In a competitive situation, Fox has bought The Raiding Party, a drama project from Breakout Kings creator Nick Santora. The project hails from DreamWorks TV, Sony Pictures TV and Santora’s Blackjack Films banner and stems from the premium blind script deal Santora had at Sony. The Raiding Party centers on three brothers, overseen by their dominant mother, who carry on the successful family business that was founded by their grandfather and bequeathed to them by their dad … and that business happens to be robbing banks. This marks Santora’s return to Fox, where Breakout Kings was originally developed and picked up to pilot. Additionally, Santora, repped by WME and the Gotham Group, worked on the network’s Prison Break for the drama’s four-season run. He also created and executive produced the CW reality series Beauty and the Geek. DreamWorks has 5 series on the air, all large-scale, big-budget productions: The Borgias on Showtime, Falling Skies on TNT, and the upcoming Terra Nova on Fox, Smash on NBC and The River on ABC.

Nick is a great dude. Hope this works out well for him.
Everything this guy writes is gold. Fox is lucky to have nabbed this new show… it sounds great.
Would someone be so kind as to explain to me what buying a project with a penalty means/implies? Thanks.
The penalty is supposed to entice the network to want to actually make the pilot… rather than just shelve it. If they don’t, they hand over a boat load of cash.
The same people can’t rob a bank every week. Unless of course it is about the lives of bank robbers and the lives they live. Then of course this makes total sense. And also if they live in Boston.
LOL First thing I thought of was ‘The Town’ too.
well, the same people have been doing it on wall street for a couple of decades. so why not in tv land…
i love this premise.
Nick is such a talent, Fox is very lucky to have him.
This is a total rip off of one of the best movies of last year called ANIMAL KINGDOM. No way they can come even close.
Animal Kingdom is a crazy violent dramatic film about a family of criminals- they sell drugs and shoot dope and rob a bank once in a while- in Australia hunting their OWN family member bc they don’t want him to rat, TOLD FROM THE POV OF THE KID BEING HUNTED. An awesome film, nonetheless, but….
Raiding Party is a one hour, often very funny, TV show about a family who has brought the science of robbing insured money and using it as their business. They’re not drug dealers, they don’t shoot up, and it’s from the POV OF THE FAMILY. And I haven’t seen it yet, but considering the other shows this guy has done, it doesn’t sound like it’s gonna be ANYTHING like Animal Kingdom tonally.
If you think this is a rip off of Animal Kingdom than I guess Animal Kingdom is a rip off of Goonies.
Couldn’t have happen to a better guy!
Big score for FOX!
Finally Fox is back to developing interesting shows.
Worked with Nick a few years ago…stand up guy. Congrats!
Well deserved. Santora will make this a hit, no doubt.
Sounds like someone watched ANIMAL KINGDOM.
s
Yay!!!! This show’s gonna be amazing!! I love Prison Break and Breakout Kings!! Something about their flavor that makes me happy… I’d rather hang in with these guys than go out to a bar and hang with a bunch of stiffs. At least when I tune in here, I know I’m gonna have a good time.
There enough bland crime procedural or breazy crime dramas pretending to be complex. If this get picked up to series it has to be done right. It needs smart storytelling and real organic character development.
Major props to Slammy-Lammy-Ling-Long-Slamtora.
He’s one of the good guys.
Nick is a great writer and a great person, with endless ideas on a daily basis. No one has watched Animal Kingdom since it was sponsored by Mutual of Omaha & it’s tiring constantly reading how “X” is a ripoff of “Y”. A great show is a great show and Santora is a proven commodity.
Nick is one of the all-time first class guys in Hollywood. And an incredible talent. So happy he is going back to Fox.
Nick is incredibly talented and I can’t wait to see more quality work from him. Fox scored by resigning Nick.
I swore I’d never watch another project with Santora involved after the insult to viewers which was the final season of Prison Break, including it’s craptacular ending. Not going to change my mind now.
…But you keep tuning in to One Tree Hill right? You’re an idiot.
So you’ll never watch anything from the guy that turned a possibly terrible show into something you clearly loved to watch for a few seasons because you didn’t like the ending of said show? Sounds like you lose. I’ll watch anything this man writes. Best crime scribe in town.
It is ANIMAL KINGDOM interred with “Scoundrels” a show that lasted about 3 episodes last summer.
Just pay the penalty now, please so everyone can move on.
Score. I’ll watch anything this guy is behind!
Drug dealers, serial killers, dirty cops, prostitutes and bank robbers as stars of shows.
So what are we telling the next gen about life, people?
To hell we go.
And I am loving it!!!!
Pass me a bucket of chicken… as Tool said… Mom’s coming back around to put it back the way it’s supposed to be!
Be happy for someone, dude.
Very excited for this. Great writer and even better guy.
Santora is a machine. He consistently works harder (and drives farther) than any EP in television.
One of the most hard working, and nicest EPs out there. Best of luck to you, Nick.
