the world is turning into the NBA.
Was unpleasantly surprised to learn that the NHL Network was no longer being carried on AT&T when I tried to turn in to the Wings game tonight. The Uverse rep said they’ve received a bunch of calls and that it could be added back to the lineup “in the future”, whatever that means. Thing is, as angry as I am, I know this isn’t AT&T’s fault. The NHL is getting greedy and wanting more from AT&T to televise the games. When it costs AT&T more to carry the channel, it’s going to cost ME more. How much more I have no clue. On the one hand I appreciate their efforts to keep my costs down. On the other, I was clear: if they don’t have an agreement in place by the time the puck drops on the first regular season game, we’re gone.

Was never informed and very disappointed by this, especially since it’s the reason I was paying for the premium sports package. Will drop that sports package, and looking at the account I see I can actually drop a level of service to the 200.
i want my NHL network back and its horrible that ATT dropped it because they were possibly going to be charged too much to carry the games. ATT is a multi million dollar company, not that the NHL isn’t, and im sure can afford to pay for coverage to possibly keep their customers happy

Shenanigans!!! Just last week I spent a good hour on the phone with uverse trying to get them to add their lame sports pack for free. I was told when I switched from directv that NHL network was included in their U-300 package which it wasn’t. I told them that I only cared about NHL network and that I was canceling my service if I didn’t get it. They had to discount phone, Internet, and TV service to make their sports package not end up costing me anymore at the end of the month, but I made it clear to every person I was transferred to that there was only ONE channel I cared about and now it’s gone. I’ve never been all that happy with uverse anyway which makes it all the more satisfying to cancel and switch back to DirecTV.
To think Gary Bettman makes $10m a year to continue to alienate the core hockey fan makes my stomach turn. If I was in the room with Bettman at the moment my hands would have to be pulled off the diminutive putz’ neck.
i was also told they were going to get nhl center ice now no nhl network either. Time to cnacel my 450 package and the 5 extra tvs i pay for and look into direct tv or dish got sick of crap service from comcast.Really liked att but with rate hike and no hockey time to look eleswhere

All i can say to att uverse is that they better show more nhl hockey on other channels like the fox sports channels or get the lead out of their backsides and get nhl network back online….. if not, i will pull both my internet service as well as my tv service…….and go to either comcast or directv

I just called att to find out about nhl network ..And i was told it was canceled ,, I have 2 accounts and ask on one account to remove my sports package ,cause i have no use for it now since nhl network is not available ,,In chicago all the other sports channell we didnt recive or is black out ,,and they changed me a 5 cancel fee ..what the fu@k ,, my other account has 450 and I am downgrading this also ,,time to get the dish back ,,, When i signed up for the sports pkg on my other account i was never told about this
Cable/satellite never learn….cancelling a sports channel is a sure loser. The cable/satellite companies always relent in the long run
The NHL Network has every right as a business to ask for more money to carry its channel. After the big ratings increase from last season, and, the NBA quite possibly not playing this season, it is a grand time for hockey to take hold.
